Propain Tyee 29 Enduro bike - Спорт
Their all fully configurable, down to every part 😍
Great to hear about another brand you don’t see everyday. It is so tough to pull the trigger on a direct to consumer bike that you can’t ride first. I think reviews like this can be very helpful for people on the fence for a bike like this. Nice work!
Thanks Bill. Yeah, hope to give people a better idea of what they're getting into before they pull the trigger. The Tyee is an excellent bike at a good price point for people with a lot of wide open, high speed trails.... and a fearless pilot!!
Wow finally the Tyee! thanks heaps as always for the review mate!
At this time I should learn for my Latin classtest but this is more important
Greetings from Germany
haha thanks!!
Salve. Quid agis?
I am putting off homework right now also
Love their bikes! They've taken away some of the custom options as in stickers and colors but still, really cool bikes!! Thanks for the review!
Thank you for your review! Really helpful.
I have a Tyee 2020 27.5 version and it is incredible!!!
Have you tried the YT Jeffsy?
Thanks for this great video! I just ordered my 27,5 carbon model and looking forward to receive it :)
Hope you enjoy it!
Love the review, super cool bike - thank you ! A bit off topic but could you do a review of the 5010 V4? I'm curious what you think of the model.
I love how you compare it to others bikes
Would really be interesting you taking out a commencal META AM 29 . Seeing what your take on the bike may be .
Man, two vids in a week. Awesome!
haha.. I've got 4 others that just need to be edited. Wish I had more time to post every week. Thanks!
Awesyum
Such a cool suspension design , i like that . You earphones survive ? They hanging to the ground
I get what you mean by a bigger bike not throwing itself into turns as well. I have a Ibis Mojo HD5 with similar travel but smaller wheels and it really takes a different style of riding to make it work on regular trails.
What I mean is, you have to be *way* more active moving your weight around, especially in tighter turns for it to be at its best.
Sick bike for anyone wanting a "do it all" imho!
Exactly!
I don't like the cables lose under BB. Living in an area with lost of rain, trees, roots and sapling stumps creates a ton of trail debris that would get caught up in that.
Many thanks for the review, great stuff. I clicked buy now 1 day before you published so very well timed, personally speaking. Glad you addressed some of the small things (cables, chainstay) so I can be ready to mitigate as needed. My question for you: Do you regularly ride bikes with coil suspension? I plan to add a coil to mine and I wonder if you will be keeping this bike long enough or are interested in how it performs with a coil rear suspension platform. The scant reviews that I can find online mention that it really improves the back end. Thanks again for your review.
I've never ridden a bike with a coil sorry
02:38 My observations are that thats exactly what happens with these long and slack bikes if you don't weigh the front tire enough. Probably not specific to this bike.
Like always a good video. No questions.
I find a 50mm stem a bit lazy in the turns. In combination with the shorter fork off set it is more on the stabil side.
A shorter stem would make it more direkt and aggressive. But the bike could be too short then. And a larger frame might not work because of the seat tube lenght.
But good bikes and good video.
Yeah, I thing a shorter stem could have helped in the corners for sure...
I saw your review on the Yeti SB150 and curious how the two bikes ride compared to each other. Seems like you prefer the Yeti and looking for the one bike quiver killer.
Thank you for the very good Video!
What would you prefer wen money doesn’t matter... a Tyee or a Megatower?
Which is more stabil? Faster or moveable?
Thanks a lot!
They do offer a BIKEYOKE REVIVE 185 MM dropper also. I am thinking about buying theTyee or even the Spindrift. Not sure which one...
[For my money] Full carbon Zerode with Pinion is the same money give or take and honestly is the best suspension I have tried (because of lack of cassette & der). Hard to tell real value from a bike review. Considering the cash required Propain has decent specs.
Hy, how do you feel the difference in the Tyee and the spindrift ? can yo give me some idea about the feel in difference in this bikes, have been thinking to get a new bike but couldn't get a demo cause of this pandemic if you can please give me some details on it and if could compare with YT capra/Santa Cruz Nomad/ pivot mech6/firebird29. Loved your review man completely simple detailed and so easy t understand.
Really nice review, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I don’t know if to go for the 29 or the 27,5 i do a-lot of tricks and jumping, but i also do long rides.
Awesome Content 👌 thanks . Im sold saving now
Glad I could help
Did you find that the travel was too much and did you pump up the shock and fork to make it feel it has less travel?
Really a nice bike 👍🏻
Love the way these looks!
I'm looking at picking this bike up actually and was wondering... is it possible that its just stiffer than the majority of comparable bikes and would be better suited for a heavier rider? I weigh 210 and am trying to decide between this and the Transition Sentinel.
Still love your reviews, but kinda miss watching you riding the bikes and showing how the bike makes you feel.
I agree with this.
Yeah, I've had a lot of people mention this... thinking of going back to old way of doing the reviews. Thanks!
Ditto, JJL
I agree, now it feels like sponsored videos more like a commercial or idk its just different
I also enjoyed the old format of riding Jacob’s, then that flow trail....with the summary at the end.
Good review!
