That's awesome. I can shut off cards from the phone to stop impulse purchases too. Yeah, that's me. I'm like , oh, I can pay it back off. What was the point of paying it off then!!😂😂😂 one more truck almost paid off. I need a sticky note that the goal was to paid off all that to pay off that.❤
Good evening. Did you know you can grow popcorn from the organic non-GMO popcorn you buy at the store? I tried it this last spring and have to tell you I had 100 percent germination. There were at least 400 kernels per ear. I dried the cob out for about a week and tried popping the corn. I have never tasted such delicious fresh popcorn. All kernels popped.
I haven’t been to a grocery store in 11.5 months. I no long use them. I raise our own chickens, produce and buy the rest from friends of ours that our Amish
Mrs. H. It's a bit scary, no grocery store for a year, however YOU GOT THIS!!!! What a fantastic goal to set for the new year!! I wish you and Mr. H. the very best and look forward to future updates. Stay safe!! 🙂
I would love to join this challenge. It will take a bit of planning, we usually go about once a month to Costco or something like that. I ❤ the idea of being able to go a whole year without grocery shopping!
We have been using farmers marks in our community for 15 years, and we RARELY have to go grocery shopping$$$$, saving lots of money, too........................... from the Ozarks, cooking and eating at home, too
On the parcment paper, and items of that nature, check resturant supply stores, I have parchement, foil, plastic wrap ect. I bought them years ago and I am not even to half thru them .
We’ve almost always done this, we had a small celebration when we finished our first “restaurant roll” of aluminum foil. We got it when our youngest was in diapers about 25 years ago. We joked that the boys would inherit the new roll we bought (was even able to buy the identical item!)!
Even if you went to the store once in a blue moon, here and there, you are still way ahead of the game ....of course, serious eyeball to every ingredient in what you're buying. And, learning to do the homemade way on dairy products is key.
Today, I can't see a year as feasible for us. However, cutting back is very practicle. I think a mindset shift is in order for us. This is a great opportunity to evaluate what and how much we need. We can't produce our proteins, nor can we grow and store enough produce. But there are definately places for improvements. I accept your challenge to the degree we are able to practally.
We are in after Jan 12th my azure order will be here but after that we will do 1 yr as well without the store. Can't wait. I buy all cream cheese and sour cream bulk from azure and put in freezer and take out as needed. We accept challenge as well Mr. H!
Hi! I’m starting small. I bought seeds last year (as you recommended as a 1st step), AND finally growing 4 indoor vegetables. I’m hooked! I never thought I would enjoy gardening, but was motivated after watching your channel. ❤ your videos! God Bless your family!
Such a great idea!!! I’ll be watching y’all’s progress, taking notes, and working towards ,or away, from store reliance. You can make sour cream and cream cheese. Also when you harvest your fruits this year use the scraps to make vinegar. Don’t forget to swap and barter with others.
Every year we do the Three Rivers Homestead pantry challenge of no grocery store/eating from freezers/pantry for January and February. I’m excited to extend it for this challenge!!
I go every few months without the grocery store. Unsure if I could pull off a year but I'm going to shoot for three months maybe four and see where I need to prepare/grow/make more. I'll be rooting you two on!
Best wishes on completing your challenge! I try to only go to the store once a month, then commodities once a month. That is much less than when I used to shop once a week.
This is an excellent time for many of us to challenge ourselves, while it's a choice, on so many levels. We can all increase our self-sufficiency on some level. Thank you for the incentive!
I love my dairy cows. Making cheese has a learning curve but I'm working on it. If you have a favorite brand of sour cream, check the ingredients. If it's a cultured cream and doesn't have thickener you can add a couple of tablespoons to a qt of cream and let it sit out for 24hrs. Just keep doing that when you get low. I pull out the scoops before we use it so it doesn't get contaminated. It freezes well and still works. You can do the same with yogurt.
I am so thankful you told us about Azure. My family tries to order everything from them that we would otherwise get from the local store. SO much better quality & better experience. Not even comparable.
