I remember this show it was on in afternoon when i was a kid i thought it was the most boring show in the world. Looking at it now i would of loved to watch all the re-runs.
Thank you so much for this video clip, there in the studio were two of the famous Goon Show assemblage, and, despite decades of dedicated listening to Goons episodes, I had NEVER seen Ray Ellington in closeup before.
My favourite part of this is Ray Ellington, who isn't even mentioned in the title, so it came as a delightful surprise. I've never heard his speaking voice before. But he's truly one of the most charismatic and fun band leaders and singers I know.
This was a year before I was born, all are sadly gone now☹️ remember Peter sellers in films as I was growing up and of course terry in the carry ons and terry and June and sadly June had now also passed. RIP
I used to love this show. Dennis would always open with “if you’re one of those people who (for example) no longer combs your hair in the morning but arranges it, this is the programme for you “.
How wonderful...yes ray ellington...never saw him but remember manuel and the music of the mountains...geoff love of bush hiill psrk enfield..where i grew up..but these atars.. stella tanner...nice vpice but i dont remember..the 60-70`s free with most comedy..now its so saD..ilfracombe...devon i think but yes..these stars never to be repeated..thanks for these..nostalia brings up more memorys..
Shame it's been edited to remove 'the turns' they were commenting on. Looks Familiar gave a fantastic retrospective on the early days of recorded entertainment and of course those who appeared on it are themselves now bygone legends of the entertainment world.
This was only 1975 - nothing in terms of time, but every one you see here is now dead. ... You don't have long in this life everyone, make as much of it as you can, while you can.
@starchildstrider lovely story i had a similar experience when i collapsed with heart failure woke up in a high dependency unit where i was not expected to last the night.remember feeling indifferent but then the man in the other cubicle died.i found out after it was anthony mingheela who directed the english patient what i recall i thought sod this its serious and somehow survived.i have now moved to spend my days with my granddaughter and yes i want to live.thankyou for a wonderful post
@starchildstrider it was them told me! i had been inintensive care but this super level seemed to be all those who were dying!i was determined not to go! the good thing was due to my unexpected recovery i was still so ill they gave me a month so barts hosp picked me up for a private experimental surgery,my catheter ablation was the first one done in the world with a defective heart! didnt cure me but alleviated my symptoms and i had three years of private medical care free! currently my heart works at 20 percent capacity cannot exercise or strain it but the doctors are baffled as to why i still live! strict drug regime has helped but i live every day as it comes even more now i have a greand daughter ! see her every day she keeps me going.as far as i am concerned my last 9 years are a bonus which i want to enjoy for as long as i can!please keep in touch im on fb too loved your posts,
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Beverley Sisters (gunshot) The Beverley Twins (Gunshot) Miss Beverley will sing (Gunshot) Everybody dance" The Goon Show. (1985)
Peter Sellers | Denis Norden | Terry Scott | Looks familiar | 1975 1929pm 24.11.23 no, i never got that from him... but enforced recognition does have me think: aye... does a bit...
Shame that Sellers decided not to play ball to the obviously rehearsed feed lines. Was he just in a bad mood? I don't think I would have had Dennis Norden's patience with him.
I take your point Sid. I suspect that it wasn't so much Sellers being surly, but simply him being a bit out of his normal comfort zone. Fortunately, Dennis Norden persisted and Sellers started to warm up and perform. I suspect that by the end Sellers really enjoyed the experience.
These personalities take me back to listening to the Radio when I was a youngster,I’m now nearly 83 yrs old - Bless them all ❤️🌏❤️🌏
Wonderful to see Terry Scott, he doesnt get the credit he deserves, he was loved in the UK, Peter was great here also

Geez, this is the most British and most 70s adult thing I've ever seen. It's glorious.
Ray Ellington played a big part of the Goons show absolutely brilliant.
lovely to see people remembering ray Ellington
Wonderful and Terry Scott’s fashion is a must have!

This was the reason Rory Bremner's impression was so accurate.

Terry Scott and Peter Sellers...genius x2
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111
From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
Wonderful interview.
anyone else singing along with the Thames TV tune?? 🙂
thankyou for sharing this..
Ray Ellington who sang on the Goon Show every week, and whose son Lance sings on Strictly Come Dancing these days.
Great triva! I didn't know his son sings on Strictly.
Ray was also drummer for Harry Roy pre war.
He also played The Red Bladder and other Goon Show characters. My favourite line: ‘Open this door, Bloodnock, or I’ll write to The Times, begorrah!’

Well to be fair it was 44 years ago.
Mind you, Denis Norden only died in September last year (2018), so he definitely lived a good long life!
@starchildstrider i hope you are doing well my friend

Yup. Hahaha.
Denis Norden, longtime panelist on My Word and My Music !!!
No.
I don't know why, but I couldn't watch this without the thought of a Curly Wurly popping into my head. 😂
Terry Scott looks like he's wearing a cast-off costume from 'Carry On Up The Jungle'. A snake tie and safari suit?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maybe borrowed from Roger Moore....
More please.
From a time when we had actual talent and stars.
Fabulous can we see the whole programme please 😌
I'd love to see the whole of this interview!
Brilliant. Please out wholeshow up Thames please !!!

Roy Ellington was the band member part of the goon show of course
Is every show just reminiscing?
One from Fawlty Towers.
I think Dennis Norden is sort of badass here, putting Sellers down. And Ray Ellington looks like he’s just humiliated Scarface in the De Palma film
Who is the lady?
It could be Spike Milligans stooge on his Q 2 comedy show,
Norden did address her as Stell neat the end
Looked it up Stella Taner , singer, comedian, actress, endless
Sexy voice.

At that time (1975) he was in a real downturn in his career, I think
@@tomhaskett5161not sure about that he’s just made Return of the Pink Panther
