You do not need a grand jury to go to trial. You go to a grand jury when you’re just not sure what the evidence of saying. So if the prosecutor feels he doesn’t have enough evidence, but the grand jury says yes, indict, then he can go ahead and indict them, but he doesn’t have to.

Not exactly. New York law allows the statute clock to pause when a defendant is living out of state as trump was since 2017. And also if the defendant changes residency as trump did in 2019 when he became a Florida resident.