You read my mind. Exactly what I've been thinking about buying. Is frame only available yet in the US?
for the money... tough to beat! Check their website
Well you can get it in 50, 45 and 35mm stem if that stem is too long for you.
Would you make a review of the new 2021 Propain Hugene?
Thank you for the review, I was expecting this since July. But.. What do you think about the suspension platform? It has a lot of antisquat, do you feel the bike harsh, especially with an air shock? And what about pedal kickback? I love the looks of this bike but it seems this isn't, yet, perfect. Thank you!
Thought it was really good. Felt plush when it needed to and still had some good get up and go... I'd like to get another ride on it in some chunkier terrain.
Which Enduro / All mountain bike do you recommend?:)
I’m interested in this bike but money is tight right now. Is the lowest end carbon build worth it?
I ordered it, but there is one wrong fact you said that there are just 3 versions in the Price but you can customise the Bike how you want.
Great Video 💪
Nice. Glad you got it figured out and ordered. Excellent company, very good bike!!!
In the US, i think that is correct with 3 options. Outside, customization is available. 🤘
Waiting to see that Spindrift 2021 too.. looks very cool!
The spindrift is already out since a month
Yesss, I want to see it definitely!
@@finroddd Lol go to the website of Propain and look at the Spindrift 2021
@@OffWhiteGhost1 I meant review of it
HI, so wich one do you prefer between this one and the rocky mountain altitude? Thanks
V from France
Been reading some reviews from Germany, and Propain already listened to people, the new Spindrift has softer protector and the cables are routed differently too. Most likely these changes will come to new Tyee too. ;)
Good to hear!
In Germany we are already having the new Spindrift🥳
Hi. How is frame size of Propain Tyee? how tall are you ? Thank you
You would add a 175mm dropper and be able to slam it down in that frame?
Between Megatower and Tyee. Which is more heavy. What's the weight of TYEE. And thanks for the video. Is a great value information
The mega tower the weight is 14.83kg and tyee is 13.8 kg, is a kg different.
I’d been waiting for this review for so long however I’ve since bought the Scott Ransom 900 Tuned. Kind of glad I didn’t get the Tyee now. Although it’s a great review and probably the best one on UA-cam it’s not what I was expecting. I now feel I’ve bought an all round much better bike 👍🏼 the chain stay protector and cables I would of been disappointed with, Also feeling your sitting on top of the bike would put me off. Great review as always!!!
Where is there nice open trail love it i want to go there
Wich bike would you take the megatower or this tyee?
Hey, i was thinking about buying the Medium size 29 but i am 165cm, do you think it will be a big bike for me? Can anyone help
Review Polygon Siskiu if you can
Hi Mate, probably I'm gonna by used same Propain and I think this is amazing Bike 🤘🏼
Go for it!
@@mtbyumyum This one was quick sold, I'mvgoing for a bit old , but still good hopefully 🙏😁🤘🏼
Hey is that a Dissector as front tire? If so, how do you like it up front, and have you tried it on anything else other than dry and loose stuff? /Cheers
Yeah, I've got a lot of miles on this as a front tires... it's not as good as a dhf but feels faster and still good traction.
Im approx. the same height as you. Ordered mine in size M with 27.5 wheels
Awesome, enjoy!!
Hey ! Love your vid ! I am 1m85 tall and I don’t know if I go for the Large version or the Extra Large what is your opinion about that ? I am really hesitating :)
Go for Large.
I haven't seen someone run that Maxxis tire combo yet. How did you like it and what widths did you use?
2.4 Dissector 2.3 DHR II great combo!
Wat about Niner bikes??
Come on Sentinel, show yourself!
He said for the money, Sentinel is up there with the Yeti SB150. Nukeproof Mega is cheaper and will plow better than Sentinel. RipmoAF climbs and pops better than the Sentinel.
Mr. Yum Yum, how does it compare against the Spindrift? What would you recommend each of those for?
The Spindrift is a freeride/bikepark bike with more travel. The Tyee is an Enduro/big trail bike.
Right now the US prices arent near the best on the market, but they are still good value. Before they sold in the US the prices were brillirant.
Thanks for the info!
How many direct to consumer bikes brands do the Germans have, or just bike brands in general? I'm constantly hearing of new (to me) German bike brands.
Well, there is Canyon, YT, Rose, Radon, Votec and Propain which are the 6 biggest...
Propain is the most gravity oriented one and a smaller one but awesome 👍
Ok, veeery off topic here... Do you know when you have the Revel Ranger review ready for us? (I'm just about to click the order button, but would really appreciate the extra input...). Thanks.
waiting waiting for ever waiting... thought I would have had a review done by now but still no bike to ride...
@@mtbyumyum Oh, that's sad news! According to Revel's Facebook, Salt cycles had an extremely light Ranger build in store ten days ago. facebook.com/RevelBikesForever/posts/3559673694082714
I thought that was the one you were supposed to demo. Apparently not.
Please keep us updated. Thanks.
Mach Chicken
Plan to review 2021 Stumpie (non-Evo)?
