Thank you so much. I'm going to get right on it. When I was 18 I made my way to Florida back around 1975. I was down and out homeless. Some Mexicans took me in, and we all worked together picking oranges, and doing what we could to survive. I remember that the mother would make these every day for us to take to work, and we survived on these with pinto beans. God bless her heart. They didn't have to take me in. God bless these Mexicans!!!

I am so happy to see a homesteading male making food and sharing recipes and a Christian man to boot! My husband and I just came inside from planting artichokes and mulching the blueberries. We homestead just waiting and praying our way through for the animals. They won't let us have them here because of zoning restriction but we're beloved God for changes because this is our dream house which God saved for us..... I could go on and on but I'll leave at: GOD IS GOOD!

Hello ! If possible can you or Sarah make a video on how to cook with cast iron. What differences to non stick . Utensils to use, plastic or metal. How to care for pans I am wanting to make the switch to cast iron but would love some tips

Kevin, you and Sarah have such outstanding content on your channel! This video is a perfect example. You go down in the weeds with Detail that can help the most rank novice feel confident, without coming across as condescending or being boring for folks who have already experienced what you’re teaching. It’s a real gift from the Lord, born of humility, and I pray God will continue to bless your Homestead family. ❤️🪴✝️

Hi! It's me again. The content of your show seems to center around no waste. I love your pigs. My Grandparents had 480 acres in Ithaca New York and grew or raised everything. They also had a vineyard which they made wine and vinegar and jams. But, getting back to the pigs, my whole family ate pickled pigs feet, soup with the tail, and hedge cheese with the nose and head. They loved fried cows brains and tongue. I passed on most of that, mostly because I've always had issues with eating something that I named and played with. As always, Chris

Hi guys 1st of all on your deer steak dinner video when u flour and fry, add like a tsp of cinnamon. I would not eat deer till my husband did this, you will love it. Second love love love Sarah's wierdnesses, like when she looks for something in the kitchen and completes a circle walking around her kitchen lol, man I do that all the time, it makes things feel real and that's nice. 3rd thankyou for doing this! I'm beginning a homestead in Helena,MT , we have a little harsher weather but no rain hardly except in June. We have an sunkin garden 6ft down, with a green house top. It's really windy here. and this is my first year planting a garden. I'm learning so much! Again, thank you for sharing. Let me know how u like the cinnamon in the flour on the deer steak! Makes winter even better cozy with that warm spice! God bless!

I grew up making tortillas. My grandma, aunties, and momma all still make tortillas. I am glad I was able to pass down this tradition to my children. We make them every week now since its just my daughter and I. Its basically a staple in our home. My boys are all military and when I have boots in the house I always make sure they get fresh tortillas, a pot of beans, and red chile!! I use Manteca.....animal lard. I am curious to see the taste difference with butter. I love butter pretty much on everything! Try it on your beans when you serve them!

I absolutely 💚💚 these kitchen videos, making great food from scratch! Would love to see you and Sarah include recipes or tips on how to make some of these from alternative ingredients from the wild.....like if flour wasn't available. In other words, could we ground up a kudzu root or other roots to make a flour of sorts? Lol. We can make our own yeast, but how much do you use for various recipes? You could can butter (ghee) in jars. How can we make oil the easiest most healthy way? I ❤ Sarah's foraging videos!!! Definitely 2 of my favs!! You guys are great and I'm so happy to be learning & inspired by you both!! 😃

Just need to tell newbies that you need to stack the tortillas in a dish or foil and wrap up so they stay moist, otherwise they get dry and brittle. I usually stack on foil, wrap until cool and then put any leftover into a zip bag to use later or freeze. To use later just slap onto a griddle both sides until hot wrap as you go to soften, either in a tortilla dish or foil and they are great. Even after freezing better than store bought.

These came out so good ! Thank you so much for sharing this. I found a trick to the butter I thought I'd share. When I put the warm water in the measuring cup while I mix up the dry goods, I also put the butter in a paper bowl and it fits right on top of the measuring cup with warm water in it.. so by the time Im ready for the butter it soft with out separating. We might switch over to making our own all the time now, it saves a few bucks and is a nice way to spend a afternoon, baking. Look forward to more videos !

Wanted to add, I cook my tortillas right on the burner. You only leave it on the burner a short time and I flip it over and over till they are as brown as I want them. They will only have a few scattered brown marks. I learned this method from some Mexican friends that I met in California.
