Never Before Seen Greg Giraldo vs Heckler

- Fantastic never before seen clip of the late Greg Giraldo responding to an audience member shouting out something incredibly random. This video definitely shows why Girlado was a crowd favorite.
I've never seen a comedian deal so well with a heckler without humiliating the heckler. He got a couple minutes of material out of it and it seems like he got the guy to shut up too. RIP Greg. One of the best.
lol the heckler definitely felt humiliated
Oh. He indeed humiliated the heckler.
Rip my fav comic.
That wasn't even a heckler, so I doubt the person was even humiliated and instead was probably laughing about Greg turning a random comment into a bit.
@@kjc0517 God damn I know. I miss this dude esp with the comedy today
"Like the Iceland/Greenland scam" lmao. I love how he just casually snuck that in there.
I lost it when he said that
What scam?
@@kikiu2619 Greenland is actually very cold and Iceland is more temperate. So Greenland named themselves that to trick people into thinking is wasn't such a freezing cold place.
@@amandahector9074 Ok, thank you. That's the myth.
Greenland actually was 'green' 1200 years ago when the Vikings settled there.
@@kikiu2619 the story i was told was the vikings landed on the only shore of greenland that isnt snowy as balls, and icelands only snowy shore🤣
Greg, you're always missed man. You were the smartest and, IMO, the greates comedian to have ever lived. R.I.P man!
Easily. IQ wise there's no comparison today
From that short 2 minutes you can see a real comic. Fluid and comfortable on stage.
"the Iceland-Greenland scam" that line went over so many people's heads...RIP legend
right....for the people that don't know,...Iceland is actually green.
..should probably add, ...and Greenland is actually ice.
@@darryltaylor9916 and that it's a scam because vikings named them as such to trick invaders into landing in the cold, while they chilled in the greenery :D
Well at least, that's what I've been told.
This guy was quick, spontaneously funny and always made it look easy. While he was alive I always liked finding new videos and material from him, it's too bad that he's gone.
Greg was one of the smartest comics out there. He actually went to law school and got his law degree but never really used it. Damn, he is missed.
Harvard Law! A man with a "Crimson" tongue and yes, we could all see that fucking segue! Lol shit, GG, when you were GOOD, you were THE BEST.
Brian Catron He could run smack with the best of them. I found out who he was when he was on Tough Crowd. I miss that show. He and Nick DiPaolo were great.
DiPaolo and GG on CQ's show burned them so badly, they wished to have been stillborn. DiPaolo, like Giraldo and Leary, goes back quite aways. I'm 37 and I remember seeing him really ascend as a teenager , in large part due to the inception of Comedy Central and also HBO's One Night Stand, YOung Comedians Special, etc. and he was great as the landlord on "Lucky Louie.", which was cancelled after one season. Chowdergargling fucking HBO!
He was already a lawyer for like 2-3 years when he quit if I'm not mistaken. He mentions he walked into his bosses office and says "dad I quit" in one of his specials or interviews
Dee Vee is that why you didn’t go?
Man I miss him. He was by far one of greats
I wish there was more of these. I really miss Greg. I wish life would’ve been nicer to him. The world needs him now more than ever.
R.I.P. fellow comedian.
Lots of people had love for greg when he was alive. Life can be cruel but you cant blame it. He made his choices
Miss him too dude
Life ?
As an active addict
It wasn't life
I rather live his short bright life, than my long dull life .
"Don't go to Utah for jello" is an innately funny sentence.
RIP Greg, amazing instincts
Title is misleading... clicked on it and 263,923 other people have already seen this....

The fact that he could take that dopey comment and turn it into 2 minutes of material is genius..rip Greg
Man, I miss his comedy. Smart stuff.
this guy was a true master