Hey Mrs H. This sounds interesting. Our problem is dairy as well. But will have 3 goats in 3 months. Thanks for the thoughts and challenge. Will keep you in the loop. From middle TN. ITS JUST A LITTLE FARM.
I cant even believe I do this but I've been buying those cartons of shelf stable milk from Dollar Tree. Started after that "C" thing swept through the world. It taste good and thank the Lord I'm still alive. Only thing is the dates only go out to about 6-8 months
Challenge accepted! We have a garden, greenhouse and chickens. In the spring ill be getting more beef from a friend. We can alot of stuff, but also put aside some store bought canned goods. We also buy 50# bags of flour and such as we make out own baked goods. I need to be more diligent with the garden, but stuff that's kept me from that is done now, except for my health, but i have lots of help. Thank you for all of your videos!!
I definitely hope to try this! Hubby and I eat whole-food plant based, meaning no meats, dairy or oils. So we do lots and lots of veggies, beans, whole grains, fruits of all kinds and anything God has given us that grows out of the garden! My thing will be to try and make a list of all my extras I use to make recipes and make sure I'm stocked up. Praying we can all do this together!
A year---!!! 1st of all, no doubt you can do it. Dairy and meat would be the hardest. Vinegar is EASY to make-buy some ph test strips. Sour Cream is a little more difficult but not all that hard to make. Growing horseradish solves the problem of buying. For sure it will highlight deficits in your preps. Bottom line- you need protein, grains, vegetables and fruit. Wanting to eat what you have is the real challenge. I know you can do it!
What a challenge!! I got my first azure haul this week , and I’m already getting my next order ready ❤I used your code. I did do a month and 1/2 no grocery story last year. I’ll try to go as long as possible ❤
I think it's wonderful. I can't but I do as much myself as I can. I'm so happy for you. You need a master sheet. I do too!!! I need to do an inventory of my home and make an alphabetized list of everything I use. Love Rebecca (tTt)
We are in. We had just agreed to figure out how to cut out Costco. That’s our last “grocery” store option. Azure is amazing! We are filling our basket now. It’s been working and since our Costco is so far it won’t be tempting we had to plan a day for that trip 😂! Look forward to your updates.
Mrs. Heart, I'm glad you said that we could try for 6 months etc. because a years supply the money isn't there for me but I will try the 6 months. I'm in. 💚 What a great idea.
I’m in! We have a garden, chickens and will raise another pig this year. We are working on increasing our pasture for a cow. I buy milk locally and have wanted to learn to make cheese and I buy beef locally. I think I can this!!
I will be watching to see how this challenge goes. A lot of this challenge relies on your everyday preps. I can all kinds of fruits and veggies, so I will be very interested to see how your pantry last. Good luck this is example for all of us that run to the store every time we turn around.
So excited to follow along. I’m doing a pantry challenge in January and February to use up stuff from my pantry. I don’t have a source of dairy, so will still need to go to the grocery store for that. I’m learning to make more things from scratch so we can stop relying on the store.
Wow a year with out going to the grocery store that means everything you need has to be gotten i would have already started my house inspection bless your heart thank you for sharing i wonder if this was something we all need to think about that is getting everything from head to toe cat food dog food bless your heart
Hello Mrs. H! I love the challenge idea! I'm going to make a plan for my family as well. What's up with that Uncle Tiger? LOL! This was a Great video!🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🫂
Yeast - Get a sourdough starter and you'll never need to buy yeast again! I'm going on 2 years with my starter and I love it! I haven't bought yeast since. 😊
We shop once a month at an Amish grocery store, otherwise we try really hard to avoid the grocery store. My downfall is cream for my coffee, lemons and an occasional avocado. I can't because I work at the grocery store. However, I have many canned goods and dry rice/beans that I have accumulated, and the only things that I would need are milk and meats. I'm going to organize and see if i need anything. I dont know if i have a years worth, but I have a good amount. I hope i can do it. Need to start my gardem. Have a nice evening. Thank you.

