Don't worry about the cables under the bottom bracket. My (now sold) Specialized Enduro 2016 had cables under the bottom bracket, too, but I didn't have a single issue with it in 4 years. At the beginning I also thought that I'm going to damage them, but I just started ignoring it after a while.
Fun to see a Tyee review in English. Most on youtube are in german. Just ordered a Tyee AL myself so will see in the spring how good it is :). Hopefully it will be the pedal friendly “trailduro” I’m hoping for!
One questionable thing is the Propain warranty. It apparently start when you order and not on delivery. A bit fishy.
Trailduro! Good term! I was lucky enough to get my bike shortly after ordering it. But we’ll see how US customer service is.
How is your new bike mate?
"We are convinced of the high quality of our products. For this reason, we voluntarily grant an additional warranty of 3 years (aluminum) or 5 years (carbon) on our frames from the date of delivery. The warranty covers all Propain frames from model year 2016 and excludes damage due to crashes and damage to storage, paintwork and anodizing."
Hi, interesting video. Did you try the bike in really steep technical trails ? I was wondering if the long chain stays wheren't a problem in that kind of situation...
I think the longer chainstays actually make that kind of riding easier, at least on a XL bike. It feels more balanced. This bike is great for picking your way through techy stuff. There are better bikes for just hanging on and plowing through as fast as possible, though.
Hi. What handlebars are you using? Looks like a pretty big rise? I've added a slightly longer riser stem and 40mm riser bar to mine but at 6'6" still feel a bit more height on the front could be useful if it doesn't impact climbing.
Yeah, this bike has a high stack, but I needed to put 60mm rise bars on it. They're Spank Spoon 800 bars. I put a link in the description. I'm planning a video at some point about all the modifications I do to make my bike fit me, so stay tuned!
@@cheapskatemtb2555 Cheers for that, I'll have a look around see if I can find that bar in Europe. The 40mm rise isn't bad but would like to experiment with something a little bit taller.
I also have this bike. I've been riding it since may. I have the 2020 AL version with fox fork, shock and transfer post. I would highly recommend the bike, it's a beast!
Be aware that sram guide brakes are crap, I upgraded straight away to shimano zee. I also upgraded the wheels to stans ztr flow-EX3. So far the bike has been perfect.
Why didn’t you equip with code r’s ?
@@jackrandall4126 Sram are good for the first few months until you have to bleed them and after time they just go to shit
Have you changed the bars? Got a massive rise on those, why did you feel it needed it?
Nope, they feel great. Some tall guys use a bunch of spacers, but I just have some high rise bars. At 6-4, if I don’t do this my saddle would be way too high compared to the grips.
I'm on a tiny trailbike with short chainstays for my size right now. Bit worried about the effects of a long chainstay on its bunnyhop-ability. How are the bunnyhops on this thing?
I’m 6’4” so the chainstays don’t feel that long too me. But they’re longer than my last bike and I don’t feel they’re making it harder to bunny hop. The bike has very poppy suspension, so you can really pop off roots, rocks, etc.
@@cheapskatemtb2555 I'm about 6'2 I believe (190cm) but I still feel like bunnyhopping becomes slower on the bigger bikes I've ridden from my friends. Like the setup takes a bit longer. Don't you notice any of that?
@@Coerced Of course compared to a small trail bike, this will feel more cumbersome. But compared to other bikes of similar travel and geo, I would say this bike is on the playful side.
I am balancing between the Propain and the YT Capra.
Did you had the opportunity to try both ? If yes what is your opinion between both ?
Never tried a Capra. The geo on the tyee is definitely more modern and to my liking. Seems like a new Capra is coming soon, so I’d wait for that.
Nice video, me tyee is coming today
really appreciated man
I want the white AL version of this one
"Raw" isnt white
“Hello cheapskates” 😂 😂 😂 best introduction I’ve ever heard
Do you feel like you are more over the bike with this bike? I also heard its loud. What do you think?
I'm a little on top of it, I suppose, but I'm 6'4" (193cm), so I'm used to that. If you want to feel "in" the bike, size up, if you want to feel "on" the bike, size down. The bottom bracket isn't particular low or high, so it depends on which size (length) you get.
@@cheapskatemtb2555 got it, thanks! Is it a loud bike? (chain slap etc).
Have you ever tried the yt jeffsy?
@@michivanhalen7086 the cables going under the bottom bracket need some fixing to quiet them down. It’s a dumb design. I’m working on a solution and hope to make a vid if it works. Haven’t tried the jeffsy. The geo on the tyee is definitely more modern/aggressive though.
Hi. Did you weigh your bike after all modifications ?
I'm planning on weighing it soon! I'm away from home and don't have a good scale right now. I will say, though, that it feels very light to ride for a 160 travel bike.
33.5 lbs or 15.2 kg. Not bad for an XL enduro bike! For reference my Rocky Mountain Instinct BC is about 32.5 lbs.
@@cheapskatemtb2555 Thanks for reply. Please let me know how did you sorted cables under bottom bracket because that looks very dangerous.
What size is you bike and how tall are you?
XL 6'4" 192cm
Could you recommend another Enduro in this price category?
Radon swoop 2021 carbon, vitus Sommet 2021 , canyon spectral 29er 2021, yt capra comp 2020
Nukeproof Mega, Vitus Sommet, propain spindrift. Was hoping to demo a bunch of bikes this year but it was tough with COVID.
@@cheapskatemtb2555 but the Tyee isn't bad at all right?
@@mauricestofer yeah, it’s great. I’d happily buy it again.
@@cheapskatemtb2555 so im kind of a beginner, i think I will buy this bike too🔥
Budget? Since when was $3-6k “budget”? 🤣 COVID really made these companies fill their pockets…