The Mach Chicken. Is that made by Pivot?
How do I get the largest size in 27.5?
looks small and I like it
Is it available im the U.S?
In Germany we Love propain❤️
Thoughts on the new stumpjumper and stumpjumper evo?
Can this thing handle a spring shock?
An old tube will fix the chain slap in no time. Also a free fix if it was going to the trash anyhow.
The new hugene is out!!!
2:45 it's because you are carrying on more mass. 29er wheels are harder to steer but more stable
Hey how tall are you cause of the dropper post .I am quiet in a struggle because I am 1,75 tall and I ordered 150mm
I'm 5'8"
Hi man, great review !!! I am thinking about Tyee 29" but I´m just 170cm tall. Do you think that size M with 150mm seatpost is good for me?
Whats that in inches?
@@mtbyumyum 66,9 in inches or 5 feet and 7 inches
@@starena did you go for the bike in a medium? If so how are you finding it? I'm 170cm myself and a little undecided whether to go for a small or medium. Cheers in advance.
@@OldSaul this weekend i am going to order size M and 29 wheels
@@starena cheers man. If u could let me know how u get on with it. In-between sizes from direct sales is a ball ache at the moment. Thanks again and ride the hell out your new bike.
it's a fucking beautiful bike
I have the 27.5 tyee im 5'10 i ride a large and its perefect!
I know your comment is 2 years old, but I'm considering purchasing the Tyee 29. I'm 6'1 (184cm) and they recommend the 150mm Fox Transfer for my height. Which dropper length did you choose? I'm not sure if I should go with the 150mm or the 175mm. Thanks in advance.
@@tamasb1007 I think iv got 160mm bike yoke revive. I'm only 5'10 with quite short legs so it fits me fine. You may require a higher drop. The bikes still going strong it's mulleted now
@@adriansmtb6900 Thank you so much.
It's not true, that they are ready to ship. Waiting time can be up to 4 months (at least in europe)
In the US they're ready to go!
Probably prioritising the US sales to get them out there ASAP.
@@TheJakeblues11 ah that's why i had to wait 3.5 months in the UK for my Tyee... So the Americans can get them quicker!!! I don't blame them to be honest.
Is it as poppy and lively as a Firebird 29?
Yeah, it's right there
You need to work on lying the bike more in the corner, I mean more than it feels you need to, aids traction and control, but also makes the bigger bikes more manageable in tight spots.
How does this compare to the fezzari la sal peak?
Totally different bikes... the La Sal feels a lot more like a trail bike. This feels bigger and longer
Where is Jacobs later at? I'm from corona ca
Utah
Have you tried cascade links yet??
No but a buddy of mine has it on his Yeti 130 lr
@@mtbyumyum I have a SC tallboy4 with a fox 36 at 140. I might add the link to make the rear travel 127mm. Might end up more like an optic
Should have configurated it individually.... You could have saved a bit if money and weight.
What is your inseam length?
30"
L or M ?
You cannot choose only 3 build sets, you can choose every part
Not in the USA, they only get three build kits.
I talked to competitive cyclist, they said they will credit you on my purchase.
What purchase?
@@mtbyumyum Sorry......The ripmo AF I bought!
you order now and get your bike in 4 mths time
Not impressed with how a dropper is not standard with this bike, aluminium or carbon options.
If it was standard you would still pay for it, so it makes no difference. Think of it as saving money by not choosing one and fitting your own.
Buys a 29er and complains on the cournering ability :'D
The cable routing under the bottombraket is total crap. They changed this on their other, newer models.
The spindrift
Under the bottom bracket is fine, but the cables on this bike have way too much slack. They should be pulled tight against the bb shell.
And then get ripped of through suspension movement
@@taunir713 mine doesn't
No it’s not....
For the $600 diff I would 100% take the Fox X2 and 36 factory...that's a no brainer.
Perhaps the worst review I´we ever heard. "Its a tank, and it feels like your sitting on top of the bike"?? Well, thats pretty much the opposite what every REAL reviewer claims. The cornering and agility of this bike is like nothing else. Or, as enduro magazine put it: "the Propain Tyee CF is like a surgical knife. It feels far lighter, peppier and more lively than the other bikes in this test, without any nervousness at all. The low-slung frame means you feel far more integrated with the bike than you do on the Giant Reign and Merida ONE-SIXTY - a bit like sitting astride a missile rather than on a horse".
My thoughts as well.
Yea those other reviewers are taller and ride a large. Also those reviews mentioned the bike having a tall seat tube which might not be ideal for shorter riders which matches what he says about feeling on top of the bike.
Uh, no.
Not at 6.7, 5k, or even 4k. Clickbait and just a flat out lie, video title. Shame on you.
What's better than the AL version for $3,500?? Seriously?
@@mtbyumyum Scott Ransom 930
That bike is too small for you. Just seeing you sit in it makes me uncomfortable.
fucking youtube... not sure why it keeps spamming me with mtn bike stuff but i am not interested. sorry for the thumb down but it seems to be the only way i can reach youtube and it still falls on deaf ears... STOP THE SPAM!
