Just upgraded my ROG to 2TB as I am typing this. Good video, and even better user-friendly setup by ASUS to swap the SSD. One of the easiest replacements. Just remember, the screw holding down the SSD is different from the housing screws which use phillip 0, for the ssd itself I had to use a phillip 1.
@@DeanSmith84 see if you can out like a rubber band on it and use a phillip 1 screw driver to slow pull it out. Gonna need a replacement screw for it tho

I figured out that I am not satisfied with the installed games from my library! :D My question is, can we then have a good use of the old SSD we are replacing? You mentioned you updated the device first before swapping SSD, did you manually back up to ASUS Cloud so that you can recover it later on or after updating the device you just replaced SSD and booted normally to BIOS then go to ASUS Cloud Recovery?
After updating we just replaced the SSD and it booted straight to the BIOS and after that we made sure secure boot settings were normal and then hit ASUS Cloud Recovery.

@@kaliman4013 in other video the UA-camr mentioned that people who tried to change the SSD before updating the bios got stuck during the connection to the internet stage. So it is highly recommended that you update the bios first, before using cloud recovery to setup your new SSD.
The cloud recovery didn't do sh1t when my Ally got stuck in a boot loop. Its currently a very expensive plastic brick. Seems to have potential as a device but I've paid a lot of money for something that's fallen over on a Windows update.

We'll answer both your questions here. I can only tell you what we did prior to the install because i dont wanna give you the wrong answer to your issue. We did make sure everything was updated out the box before installing the new SSD just incase so wouldn't run into problems with cloud recovery. We will look into the issue to see if we can offer more answer for you

Safety for the system. While it's not absolutely necessary it is a good safety precaution to take to avoid problems. One main rule known when doing any tear down that we forgot to mention is to NOT do this on carpet.
Nah I prefer not to use the Cloud Recovery, it will just install the same Windows Home as usual a lot of bloatware included... I prefer to do it manually using a modified windows thats very lite and bloatware free, so I can really take advantage of a fast Windows!

Appreciate it! We made the decision to start it up first out the box just incase for those updates so we didn't run into anything for the install

Would recommend everyone to always disconnect the power supply cable inside the Ally to be safe.

Yes It will bring you straight into bios automatically with a new ssd installed no button combo necessary.

Nobody changed SSD using the clone method yet. It's probably the easiest and fastest method compared to cloud recovery.