I will go one month without the grocery store beginning in March. I have to plan this out well. I am picking up an Azure Standard order on tomorrow. If March goes well for me. I will commit to no grocery one month out of each quarter.
Im planning out my garden spaces now. Im in an area where we cant even have chickens! I dont know any local farmers, but i know people who do so ill talk to them about the meats ill want. Its been 1 year exactly since ive bought bread. Im teaching myself how to preserve & can. Ill be making your red beans recipe soon😉! My husband was raised with this lifestyle, but im a city girl to my heart. Im learning as much as i can, & you two help a lot!
Hi Mrs. H! I actually just purchased a book called A Year without the Grocery Store. The author talks about Azure Standard! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😂❤
What a great idea! I’m going to buy that book!!
We will be doing every other month of no spending for 2025. Goals need to be met this year.
Tariffs are going to make imported foods extremely expensive 😢
That's awesome. I can shut off cards from the phone to stop impulse purchases too. Yeah, that's me. I'm like , oh, I can pay it back off. What was the point of paying it off then!!😂😂😂 one more truck almost paid off. I need a sticky note that the goal was to paid off all that to pay off that.❤
I’m with you starting off the New Year. Yes, goals need to be met, and will be met 😊
We’re starting with the first two months and see how it goes
It will be easier to do every other week
Good evening. Did you know you can grow popcorn from the organic non-GMO popcorn you buy at the store? I tried it this last spring and have to tell you I had 100 percent germination. There were at least 400 kernels per ear. I dried the cob out for about a week and tried popping the corn. I have never tasted such delicious fresh popcorn. All kernels popped.
How did you dry the popcorn?
That is so cool!

Yes!
We have been using farmers marks in our community for 15 years, and we RARELY have to go grocery shopping$$$$, saving lots of money, too........................... from the Ozarks, cooking and eating at home, too
That’s awesome!
Yep. We go once a month or so and only buy a few things that we cannot feasibly grow or get from local farmers. Everyone's situation is different.
I’m excited to follow y’all’s journey the next year! If anyone can do it, Mr & Mrs H can!
I'd love to start with just one month to begin with. I'm going to try it starting in January
Me too
I am going to jump in with 3 months! :D
Great way to start off the year!
Let's do.
This. Accept the challenge. No grocery for a year.
We are in after Jan 12th my azure order will be here but after that we will do 1 yr as well without the store.
Can't wait.
I buy all cream cheese and sour cream bulk from azure and put in freezer and take out as needed.
We accept challenge as well Mr. H!
Am in. I live in Jamaica and also use Azure standard. It really does take planning but it's worth it.
Azure standard has Nancy's Sour Cream. Absolutely delicious. We are going to try doing just Azure and our local farm store.
I am in! Love this challenge! We hardly go to a grocery store now❤
Hi! I’m starting small. I bought seeds last year (as you recommended as a 1st step), AND finally growing 4 indoor vegetables. I’m hooked! I never thought I would enjoy gardening, but was motivated after watching your channel. ❤ your videos! God Bless your family!

Oh no! Those poor little chicks. I buy from Meyer Hatchery regularly but they are local for me so I can go pick them up.
Every year we do the Three Rivers Homestead pantry challenge of no grocery store/eating from freezers/pantry for January and February. I’m excited to extend it for this challenge!!
Keep us posted. I love the idea of not shopping for a year. I have been stocking up so less trips to the grocery store
How I wish I could get my husband to be onboard with this kind of thinking.
Same here
Love hearing the frogs singing! Im excited to see your 1 year journey with no grocery store stops. I'd love to get there someday!!
Thank you for sharing, praying for you and your family. You are blessed to have help on your homestead/ keep up the good work and sharing ❤😊
Wow that is a great idea! This will take some planning! I’ll start with one month and work my way up. Thank you thank you for this challenge 😊🙏🏾
I’m glad you are up for the challenge!
