Wow! Cant thank you enough for this. I had been looking for this for a year and finally today I got the solution..liked and subscribed it instantly.and I wish you get millions of subscribers and tonnes of views in no time..lots of love to you from India!!
You make the editing process a LOT less daunting for new users. Thank you!
Hello Pat! I just started creating gaming video content last week, and trust me! All these tips and ideas you're putting out have helped me to actually appreciate content creation. You make complicated things look so easy. Honestly, this makes me feel confident that even someone like me who's still starting has a chance in video content creation. Thank you so much!
Can't stop watching your videos man! I'm learning a lot
i've been doing it wrong the past 3 months that i have decided to go searching for an easier method and you have saved me soo much time!! thank you patrick
As a somewhat new content creator, this was awesome! I've watched a couple of your videos and they are very simple step by step instructions! Great work, definitely got my sub!
Thank you SO MUCH! Your presets and Tips are literally the BEST!
This is so encouraging! I'm really trying to help out as many people as I can 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Hands down best method on the internet. Thanks bro. Love your breakdown
Really great tip! I’m going to use this ASAP! 🎉
Thanks for the video, also, one easy way to edit closed captions is to use a program called subtitle edit, as you can just click and drag on the waveform to both write and time the subtitles
Thanks for the quality video, friend!
Another AMAZING video!!! Thank you so much for this! I was just about to start learning about subtitles and BOOM this shows up.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
@@PatrickStirling quick thought/question that came to mind. Is there a way to combine the subtitles with shaky text? Or is it easier just to add another "text+" to use for shaky?
Fast, easy, free and very helpful! Thx a lot!
You're creative, thanks!
Thank you! This is going to save me a TON of time
Great advice, realy smart! Thanks 🤟
Thank you!
Great video man appreciate it!
I never thought to keyframe text like this! I've been using the subtitle track to keep formatting, and alt+dragging my text to copy them this whole time. This is very nice for short clips. I wonder why Davinci Resolve doesn't have an "auto caption" feature yet...it'd help a lot for things like this.
That's only just come to premiere in the latest major update. Maybe with time if black magic thinks it's appealing enough 🤷🏼♂️
Make our life easier. Thank you so much.
Brilliantly helpful.. thank you
Love this.
Wow! Been doing it wrong the whole time, excellent video Patrick, thank you!!!!
THIS GENIUS !
Thank you!
Brilliant!
Excellent content, very well presented, subbed 😎
Thank you!
ipanema! I love your style sir.
Oh This is great! Been struggling on making text for vids and thumbnails! Any easy step on making thumbnails in Davinci? Keep up the great work. Cheers from Finland.
thank you so much!
Thank you so much.
It's so funny.. adobe premiere key-frames seems much harder to me than this -- thanks for explaining it so easily, cheers.
excellent video, thnx
THNANK YOU
THIS IS AMAZING
great video, gonna try this soon. also for anyone who is only adjusting keyframes, you actually don’t have to go to the fusion page. there's a built-in key frame and spline editor in the edit tab when you select any clips that have adjusted keyframes. just click on the icons on the clips themselves, no need to go through fusion if that’s all you’re doing
For standard transform and time remapping controls that's true, but because we keyframed inside a fusion effect to adjust them after the fact requires jumping to fusion
@@PatrickStirling didn't know that before, i shall take that into account. thanks for that
thanks dude this is gonna be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo helpful, i was getting tired of copying and pasting texts, dragging them to the specific spot and all that jazz
Helpful Video!
Thank You!
Thanks
Awesome video, so much easier this way =)
Glad it helped!
you r a lifesaver
nice i didnt know that keyframe works like that and i was cutting every time big help
Hi Patrick. Not sure what the benefit is of using this method instead of just using the subtitle track you refer to at 0:46. You can customize the subtitles to look any way you want and it has the added benefit that the timing issue is much easier to deal with. If you want the subtitles to appear on the video, you can just select the option to burn them in upon export.
This looks good, will try!
I wonder how long a video this is feasible for? And how long it'll take to do the subtitles.. I'm doing
good morning I did not find add sub title track on my dav 18... is this the paid vision you are speak of, because I could not find it.
Broooo how have I been using Text Plus for like a year and never even noticed there was a keyframe button for the actual text!? This just saved me so much time and I feel so silly for not realizing it sooner.
Hey dude is there a way to change one of the letters to a different colour for example you had them all white could I just just one of the letters to something else ?
I've seen heaps of people on tik tok do this
This is great. Is there a way to get the audio to play on the Fusion page so you can adjust the text without going back / forth to the Edit page?
Hey Patrick how do you set the subtitles up to do the write on effect?