Or Michael Barrymore's..
Everyone knows that now.
I know that's right!
He was awesome; even in the worst of roasts, he always had a hilarious set. One hell of a comedian. A real shame what happened to him, just a few less smiles in a world that needs more of them.
Yeah, he crushed every roast.
Lost him and Mitch Hedberg
Mitch lost himself unfortunately
Freaking comic genius...
He riffed on all that, and he didn’t need to insult the audience member once.
u know how some people say they were great after that person has died. This guy was a master of his trade at life and a legend at death.
Ello Gubna Yeah, I kind of hate it when people say that someone was great only after they passed away. Mitch Hedgberg was good, but he wasn't as "great" as people say he was. I enjoyed his comedy, but he was no legend. But Greg truly was a legend. He really was someone who I felt would have been really huge by now.
88Keyz102 What's with the Hedberg disrespect? He was a brilliant comedian. I was a huge fan of his before he died, and I was super happy to see him live. My greatest regret in life was not seeing him a second time (because I was poor as fuck and thought I'd get many other chances). His style of humor was incredibly hard to write and very unique. His status as a legend by those who consider who consider him so is completely justified. He was a unique talent that, in what was only essentially a two year career, brought us a huge array of memorable material. (And I agree on Greg. He was an incredible talent. Him and Mitch were very different, but both worthy of legendary status.)
Momentum Knockout
*"What's with the Hedberg disrespect?"*
I'm not disrespecting him. I'm just saying he wasn't "brilliant". He was good. I loved the "receipt for a donut" gag and I'll give him props for originality, but... he was no legend, get off that shit. Why didn't anyone consider him a legend when he was a live on stage?
While we're at it... Bill Hicks was an awesome person, but he wasn't always funny. He was smart, insightful, and furiously motivational, but he only made me chuckle here and there. He was good... but he wasn't a legend in my book either.
I don't doubt your sincerity in thinking Mitch was a legend, but most people just talk shit on the bandwagon after someone dies.
88Keyz102 You're being a stickler for your own personal definition of a word that, by the way, is clearly defined. That's an odd behavior. "Legend" already has a definition, regardless of whose picture is next to it in your "book".
The other note from Momentum Knockout about Mitch's "two year career" is a little unsettling... He and Stanhope were on the road in the early to mid 90s and Mitch checked out in like 05... He had a solid enough run to earn unsparing reverence from everybody in the game.
It's like saying Patrice O'Neal wasn't a legend because he never sold out and gave up a part of himself to be on some hack sitcom. Legends live forever and, until the bitter end, people will venerate Mitch as a comedic legend without any regard for the pretentious opinions of a select few.
Jerry Seinfeld never really made me laugh, stand-up, sit-com or otherwise. But I'd never proclaim that his inability to make me laugh somehow detracts from his status as a comedy Legend. "Legend" isn't open to interpretation.
Shawn Martin You made a very good argument leading me to conceded 1 point. Although I never propose he wasn't a legend because his career merely wasn't "long" enough as you insinuated, you're right in that the literal definition of "legend" isn't open to interpretation. You got me on that, but I think everyone here was smart enough to understand what I meant: in the fact that I don't believe he was as good as some people claim he was.
But that being said, as good as your argument was... here's the flaw: Mitch wouldn't fall under the literal definition of legend *either* since even though he was well known to stand-up circles and comedy buffs, he wasn't very famous outside of that demographic. Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock... those are house hold names. Mitch Hegberg is not (even though I don't really think 2 of those guys were funnier than Mitch). So even with my mistake, he still literally is no legend (in anyone's "book").
Lol what a genius. I'm starting to appreciate Greg the more I hear him. I was listening to the comedy channel on the radio the other day and some comedian was talking about something that was so smart and funny and I was wondering who this brilliant comedian was, and at the end they said it was Greg Giraldo and I was totally impressed. I knew he was funny but didn't know just how talented he was. I'm gonna have to go back and listen to all his stuff now.
"Got myself a special spoon" lol!
pauly meatballs nice bib
"Huh? Oh...your fourth wife makes bad jello? OK...well, now you're mixing in a little polygamy which makes more sense." LOL.
A LEGEND! RIP
Thanks for the Flashback and something new from Greg. He was such a remarkable talent.
He went pretty easy on the heckler.
The great comics usually play with hecklers rather than just crucifying them.
it was a pretty innocuous heckle
Greg is not mean.
PinkishFloyd - except when he’s roasting someone...ouch..!
@@TheWorld_2099 That's fair play though. They know what they signed up for.

Greg Giraldo was amazing and deserved to be much bigger than he was. I do love how the clip says "Never Before Seen" just above the close to 1 Million views.
I can honestly say I've kept Giraldo's advice here. Never -- I mean not once -- have I ever gone to Idaho for cupcakes.
This is amazing. Had he sat down and written this out as a bit, it couldn't have been more brilliant. What a quick mind.
A straight up genius. RIP.
Eight people went to Utah for jello
Utah really does have the best Jello though.😂😂😂
NYCerious *Yello
NYCerious oh man you should be comic
I've been to Utah for Pussy but not for Jello.
Fun fact: "Don't go to Utah for Jello" won best picture at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016....
Greg was brilliant. Quick witted and very very smart. RIP.
Rest in Peace Greg...... Miss your comedy buddy
googled utah and jello, turns out its the state official snack of utah. fuckin sad.
Heckling a professional comedian is like thinking you can run onto the field, grab a football and brush past an NFL linebacker on your way to the end zone. They do this sh#t for a living and you're not going to win.
More like a one on one sport. Boxing- all that alcohol won’t make you a better fighter than a professional pugilist
...he riffed off that brilliantly....miss you Greg🌻
He is sorely missed 😔
"Got myself a special spoon, nice bib...."
😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂
Not a heckler.... Just saying something random and Giraldo roasted them
If you open your mouth and talk to the performer you are a heckler.
"Thinking of going to Idaho for cupcakes? "... "Parrish the thought" 😂😂😂
A true talent gone
The man was a master of comedy -RIP
"Special Spoon" was the funniest part!
Now i just want to know what kind of fucked up Jell-O experience that person had in Utah.
👑The real KING of the Roasts!
Saw this a long time ago. how is it never before seen
"You ruined my summer vacation plans." Wow. Perfect.
2:15 I thought "Motor oil's funny but what if he went with another dessert? Like cupcakes or something" and my jaw hit the floor lol
Hard to say since we were not there but entirely possible w/in the context of Greg's joke that the heckler was interrupting Greg's act with an anti Latino joke (Utah's Latin pop has boomed) and Greg masterfully re-framed the interruption to completely humiliate the heckler. A job expertly done by one of the most intelligent and quick witted comedians to ever grace the stage.
R.I.P. the Sweet Prince of Comedy. What a fucking SAVAGE Giraldo would fucking scortch anyone. Fucking GENIUS
man i wish there was more clips of him dealing with hecklers. this is literally the only one I could find. Althou I do love his fight with dennis leary
Utah resident here. I think the audience member was probably referring to the abundance of jello at church social gatherings. It is not like every restaurant serves jello or everywhere you turn, "There's some more jello!"
But if you do happen upon jello at a church function, it may have shredded carrot in it.
And mayonnaise on top.
I'm not even making this up. wish I was.
Danny Johnsen having actually been raised Mormon, yeah. I can confirm, extremely conceited attitude is prevalent there.. I don't know why they like weird jello though.
Mitch ZImmerman yeah :-) I too was raised in "the church"
Danny Johnsen *big ole facepalm* yeahhhh...
DGPrepper
Whew...thanks for clearing that up. Now I can sleep.
Fantastic! Thanks Comix!
That is some classy handling of an enthusiastic audience member.
Dude was a genius. All those roasts are half-baked without him, if you ask me. Don`t go to Idaho for cupcakes...wtf...lol.
A master at work.
All the dude did was put the shoe on the other foot and build absurdity around it.
And it's uncommonly great to create like this....more than worth the time
Geraldo was a brilliant son of a gun.....unlike many other comedians he didn't just have an angry rant he made a hell of a segment out of it...and quite creatively too.
Pretty humorous; in large part because it is quite random, indeed; and Greg obviously knew that and smoothly riffed on it for 2+ minutes.
I really missed this guy! He was one of the best comedians of our age. But at least we still have Bill Burr, and Dave Chapelle.
Don't go to Idaho for cupcakes! Fuckin' brilliant.

