@@Irenevanegas82 No, that's what they're talking about for most people at this point I imagine. As long as you have the necessary equipment to do a zoom call, for example, that should be fine.

I would definitely recommend taking the GED test online at home because I have anxiety and I really didn’t want to go to a testing center. So I was very grateful for the opportunity to test at home. It felt comfortable and safe which is why I didn’t mind the rules. There were a couple internet problems but I’m pretty sure it was on the proctors end, not mine though

@@keisy222 I used my 2015 Mac book Air laptop. You just need to make sure your software is up to date and they’ll let you take it online
Was the math portion hard? I believe you can't have paper while taking the Math online so I'm curious if I should do it from home or not
I'm definitely planning to take the test online at home. After 4 years of procrastination after high school and doing nothing with my life, just staying home, it's time. I also have anxiety, especially if I do go to the nearest testing site, I will be hoping that there's no traffic on the way and I will have to reschedule. I just need to delete some stuff as my laptop is a bit slow and buy a webcam
Pros for online: You don't have to travel anywhere (no need to drive to a testing center, especially with high gas prices), extremely flexible scheduling, you can take the exam within familier surroundings (your home).
Cons for online: No tangible calculator you can hold onto, no scratch paper, some feel uncomfotable being watched through their computer's camera.
Pros for testing center: You can use a calculator rather than a scoll down option, there is a level of 'seriousness' when in the exam room surrounded by others also taking an exam, you can use scratch paper to work out the answers and take notes.
Cons for testing center: Limited scheduling options, some can feel intimidated in the testing envorinment, traveling to the testing center means you must block off adequate time out of your day, if you forget your ID you may not have time to retrieve it.
What if your computer doesn't have a Webcam if it's a custom built pc do they still monitor you
I live in California, no one is actually watching through the camera , my cousins scheduled their test for 11pm at night , nobody is working at that time

I quit my public school even though I had a 3.8 GPA, and several high AP scores as a sophomore. I tried using an online program, because my mental health took a massive hit and I had a breakdown after going back from spring break. My online program is awful and I’m not able to get through the program, even though I know all the content and have for years.

You just got to pass the pre test to see what you need to work on . They with give you a certain amount of time to study before taking the real test . Which you will npt be allowed to take all In one day one or to test per day to avoid fatigue

If you’re referring to the math exam, then yes. You can retake individual subject exams.

If you have a diagnosis you may be able to request a reasonable accommodation. There is information about how to do that at GED.com.
I have two laptops and neither one works can anyone please recommend what kind of computer should I use ?

I have a HP windows 10,at first everything ran smoothly for the system test so I scheduled my test. On test day everything was moving accordingly with check in. Then it was time to test for windows open, at that point it said Microsoft teams was open and I didn’t know how to close it. My testing window closed and I was unable to complete check in .

Unfortunately yes, acorrding to the research I've been doing you cannot mouth the words you are reading either. You have to be absolutely quiet
It seems as if they are behind the times in Regards to the Americans with Disabilities Act, probably best to take the test in person and kindly ask for assistance.

Check the list on GED.com for information about specific locations. Online testing is not yet available everywhere but may expand in the future.

You have to take it with TVO for online in Ontario. I guess TVO is the only org allowed to deliver GED in Ontario.

@@chunkyfucker Yes, it’s absolutely within your reach! It truly depends on how many hours a week you can study. If you’re able to dedicate 12+ hours a week I would say around 4 months is realistic, but can be shorter depending on if you can contribute additional time.
@@chunkyfucker social studies and science will be your easiest subjects to tackle, math will be the most difficult with RLA being a close second.

Typically you will get them right away. The only test that may have some wait time is the RLA exam with the constructed response, but my students always knew their scores very soon after finishing each test. Scores for each exam you have taken are posted in your account at ged.com.
Regarding the identification do they require you scan your drivers license and upload or how does that work?
My understanding is that they will ask you to show it to the camera when you login to take the test. Maybe someone who has taken the test online can confirm!
It is illegal for anyone to ask you to Scan and Upload your ID.. it’s a Federal Law and in some States like NC it is backed up by the Driver’s Privacy Act

Have no idea.. after being a UA-camr over the last few years, its taught me valuable lessons.. most importantly, one’s privacy is compromised, lots of creepy people out there..

Do i need to take ,one subject at the time,or all at once?
You can decide! I recommend to take one subject at a time - they are each about an hour long, so sitting to test for 4+ hours can be very strenuous. Sometimes my students chose to take two at a time. It's up to you.

No, there is an onscreen calculator to use as part of the test, but you cannot have a separate calculator with you.

You can use the virtual whiteboard on the computer, but I agree that I wouldn’t really enjoy that experience. It might be okay if your laptop has a touchscreen.

That’s garbage. I hate the idea of being watched. I don’t care call me A rebel but the thought that I need to be watched would make me so uncomfortable that I would probably fail because I am a very private person. I don’t care if its to make sure you’re not doing anything suspicious or not. That genuinely pisses me off.

You are not even allowed to mouth the words you are reading, or bend down to plug in your computer. You must have absolute silence; you can't look to the left or right--face forward at all times. How many students can write with a mouse? No Chromebooks--Mac and PCs only. If you get an inexperienced proctor, you're done! It is more expensive. No discounted retakes. I tell my students to avoid it.