You can do it. It helps you focus on what you have, what you can do and what is the enemy. ❤😂
@@amymartin7508 You are absolutely right! 🤩
This is an excellent time for many of us to challenge ourselves, while it's a choice, on so many levels. We can all increase our self-sufficiency on some level. Thank you for the incentive!
Hi, I'm gonna try 30 days and see how I do, then try for longer😊🌺
I love my dairy cows. Making cheese has a learning curve but I'm working on it. If you have a favorite brand of sour cream, check the ingredients. How exciting for more space ❤
Hello Mrs. H, so glad to see you ❤
Hello there!
I am so thankful you told us about Azure. My family tries to order everything from them that we would otherwise get from the local store. SO much better quality & better experience. Not even comparable.
Excellent! Don’t forget the milar bags and O2 absorbers.
Freeze dried radish powder into homemade mayo. Freeze dried Lemon zest too. Lemon greenhouse trees! So much to think about!
So glad you all are doing the No store bought stuff for a year. We are too. God bless y'all.
Hey Mrs H. This sounds interesting. Our problem is dairy as well. But will have 3 goats in 3 months. Thanks for the thoughts and challenge. Will keep you in the loop. From middle TN. ITS JUST A LITTLE FARM.
Dairy will be my only concern!!

Mrs. HOMESTEAD, I'm cheering for y'all I believe y'all can do it 🙏🏽🙏🏽👍🏽👍🏽💗💗
I accept the challenge, too! Ours will start in February!
I’m sure you guys can do it and I’m looking forward to watching you.
im always finding myself buying crap I really don't need. . it's a struggle
Hello everyone 😊❤
Challenge accepted! We have a garden, greenhouse and chickens. In the spring ill be getting more beef from a friend. We can alot of stuff, but also put aside some store bought canned goods. We also buy 50# bags of flour and such as we make out own baked goods.

I'm definitely in I have a year's supply of quite a bit,I hope I will be able to keep the tomatoes, lettuce and bell peppers going 😬
I’m going to do it too! What a great idea!❤❤❤
What a challenge!! I got my first azure haul this week , and I’m already getting my next order ready ❤I used your code. I did do a month and 1/2 no grocery story last year. I’ll try to go as long as possible ❤
You can do it! Inspiring me to start my challenge with 60-90 days 🎉
I think it's wonderful. I can't but I do as much myself as I can. I'm so happy for you. You need a master sheet. I do too!!! I need to do an inventory of my home and make an alphabetized list of everything I use. Love Rebecca (tTt)
I think that is a great idea!
Hint: if you have items in different location when doing an inventory identify where each item is located.
We are in. We had just agreed to figure out how to cut out Costco. That’s our last “grocery” store option. Azure is amazing! We are filling our basket now. It’s been working and since our Costco is so far it won’t be tempting we had to plan a day for that trip 😂! Look forward to your updates.
Hello Mrs H.we are doing 60 Days without Store . I am nervous I have to say.
Good for you! We live on 3/4 acre and rarely go to a store. You can do it easily!
Love this! I am getting meat rabbits this spring and planting my first garden! Good luck on your challenge!
I will be looking forward to seeing your videos this coming year. God bless, and Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄
Oh wow I’ll be rooting for you and keep up with your progress I’m sure I will learn a lot from you ❤❤❤
I will be watching to see how this challenge goes. A lot of this challenge relies on your everyday preps. I can all kinds of fruits and veggies, so I will be very interested to see how your pantry last. Good luck this is example for all of us that run to the store every time we turn around.
So excited! I will be following ❤
Milk and buttermilk can be frozen and you can use them to make ricotta cheese. Star with your goat's milk.
Looking forward to seeing you do this challenge.
That's a great GOAL.♥
I have been enjoying our pantry. I haven't been to a grocery store in a long time.
So excited to follow along. I’m doing a pantry challenge in January and February to use up stuff from my pantry. I don’t have a source of dairy, so will still need to go to the grocery store for that.
I’m learning to make more things from scratch so we can stop relying on the store.

❤Great to see you Mrs.H
Yeast can be stored in the freezer too. SAF instant yeast comes in a nice vacuum sealed brick.
