      Because those products aren't sourced locally and are not part of the daily staple. They are imported on foreign countries.

      Does prices are mostly branded and it has the supermarket's mark up.
      It's not uncommon to find an unbranded marketplace here.
      the more common price here in the Philippines is almost 2/3 of this price.

      Imported products are expensive everywhere. Most people don’t even shop at super markets in those countries they shop at their local village markets

    Prices where close to what I pay, the cheese was more expensive there..diapers and formula are expensive everywhere ! Fun video! A subject I'm well versed in.. 😂

    If you want to save some pesos, do your grocery in a local market not on expensive supermarket inside the mall. Local market or wet market have most everything locals needed, including fresh fruits, veges, fish, meat etc without paying the convenience price.

    The Nestle Fresh Milk (Boxed Milk ) Comes From New Zealand ,They Don't Have Fresh Refrigerated Milk In Philippines Because Of Hard To Transport Refrigerated Products To Deliver To Stores And Most Filipino Don't Have Refrigerators Unfortunately ! Most USA Brands Cost More In Philippines Than In USA Costs Alot To Ship It There !

      Cebu Dairy, we have fresh pasturized milk here, around P95 per liter. The wife is hooked on the chocolate, closer to P100. Normally only lasts for 5-7 days, unopened, refrigerated, of course.

    I can’t believe how prices have gone up even in the provinces. Man the prices for cheese is insane and $40 dollars for Grey Goose oh hell no! I’ll take the Red Horse lol

    The difference in imports and local is insane! Seems like the necessities are reasonably priced though. Going off usd anyways. I doubt it is for locals that get paid in pesos though.

    Thank you for the video, you just gave me and my filipina wife an idea how expensive things are there, we are couponing here and finding markdowns and going to send her family a few balikbayan boxes to the Philippines.     Prices were expensive for Western products in Philippines and its same price in the US. These are the reasons why Pilipino wanted to work abroad to bring dollars back to our country

    That food is just as expensive as the USA, except for rent.
    A small studio apt is now between $1500-$2000 bucks.

    Im surprised to see a few Swedish brands. Phillipines gotta make more of their own stuff, cant expect a product made in a western country shipped all the way there to be cheap.

    Relax Tim, Just stay around the homestead a little longer. I've been in Thailand since Sept 2019. It's too easy for us ex-pats. Just imagine being in the States. Don't be a cheap Charlie when it comes to your family. Don't get me wrong but we are paying pennies where they are paying dollars elsewhere.

    Imported products like cheese, olive oil, and products that are not locally grown or sourced out are really expensive. Another consideration is the demand and market for these products: they aren't part of the staple foods in the country.
    Prices for white rice varies depending on its variety.

    Not just in the province. Prices are rising everywhere. With the dollar gaining, prices from imported goods are expected to go higher specially for fuel so even local produce prices will increase.

    I never heard or saw Starmilk before in Germany. However, it is surely same bad as the other milks in the Philippines because it is not a fresh milk but an H-milk.

    In Singapore, the same tub of ice-cream costs $9.95 Singapore dollars....
    Which is why I don't eat ice-cream much anymore... :-(
    This is due to the fact that MOST of these brand name products are imported and not made locally...
    More local industry will help stabilize pricing and give people choices...

      I’ve heard they are generally better quality fans in the Philippines than in the Family Dollar. Especially the tall floor fans.

    Food seems to be cheaper in the local markets there. Seems prices are comparable to what we pay here in the US for olive oil vodka and tide. How do they survive on $40 a week. Wow!

    I know it's higher but stick to the olive oil Tim. Red Horse in California a bottle is about $2.00 but of course it's imported, going to be higher. My Wife is chatting me and video call daily from Leyte and it's raining a lot. We were planning to go to Kalanggaman Island for a day or two but not sure now if it's going to be raining so much. I got a few weeks to go and I'll be heading over. have fun

      It’s for export only. It’s lower grade milk thats bleached & deodorized. They export to Africa as well and bank on the Made in Germany label. Capitalism :)

    Prices are not that far off from the US. An 8 oz bag of shredded Parm costs about $3+ but you can get it on sale for like $2.79. Time to potty train the little one then you save on diapers. Doesn’t Dale have a Yaya (Nanny) ? Have the Yaya potty train him. The Olive Oil is super expensive. You can get a 3 liter bottle here for about $10 in Sams

    You are at the metro gaisano in maasin and you live in burgios i lived close to you i lived in that area door 7 years we just moved to cebu if you get a chance try having a frosty right by the door as you walk in to metro does strawberry for the chocolate are very good
