Peter Sellers was one of the funniest men who ever lived. I thought I would lose my bladder control watching this scene. I also thought that Dean Martin would too. I'll bet that no one had any idea that Peter Sellers would do this routine in this character. He could just as well have come out as a mob boss and been just as hilarious. R.I.P. Mr. Sellers. A GREAT talent who left us far too soon.
@@bethzacovic7343 Stink?.. it's funny as anything. they are not being "malicious" if you go look at their work it's them trying to make the others laugh, just part of their "routine". Just like Don Rickles telling jokes. They just go overboard trying to make their fellow actors laugh.

I love how Dean has such a hard time handling Peter Sellers in this sketch. Just too damn funny. They’re having so much fun too. To me, this is what comedy looks like.

@@judgeberry6071 Yes! I did. That proves my point. There were lots of good comedians and comedy programs on TV before. The comedy in question was on TV so it's very much in the debate.
This is an amazing bit from the Dean Martin show. Peter Sellers, Dom DeLuise and Nipsy Russell sith a priceless ad lib five minutes into the sketch. I’m literally rolling on the floor!
I truly miss the variety shows we used to have. New people every week with lots of skits. Live with mistakes and all. Red Skelton was one of my favorites along with Dean Martin.
Besides his occasional pantomime what I miss most about Red is that if you "riffed" with him onstage he'd do that right back entirely in character and simply not relent. The audience would laugh and likely think that was all part of the scripted routine. He was a genuine anarchist. If it's still on the 'tube check him as George Appleby in a routine with Harpo Marx.
The way Peter Sellers immediately cracks up Dean kills me every time. When Peter was supposed to play Orville Spooner in Kiss Me Stupid the same problem arose. Dean couldn't keep a straight face take after take. Then Peter had his heart attack and was replaced by My Favorite Martian. I wish he stayed in that movie. THAT would have been something special.

Saw this with my father when it first played on NBC, we laughed so hard. Peter Sellers knew how to bust Dean up through the sketch; Nipsey Russell's ad lib about being the "token straight" was classic.
On Match Game when a white lady contestant matched with Nipsey, he mentioned how come everyone else get's kissed, the lady came over and gave him a big kiss (the amount she won was enough to almost buy a house). I can't remember if he said "Once you go black, you never go back" for sure (I believe so), as I saw the show when it was on in the 1970's, but it would have been his type of adlib, Nipsey would have given.
Absolutely! While Frank had the more authoritative voice, Dean was by far the stronger entertainer. He was so chilled with everybody he worked with and was the only member of the Rat Pack to truly conquer the field of television!
Sam Topeka 👍🏻I just happened to have a utube come on my iPhone the other morning. Every song was great, and yes, I heard him singing a Western song, that was very nice. I remember thinking that to myself, that it must have come from one of his Westerns, he starred in.