HELLOOOOO MRS H!!!!!♥️🙏🏽
I have over 2 years of food stored up already. I'm in!!
Wow Miss Marie, Sounds like a BIG undertaking... Bless you in your effort....Rick in SW Pa mountains
Thank you so much.
I am going to give this a try. I will start with 30 days then work my way up to a year. This is going to be exciting
Hello Mrs. H! I love the challenge idea! I'm going to make a plan for my family as well. What's up with that Uncle Tiger? LOL! This was a Great video!🙏🏾❤️❤️❤️🫂
Holy cow…that’s a long time in no shopping, but I know can do it! I couldn’t..🤣🤣
I wish I could. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
Fantastic plan!!!💚💚💚
I would love to do this!! No shopping for one year and beyond!!
I’m in I accept the challenge as soon as I get my azure haul in January
Yeast - Get a sourdough starter and you'll never need to buy yeast again! I'm going on 2 years with my starter and I love it! I haven't bought yeast since. 😊
GROW your horseradish! or, savory spice has powdered HR . best choice grow HR, freeze dry, powder.
Somebody like me couldn't do it because I live in an apartment and I don't even have a yard.
Agreed. You can make space in the space you have but that space is still finite. Just do the best you can with what you've got 😊
Modify the plan to fit your lifestyle and situation.
We shop once a month at an Amish grocery store, otherwise we try really hard to avoid the grocery store. My downfall is cream for my coffee, lemons and an occasional avocado. Our garden and property produce about 80% of our food. I will enjoy watching you with this challenge. I may participate by reducing my grocery store purchases even more. Thanks for this inspiration.
Peace and Blessings. I am doing the month of December without going to the grocery store. So far so good. I only have spent 15. 00. I am going to try again in February.
I'd love to do this, I can go about 2 months, if garden would produce it'd be a lot easier.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
It's funny when you stop going to the store as much. It really narrows down a focus point and what you aren't using. Working on it. I see the weak point we can totally do without. I lost 20 lbs in the process.. it's only a win.❤ lol I accept the challenge. Lol. We bought what I thought was 6 months for him 2 years ago and he asked to revamp that. Ok.. look around... last call yall! ❤
You are bless to have a pickup point but not in my part of town and delevery is costly.
Mrs h I believe three rivers homestead does the same yearly challenge. If you visit Mary’s Nest, she shows you how to make cream cheese.
Thank you.
I LOVE the idea of going 1 year without the store, but my concern would be depleting my stock in concerning times...I guess if you are mostly sustainable it is not as scary. Thoughts?
To add on, I DEFINITELY think doing a 3 month would be better for us, that way I could still feel good about having good stock in case of an emergency! We are not on farmland, nor do we have animals. We do have a decent garden though.
It’s a good question to consider. Thank you for thinking about it!
That is an awesome challenge, however I think I will need to see what's going to be done in that new Administration before I commit to 1 year, but I will do 1 month or first 2 or 3 months.❤ We got this.lol😂
I think this is a great challenge!!
Very interesting. This is a huge challenge. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓
I will go one month without the grocery store beginning in March. I have to plan this out well. I am picking up an Azure Standard order on tomorrow. If March goes well for me. I will commit to no grocery one month out of each quarter.
😂😂😂 I'm following this journey. If you can do this I'm buying land immediately.
I believe in you. Thank you.
Be sure to stock up on chocolate
Im planning out my garden spaces now. Im in an area where we cant even have chickens! I dont know any local farmers, but i know people who do so ill talk to them about the meats ill want. Its been 1 year exactly since ive bought bread. Im teaching myself how to preserve & can. Ill be making your red beans recipe soon😉! My husband was raised with this lifestyle, but im a city girl to my heart. Im learning as much as i can, & you two help a lot!
We are just starting our new Homestead, so I don't have the storage space for all that up and running yet. I like the idea of it as a goal, though.
I divided my staples by month and stock a year’s worth of certain items each month.
