I was 14 when this was shown and it was around then that someone bought me a copy of Donald Sinden's autobiography "A Touch of the Memoirs", a really entertaining read, full of theatrical anecdotes but also fascinating insights into the theatre and the film industry. It's sobering to think that back then 1942 seemed like ancient history but it was closer then than 1982 is now!
Can only echo what everyone else has been saying, these are quite, quite marvellous. A minor point: why on Earth didn't they stick the autocue nearer the camera, so it at least *looked* Denis' eyes were looking down the barrel of the lens?
“You can’t take it with you so you might as well wear it out”…. Reminds me of Chris Hitchens when he said “it gives me no peace so I give it no peace either”
How wonderful is this. Proper enjoyed. Fabulous find 👏
Enjoyed this. Three very talented people on the sofa. Sinden had the most wonderful voice!

Artie Shaw and his eight wives. I love the Norden line “He worked on the theory that if you can’t take it with, you might as well wear it out.”

He didn't have much to say to Matt Monro 😢
Whats the intro called.
It’s a 1940’s song “Seems like old times” written by Carmen Lombardo & John Jacob Loeb.
