Wow. I had so much fun at Heartthrobs. I worked in the coat check for a bit. My boys used to come (ballin') having me check their fur coats....lol. Nelson was my boy who worked there too. John Ferry was my boss. THen I just hung out and partied and danced. Ahhh to be 17-18 again...fun times
I AGREE!!!!
I remember John. He was the manager.

My spot in the early 80’s probably one of the best sound systems I’ve ever heard in any club.Lil Louie Vega on the wheels of steel just crazy back then

The Best times EVER!!!!!!!
Winter 88, this is the best moment for the pre hip hop hot 103/97. They would've beaten z100 this book if they had a morning show. Mix shows like this they were #1. What a cool time, dance music finally shed the disco label and hip hop didn't take over yet. This was true party music, what a treasure! Thank you!
How True 👀👍

Note on music quality: the original cassette where this recording came from was partially damaged (esp. the last 20 minutes), which impacted on the sound quality. My apologies. Hopefully, you can still enjoy this posting for its historic value (of New York's club scene back in the late 1980s).
NO PROBLEM BRO AND THANKS FOR THE POST... I AM ENJOYING THIS SOOOOO VERY MUCH, YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW, THE MEMORIES THAT CAME RUSHING BACK TO MY MIND!!!! MUDDY QUALITY AND ALL ..... I LOVE IT!!!! Reminds me of BEAT STREET & BREAKIN !!!!💃🎧🎷🎹🎺🎸🏃
No worries thank you for posting this. Hopefully you can continue posting these gems if you have some and are willing.
Memories!
OMG!! I remember that night, I had a copy of that recording and someone stole it out of my car when I went for servicing. The mixes Little Louie did that night were amazing. 👍🏼

WHAOOOO!!! 1987???? LOL, LET ME SEE NOW.....20 yrs old and had just came home from JOB CORPS upstate NY and that July or August was my first (AND LAST TIMES) visiting the PARADISE GARAGE, i probably would have went more but y'all know the rest (SEPTEMBER!!!!😢 ), another hot party in 87 was LARRY at Club Zanzibar right after GARRUCHI'S closing (LOL, if you don't know that name.... fuggettaboutit!!!😂😂😂😂) i really really really enjoy these old school tapes i hear here on YT,but the one I'm DYING to hear is the 1st of the 2 parties Larry played, that night was fucking AWESOME BABY!!! Can't take anything from TONY HUMPHRIES, he pumped too, but the night Larry played was..... SONIC!!! you could definitely hear that the RLA was CRANKED ,it was super super noticeable. Anyway THAT'S the tape I'm dying to hear again, peace & HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG!!!
In Hearthrobs was when he was more experimental and exciting IMO. I love that he used to play a lot of dubs and break mixes. He used to extend breaks for a long time (like from Show Me) and the bass bins in Hearthrobs used to thunder. Waiting outside to get inside was exciting because the doors and walls were shaking. He used to play stuff like Paul Revere and Ball of Confusion that had this crazy bass and on that sound system sounded sic. That was about 86’
Exactly sure condition vents vibrating... A light fell inside shit was booming so much and those extended dub mixes with the dudes and girls in the back stage going off dancing.
The Throbs was crazy

The spot in the late 80s! That "Cisco" had us bumping like pinballs off the funhouse mirrors in the entrance. LOL
Haha. Cisco. Damn, that shit was deadly. But always a good time, esp @ Heartthrobs
Yeah what was in that Cisco ? 🧐
@@begracefulonline my man died on that shit 88, we had 2 bottles of that grape. he turned into a loko, an shot it, it out with police you already know how the story ended. RIP POSO FSV
Wow this brings back so many memories. I had long hair and made sure I had on a great outfit. LoL. The 80's if only we could relive them again. I would go to Hearthrobs almost every Saturday then when it closed at 4am. I headed to my main spot the Paradise Garage. Little Louie came with us a few times and he brought a little crew with him. They knew the Garage was gay on saturdays but they were cool. Louie was amazed at the sound system the Garage had. It was the best in the country. I think that is when he really wanted to start changing his sound. I could be wrong. Louie always a nice humble guy. Good times!!!
Does anyone stay in contact with Alex the bouncer that worked at Hearthrobs??? Always had his hair in a ponytail????
You're right about Louie. I DJ'd on webster ave BX for a while and Louie shows up in booth and complimented my long mixes. From there got to meet everyone in the game.
