Burgess Meredith (the very old man) is always a treat with a very long career. Some will remember him best as Rocky's trainer but for me it's as the original Penguin in TVs Batman.
boys, make a note to yourselves, watch this again in 30 years when you are both in middle age and this movie hits totally different. I laughed when I saw this movie as a little kid. as a grown man who saw his family grow up and move away it hits totally different lol we are all time travelers.
I will say this to you. Watch EVERY MOVIE Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau were in together. Watch them in their separate movies too, but it is a delight to watch both of them in comedies together.
Jack Lemmon (John) is in Some Like It Hot and The Apartment. Walter Matthau was in The Bad News Bears, Burgess Meredith was Mick in Rocky, Daryl Hannah has the lead in Splash, Kevin Pollock was in A Few Good Men for other movies they were in. They were a duo in several movies together, most notably The Odd Couple.
The one that I would add would be Mister Roberts from 1955...Jack Lemmon came close to stealing the show from Henry Fonda with his performance in that one. And as a huge bonus, you get to see James Cagney playing a villain.
@@itsreeeshaaa7560 It is one of my faves as well. Normally, I would have mentioned the fact that it was directed by the great John Ford, and that William Powell also starred, but these kids have no idea who either of those men are. LOL
The old guys in this movie are LEGENDARY. It was a gift to the universe they were able to make this movie at just the time they did. And Ann-Margret, a treasure for all time.
Did you see The Front Page with Carol Burnett and Susan Sarandon? It’s a remake of a Cary Grant movie, His Girl Friday. It was later remade with Burt Reynolds and Christopher Reeve.
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau were both comedy legends from the 50s and 60s. They worked together on "The Fortune Cookie" and both men won Oscars for their comedic performances (which is rare). So seeing them reunited in this film was a treat for audiences when it came out.
I can't believe someone got you to do this one! Now you have to do *Grumpier Old Men.* Another good one that doesn't get a lot of reaction time is *Second Hand Lions.*
Love both movies. No one ever seems to react to "Secondhand Lions". It's a shame since it is such a good story with really great cast, and they remind me of a great uncle who lived through a lot of major events through the 19th and 20th century.
If you are fortunate enough to get older, you realize how young you were when, in reality, at the time you thought you knew it all. Get ready, boys. Life is a trip!
That's a fact. When I was 15 I knew everything. The longer I live the more I realize what there is to be known. If I were to live forever I'd know that I know very little.
The TV series in the 70s starred Tony Randall as Felix Unger and Jack Klugman as Oscar and was based on the 1960s movie starring Jack Lemon as Felix and Walter Matthau as Oscar that it was so good it spawned the TV show plus numerous reboots.
Ann-Margaret, one of my first boyhood crushes. She was a dynamo, singing, dancing, acting (She played opposite Elvis Presley in "Viva Las Vegas") In the sixties and seventies she was what Hollywood used to call a sex symbol.
Ann Margaret was the literal Sex Kitten of her time. Her first appearance was in an AMAZING movie starring Bette Davis called "Pocketful Of Miracles." It's a feel good movie set in the last days of Prohibition and is a delight to watch.
The best part is those 2 men Jack Lemmon & Walter Mathau genuinely loved each other their whole lives. They died almost exactly one year apart and are buried near each other. Fitting that such great friends are reacting to this together!
Everyone forgetting to mention burgess meredith also a ww2 pilot, and his best appearance in twilight zone, the bank vault. The mans career spawned almost 100 years. Also ariel, ann margaret, was a huge pin up star in the 60s, and not to be outdone, sophia loren will be in the sequel. Must watch.
Daryl Hannah played the assassin "Elle Driver" in Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2. She wore an eye patch. A completely opposite character than she plays here. Really evil! She's also played a lead role in the movie "Roxanne" which is a great movie.
Daryl Hannah who played John's daughter was in Kill Bill as elle driver the one with the eye patch and she has been a alot of other movies like splash with Tom Hanks. The whole cast if this movie are legends.
Ann-Margret (Ariel) & Walter Mathau (Max) both co-starred in movies with Elvis Presley. Mathau in 1958's "King Creole" & Ann-Margret in 1964's "Viva Las Vegas". She & Elvis sizzled both on screen & off. They had a pretty serious relationship for a while. Then they remained good friends until his death in 1977. And I agree with others, you should react to Mathau & Jack Lemmon together in 1968's "The Odd Couple". That movie & their chemistry is legendary (& hilarious)! 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵
Cam&Zay love your channel. Isaiah almost spitting out his drink at John mocking Chuck. Cameron's reaction is always good. "Lots of ice out there, bbbbeeeep."
17:02 "Do you think she did something?" It's a romcom so probably not 😂😂😂😂 but I'd be willing to watch a horror/thriller version where Ariel is a Black Widow Killer for sure!
The stars in this movie have made a lot of films in the 20th century, many worth watching. Matthau and Lemmon were co-stars in several movies before this, especially Odd Couple. Ann-Margaret and Matthau were both in movies with Elvis. Burgess Meredith’s career went back decades and was in several Rocky movies and also Twilight Zone episodes in the sixties.
Jack Lemmon, Walter Mathau, Ann Margaret, Burgess Meredith, Ossie Davis, and Daryl Hannah ... just about everyone in this movie are all legendary actors spanning from the 50s to present day. The IRS subplot was a way to show the real love between Max and John by Max paying off the taxes John owed. Now, you must react to the sequel! Thanks for a great reaction, guys! ✌💙✌
I love this movie and its sequel. Anything (especially) Walter Mathau is gold. For the past few years I have posted the first snow of the season on my instagram story with the song at the beginning.
Cam with his speed rapping could be a spokesman for one those new pharma products with bizarro names where they list the "side effects" at the end of the ad at light speed - "May cause heartattacksstrokesbraintumorshypertensionskindiscoloration.." cetra cetra. Superb reaction BTW
Besides his roles in Rocky and Batman, he was very good in Of Mice and Men along with Lon Chaney Jr. from the late 1930s, and in A Big Hand for the Little Lady with Henry Fonda and Joanne Woodward in the 1960s.
Both actors were very successful making 'buddy' movies where there were two leads playing off each other. Because Acting Credit Rules were fairly straight forward with the 'top billed' actor being shown first, they would put the first name lower than the second which was placed higher to satisfy both parties.
I really hope that you'll watch Grumpier Old Men now. It isn't quite as good as the first, but Burgess Meredith completely steals the show and makes it worth every minute.
That's Daryl Hannah you should watch Splash where she plays a Mermaid and also Steel Magnolia's in which she plays a character named Anel, the only movie with my name in it!! The Odd Couple I think is the first movie Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau made together.
BTW Ann Margaret is a Really really beautiful talented performer and was a sex symbol in the 60's. She acted and sang in movies alongside Elvis Presley and entertained troops, and appeared with Bob Hope. Jack Lemon starred with Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe in a 1959 Classic, Some Like it Hot
UA-cam search.. Ann Margret and Elvis Presley, to see Ariel back in the day. Also Grumpier Old Men is a great sequel!👍 & it has another classic old time actress/sex symbol like Ann Marget, in Sophia Loren. These 2 movies are Classics 👍👍 Oh...& You'll love the bloopers at the end of this one too 😁 ✌️🇦🇺
The father, Burgess Meredith, played the Penguin on the original Batman TV show. You should also look up Anne Margret, Ariel. She is one of the most beautiful women of all time. * Check her out with Elvis doing "C'mon Everybody" from the movie Viva Las Vegas. If I was ever gonna be gay.... it would be for her. Lol

