Witnesses testify to facts not the law. A witness says this, this and this happened. A witness does not say "Here's my interpretation of how the law works." If you want to argue the law you argue it with the judge or appellate judges. The jury is meant to interpret the law the way the judge tells them, not the way a witness tells them. If the judge is wrong on the law, that's what appeals are for.