Me when I die: Where are Hedberg, Carson & Giraldo?
Hats off to the heckler. He inspired an entire Greg Giraldo bit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Certified Legend
would you ever change the title?
No heckels, just audience participation.
It's too damn bad this man wasn't around longer. Absolutely brilliant comic.
He should have said back to the jello guy "I got a piece of advice back for ya, don't go to Michigan for Water."
When you think about all the comedians out there who have hit it big and never in their life said anything funny, it’s amazing that this guy wasn’t embraced more by the entertainment industry. That just proves that it’s not really about entertainment…..
I did stand up in early 80's, here in RI, Boston, NYC, and LA, I love your comment. I'm thinking about all the 💰💰💰 made by Jimmy Fallon, Trevor Noah, Steven Colbert, Ellen, SNL hacks, not one has ever said anything funny....for me personally, the following have: of course there's Greg, Bill Burr, Patrice O'Neal, Anthony Jeselnik, Dave Attell, Doug Stanhope...toss in John Pinnette and Gafigan, they all have made me laugh....then there's Dane Cook, how is this unfunny hack so wealthy? 🤔
@@kevinwalsh4652 Boston is where the current form of stand-up comedy began at a Chinese restaurant no less! The Boston comedy scene was legendary to comics back then. I agree with the comedians you think are funny and worked at the comedy store with Bill Burr, Patrice O’Neal and Dave Attell.
From everything I’ve learnt about Greg, he was definitely embraced and given all the opportunities. However he was an addict which made his life impossible to sort out. On top of that the guy had a brilliant mind so when you combine that with addiction there’s no way to win. Poor dude

One of the alltime greats
not so much a heckle, but funny shit.
AMP3083 I hear you, but its all 'live' key word here, so with what youre saying, even if someones laugh is too eccentric or loud during the show, it could be considered a 'heckle' as it could mess up his/her flow. but most comedians are better off improvising in that very moment anyway, as they usually play off the crowd so i believe there is different purposeful/negative/positive forms of heckling.
AMP3083 Thats kind of my point actually with what i was saying, coughing , sneezing whatever doesnt matter what it is its the logic youre implying that anything that messes up the overall 'flow', which i dont consider heckles either. sometimes talking depending on negativity/positivity helps the comedian in some cases, others not so much, it kind of varies tbh.
I think you're supposed to laugh at comedy shows. And, most comedians I know crave the laughter, no matter how annoying it is, as long as it's genuine.
Definitely a heckle.
+Adam Soullier I'm a standup comedian and I can assure you that this is a heckle. Anything that is said, that has meaning and is done deliberately is a heckle. Laughs and coughs may throw someone off a teeny but those definitely don't count as heckles.
handles the heckler smoothly. for the level of concentration this comics have to have on stage, someone interrupting them whether meanly or without harm here is an act of heckling. Giraldo handles it like a pro.
Greg Giraldo was MADE to destroy hecklers. I feel sorry for anyone trying to heckle him.
I love the whole y jello thing. This Puerto Rican girl I dated was trying to describe something to me I forget was it was but she said it was jello. I was like huhhh?? Then I realized ohhhh she means yellow lol