Every reaction I see to this movie I see I always request a reaction to the Walther Mathaw movie "Hopscotch". It is an old but very good and clever movie.
If your looking for a new genre, consider BL series, which means Boys Love. Not exactly a gay genre but it's close enough. Some I recommend are (in no particular order): Until We Meet Again, My Engineer, My Lovely Writer, Kinnporsche,* He's Coming to Me, What Zabb Man, Pitbabe. Gen Y S1,* Bed Friend, 2Moons2, Something in My Room, Love in the Air. These are Thai Bls. *Means not on YT.

Hope you guys watch Grumpier Old Men soon after this one!
And out to sea not quite as good as the grumpy old men movies but still funny
You guys have to watch the sequel. It’s so good.
i was gonna say just so everyone is on the same page we have 2 of these
Burgess Meredith (the very old man) is always a treat with a very long career. Some will remember him best as Rocky's trainer but for me it's as the original Penguin in TVs Batman.
His Penguin is legendary 👏👏
Burgess Meredith is why every other actor to portray the penguin, sucks.
@@harrypothead42024 speak for yourself because Danny DeVito was and is just as iconic.
Also brilliant in "Foul Play", with Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase.
Hilarious. I highly recommend.
He was in a few good episodes of The Twilight Zone too.
6:28 Ann Margaret is still SOO beautiful at this stage in her life. 😊
The classic film they did together 25 years before this was The Odd Couple.
❤! Classic
DEFINITELY! 😀
Lemmon and Matthau have been in TEN movies together. 'The Odd Couple' was the second; this one was the sixth.
@@libertyresearch-iu4fyI never knew they did that many movies together cover of 45 so I would be considered to young.
I saw it for the first time about 5 years ago. We loved it. It’s so funny! We’ve seen it so many times since. Their comedy chemistry is perfect.
boys, make a note to yourselves, watch this again in 30 years when you are both in middle age and this movie hits totally different. I laughed when I saw this movie as a little kid. as a grown man who saw his family grow up and move away it hits totally different lol we are all time travelers.

Mr Roberts is one of my all time favorite movies and JL is just wonderful in that movie. His final scene with JC is so legendary.

The blonde daughter you thought you recognized was a major character in both Kill Bill films - - Ellie
