Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

Hello! I love this series. I just had my first batch of bunnies this week. Out of 3 does they gave me 32 babies! (1-10, 1-11, 1-11) I bought 3 Does and a buck for $50 with feed and hutches and it was the best decision I made! I appreciate all the videos because I would be lost!

Hi Sarah! This is a old video, I already watched and truly enjoyed the new series about raising meat rabbits. Binge watching it all as we want to start of with raising meat rabbits here in Germany. We are fearing the butchering part but we cannot stand how the industry fuctions. So there we are, trying to feed our 5 little ones. Lots of love and God bless you!

My folks aren't supportive of my interests in raising animals for meat (mum gets too attached to the animals and dad is a city boy) so learning about the trials and tribulations vicariously means a lot to me! Thank you for being so informative and clear about the things you've learned raising rabbits for meat, and thank you for making this series ♥

Wow, thank you so much! I am SO happy that you are learning from us and that you have a desire to raise your own food. Even though Kevin and I are homesteaders, we are still surrounded by people (including family members) who don't understand what we are doing and why we are doing it. But, we know that taking control of our lives in these ways is what's best for our family. Keep learning! I hope we continue to be an encouragement for you!

I found out that when a mama pulled hair, I knew she was close. I would hive the mama a small piece of salt pork. I found out that mamas did not eat the kits if they ate the pork. I used ice tongs to foster the kits, if one litter was big and one litter was small. Good information, nice video. God bless America.

Rabbits and I is love at first sight; I started loving them at a very early age when I saw the little ones in their nest for the first time and they were kind of flying in a white fluffy velvety cloud. I run to see mother and sisters. They wanted to throw them away thinking they were rats. Fortunately we consulted a relative. She told us the truth of the matter. We kept them and they made us happy. Thank you for reminding me of happy childhood moments...

Thank you so much for your videos on bunnies. I haven't bred bunnies for 20 yrs. Good check up for me.
We have decided to breed for food. (Because I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ bunnies) we decided I needed a couple fun bunnies to breed for pets. Well, we bought one, given one mini lopp both bucks. Then a month ago someone dumped 5 bunnies near a friend's house. She called, we went and got them. So 😠 😡 mad. These bunnies were so tame. Like they belonged to children who loved them all the time. There was 1 little buck, a tiny boy, our smallest for sure. He is an Angora mix. There also was 1 LG mini lopp.... good size for our bucks we have, then 2 little sisters- I think, they are 1 grey and 1 champagne and also a 'looks pure' small dark calico colored Angora. WE WERE NOT PREPARED. They went in our garage in dog crates. I had to put Angora with little man she GRUMPED at him and I thought maybe she was bred. None of the other 3 doe bunnies showed anything. We wanted to try to figure their ages on the 3 small ones at least and hope for the best on Angora doe. Feb. 19th - By this time, we have them in cages outside. Sisters ❤️ together, they love each other, LG mini lopp alone and the Angora and little man each have their own apartment too. 😆 🤣
On the 19th, I went to check on all feed and water as well. Little momma Angora had pulled hair, yet I did not see any kits. I knew this could upset the apple cart but NO CHOICE. Our nest box would not go in her cage. We switched her with the LG mini lopp. SHE IS VERY TERATORIAL, will bite after ⚠️ warning. I got all of little mommas hair and put in the back of the nest box with hay. I checked on her in a bit, and she had 2 babies and is a wonderful mum. I am pleased. I bred Mz Tera (as in her space do not mess with it) today with our solid blk mini lopp. I will breed little sisters with little man as soon as I know for sure they aren't still growing. I don't think they are. They are way too tame and sweet. I suspect they are grown little mini-mini lopps.
If you know of a way to age a bunny, please share. The other question I have is, should a mum loose or kill her babes, how long afterward would you re breed her? 🤔
These will be sold as pets, Easter bunnies, and such. However, the LG mini lopps are big enough to eat
    Blessings in our Lord 🙏
    Teresa

Hi, Sarah! I am a new subscriber. I just found your videos an hour ago and I am hooked, especially with your rabbits. My Grandfather raised Checker Giants for meat, so, our family has eaten much rabbit meat as we grew up. Grandfather would fasten an empty feed bag to the outside of the coop to give the doe more privacy during her birthing time. We were never allowed to handle new babies, though. I have to go check out your baby goat video! GOD bless!

But next spring I plan on getting meat chickens and and also start raising rabbits. I moved to montana 7yrs ago and 6yrs ago I started my homestead with some success and some losses. but i am learning a lot. Thank you for your ideas and lessons.Sincerely, Connie Rhoades

Sarah, I just had to share, thank you for your support and of course these wonderful videos.. We just had our first litter of 6 healthy baby rabbits (Kits) this morning, and although mom built a good nest, and pulled hair, she is a first time mom and had the kits at the wrong end of the box. Due to watching you videos and checking mom as you instructed I knew to move the kits and was able to move the kits promptly without a loss. (checked at 6 m feeding "no kits" checked when home from dropping kids at school, 6 kits at 8 am) We have Californian's. I have watched all your videos
(more than once) and gain new insight each time through. Our next doe is due tomorrow, and I can feel lots of kicking when I pet her. Thank you again for putting out these video's, taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. I am sure I will be writing to you again soon with more questions. I have one rabbit tractor, so need to go build another. :)

Wanted to update-checked my nests today and the first momma from yesterday gave me 3 more healthy babies for a total of 9 for her first litter and my second Doe just gave me 10 today. Second Doe did a better job of making a nest, pulled more hair and placed them in the back of the nest. No peanuts all healthy size and active. Squeeking when I counted them. I feel so much more prepared after watching you videos. Thank you many times over. We will definitely order any of our Amazon orders of anything via your site link.

I've wanted to raise wabbits for food for a long time. I know I can only 'raise so closely' because I wouldn't be able to slaughter. My husband is going to 'grow them out' and do that part. I have a few little bunnies for grandchildren and myself to love pet and handle.... maybe have a litter or two Easter bunnies to sale.
I absolutely thank you for doing this series. 💜 so much, so so so much.
    Who slaughters between yall?

Eargerly following behind. Learning a lot. Definitely going to learn a lot.
    Questions
    1) Is it true that if you touch kits soon after birth without touch the mum first, the mum might refuse to nurse the kits?
    2) Up to what age can one give a kit to another different mum for nursing?
    Thank you

Glad I found you. Just bought rabbits a week ago, male and females from different breeders. Female jumped out of her cage into the males cage and stayed there a whole day so I'm thinking there's a chance I get babies lol

My friend no I are hoping to be able to find property to raise meat rabbits, chickens, a bully goat and a couple of ducks....along with my cats, and our two dogs within the next year or so.
We are luvinggg your Raising Rabbits tutorials..... taught in an everyday easy to understand language. Learning NOW that it's not all cute and pleasant, sometimes there are the sad but normal happenings really is GREAT preparation for this future venture of ours.
Keep up the Great job ..... here's hoping you also have tutorials for Raising Chickens some as pets, some for the table, and of course pet ducks, and our must have Billy goat!
