I have this car in a 2013 RS model. It's now 2024 and I've had no issues. It's even the same color as this one.

These little Sonic’s are actually pretty good little cars, they are not crazy fast but they get the job done with great gas mileage, I bought one with 147.000 miles and it runs great and it’s now pushing 190.000 miles and it hasn’t had any issues at all besides the normal stuff, I wasn’t expecting much from the little car but so far it has surprised me, I’ve driven it from upstate New York to Huntington West Virginia to visit family and only filled the tank 2 times and it drove pretty good on the Highway at 70 to 80 mph , so far I love the little car and I won’t complain one bit and I think if something does go wrong I’ll get it fixed and keep it going. Awesome video and review

I would never drive a small car like that with an Automatic Transmission. I have owned Honda Civic and VW GOlfs and all 5 speed standard with no problems in 40 years.

I've had my "15 Dragon Green 6sp RS for a year now and fugging love it!
I think the automatic transmissions were more prone to failure and ruined the Sonic reputation

they also ride good for a small car, i recently read that out of the other cars in the same class the sonic has the best ride.

Griff you can run a aftermarket temperature gage where your temperature sensor is take the sensor out and use it T fitting so you can still use the factory sensor and a place to mount the temperature probe for the aftermarket gage. Nice car thanks for the review.

i have a red 2012 sonic with 5sp stick shift and with the 1.8l. so far i like it. it also has good throttle response due to there being no turbo.

@@crocketgsxr6 so far so good, i like mine, but mine had a little less mileage with new tires, breaks and undercoated for $5k at a reputable dealer. but its also a base model. that being said i would try to get it down a little, or if nothing else seeing its due for the timing belt and its pulleys to be changed (if it has yet to be done) try to get them to have it done first. assuming its the 1.8l which are know to have less issues.

Nice review. My daughter has one of those. Very economical. My girlfriend had a Cruze. Same engine I think. Car could literally run on fumes.

Cool video, I was surprised to see you driving this kind of car, figured it would be a Focus or a Festiva. Hope the Galaxie build is going well. Take care

I’ve heard that the engine still revs a bit when you let off the gas and shift up or down in modern manual transmissions but never had a chance to experience it first hand.

my son has the RS model , after 75,000 miles on it need a the front center link pushing replaced and a new Turbo , they don't last forever, , you'll noticed a clunking noise when you go over bump's .. he thought it was a bad front strut .. and when your turbo goes is when you feel the car lacking power running threw the gears , and it dont go just head's up , now back to the Galaxie build :)

Mine was doing that but it was just the sway bar links. Super easy and cheap fix

That lag isnt the electric controlled stuff its a tiny 4 cylinder the lag is before the turbo spools and makes its power

The lag isn't from fuel injection or the ECM, it's the nature of turbo cards. It's turbo lag.