Hi Patrick. What if I make a mistake...I can't find an easy way to come back and delete or add text...I'm sure I don't ha to start all over every time I make a mistake
I can imagine you can still do pop in effects with this method of subtitling by just keyframing the size around each text keyframe and editing the spline as usual but how would you add camera shake or other effects just to one line of the subtitles? I add camera shake to subs when I'm super excited and the only way I've heard to do this is to make a compound clip. Is there anyway to keyframe camera shake as a fusion effect instead? Would make it way easier tbh.
Thank you so much for sharing this, I reckon you've shaved 30 minutes at least off of my editing time!
Curious as to why you didn't just right click the video track and "Add Subtitle Track" (unless that's only in studio)?
Nice video!
But is there any way to get a little zoom-in effect at the start of every new text? (Saw it in some Videos)
So if i change the color of one of my subtitles, will it change every single one or just that single key frame?
Can you also make each piece of text at the marker fade in and fade out?
do i always need to click on the key frame when i wish to add another sentence?
The subtitles don't show up after rendering the video in Davinci 18. They obviously show up in the editor but only in there. Any idea of the reason???
Any recommendations for having to change the size of text?
cool.
In one text plus effect , how many words can we write ?
The more I watch your videos, the more I realize I may never go back to Final Cut.
Tell me the name of the shampoo you use :)
How is the train you're working to?
can you do outro but different with others
When I try making keyframes over my video it starts rendering the rest of the video as I playback in the timeline. It makes the audio stutter and makes it difficult to use the same process you are in the video since I'm always waiting for the video to render before I can hear the audio clearly. Any tips for this issue?
I regularly disable the video preview and just set marker based on the audio where I need to set subtitles
@@PatrickStirling worked like a charm. Thanks for the help and awesome content!
there's no way to animate the text to pop up using this method right?
you'd just have to handle it a little different. instead of cutting the one master text effect I would animate one the way you want and alt-drag to create a copy with the same settings. you could always do it the original way first and then do the alt-drag trick so you have timing down first and then you can adjust each copy you make to match
@@PatrickStirling yeah I just alt drag a master and then adjust the timing. i was hoping that i could with still do it with this keyframe method to save myself even more time haha
In which universe is this a fast approach?
Subtitles original lost when trim...
So I'm making a lyric video, where the text pops up either line-by-line or word-for-word. And these all have animations. Is there a way to make this process efficient?
Up until now, I've been doing it the tedious way as you show in the beginning. Where I copy and paste the text+, and then change the word and add animations again..
Got something in the works for this exact thing!
@@PatrickStirling Awesome! I NEED IT LIKE SPONGEBOB NEEDS WATER
Catch the new video? 👀
@@PatrickStirling I did yeah! I think that method will help. I also copped your new plugin 🙌
5:43 - kind of important, but there is no visuals to follow, so pay attention to the words ))
I'm new to this software. I have a question when I import my downloaded video from Facebook and play it or export it after I edit it there is no sound at all. How can I fix this issue?
I've had several issues with people downloading clips from facebook. I think they do some funky frame rate stuff. the only consistent fix I've seen is converting the whole thing before bringing it into resolve.
@@PatrickStirling Thank you for the advice. I already try it out and it works, but It's time-consuming. Compare to Premiere pro resolve is much easier to use. I hope that there is a fix to this issue in the future.
Which font do I have to use for the subtitles?
Papyrus. It MUST be Papyrus! 😉
Pat, I’ve tried this 4 ways to Sunday with no success. I know it’s been over a year since you posted this. Have there been changes? Are you using the free or paid version of DR 17? Help!!!!
What part are you having troubles with? I'm using free version 17.4 and it worked fine.
what if there is nultiple ppl
Closed Captions are the traditionally hidden ones. The official name for these are Open Captions. :)
Did I miss how you turn the first caption off and start the new one all in one text block?
If I'm understanding you correctly I did it but just setting a keyframe with nothing on the text window
@@PatrickStirling Thanks
Thanks for the tutorial. It is quite clear and useful. I think you could combine it with a progress bar tutorial to create Gary Vaynerchuck like social media post for IG.
Ooooh that's a great idea. I'll definitely do that soon. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@PatrickStirling BTW congrats on the collaboration on EposVox channel! I really enjoyed it too!
I feel like such a derp using 30 text windows.
any idea how to make these subtitles like in Konfusion's Rust videos? I wanted to avoid using 100 separate Text elements and use just a single text element like how Patrick shows in this video
Here's the link to the rust video with the subtitles that I'm trying to mimic.

What is that deliciously annoying cover of Girl From Ipanema called? My partner hates it. It will be my new wake up alarm. I couldn't Shazam it.
Haha it's from the podcast Dungeons and Daddies. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
it doesnt work the way youre describing. you must be skipping some steps.
Nobody is stacking, color coding, etc these subtitles, in all of the tutorials.
yoooooooo
It's gonna take a very long time to add subtitles for a 20 minutes long video.
Brilliant!
