Hello guys, I just took my GED test (Math and Social Studies) today.
In Math, you only need to review the basic math (PEMDAS, decimals, percentage, conversion, ratio), algebra (equations, types of function, graphs), and a little bit of geometry.
In Social Sience (since I wasn't born and raised in USA- I thought studying its history will help me to get through it but NOPE.), the test would be difficult if you're lacking with english vocabulary and having a hard time on comprehending (that was a challenge for me). The test would take all your time reading. Nonetheless, pie and bar graphs are easy.
    Hope this helps. :)

You need to buy the GED study book off of Amazon or at Chapters/Indigo book store. Study hard. Test yourself. Test yourself daily for two weeks. Write the GED test. If you pass, great, if you fail a subject, rewrite after you study that subject vigorously.

Thank you for making this video,it is so helpful. I’ve been procrastinating about getting my GED for years out of fear and also I went to classes for it that were in the evening and the teachers were awful. So I lost hope at that point about getting it and then over the years constantly thought about the GED but lack of self confidence really held me back. This year has been a real eye opener for me on many things in my life and it’s taught me that I am smart enough to get this done for myself. We are all smart enough for anything and when we set our minds and determination to what we want to accomplish,we will succeed. I need my GED to further my education because where I’m at right now in my life,it’s not my true path.
My soul knows that and it’s pushing me more than ever now to get this challenge done and over with.

Taking ged classes now. Been in these classes for months. My teacher is terrible at math and most of the time all she ever talks about is her cats and dolls.
I finally got her to schedule me for my social studies test. She didn't want to, because she doesn't want me to leave her class. Long story short, I passed my social studies test.

I guess practice is the key, and if you dont understand something dont feel discouraged, with technology right now you can look for answers, and again practice. if you feel tired and frustrated, keep working on it, the best part is knowing that you can do it, no matter what, even if you are 18 or 40 years old, everyone here has a different motivation but at the end is the same goal, knowing that you can get your GED and that satisfaction nobody can take away from you, keep the good work.🙂🙂

Pasted my GED within 2 month and is absolutely true about what he is saying.... To be honest the only part that you need to study is math because either you know or you don't simple as that.... The other 3 parts are more like understanding the paragraphs and you get the answers for the same paragraphs time is kind of short for all the reading that you have to do. But isn't scary as is sounds. Just try you will see

Well, I have been going to GED classes for 4 months and began feeling the exact same way as you, especially about the lack of help from teachers. John Moose Good luck! That is exactly the way to do it, if you want to have your GED fast then bypass the entire school system. It isn't even them giving you the GED. It's a private corporation that will administer the test and tell you if you passed. It's very sad how you and I both had to waste four months of our lives to do this.

This is great advice for someone who has the abilities that you clearly do. Please keep in mind, not everyone has had the training, experience or other background to allow them to simply schedule the GED tests and pass. Hopefully you are proud that you are in the minority, but at the same time recognize that there are many more folks who would Benefit Tremendously from spending those training hours. The result of following your advice and "skipping ahead" is that many people will fail at your strategy, become discouraged that they are stupid, and never try again. I'm not saying the system is perfect, but it would be better to encourage people to try taking some educational direction before jumping directly to the tests. Mentors are helpful in all walks of life!

Sasuke Uchiha I wouldn't leave a job to get a GED, it doesn't require that much commitment in my opinion. Just use the websites I provide in the description and if you need the help, get a tutor in some subject. Don't worry, you're smart enough to get a GED because the people who give out the GEDs are also the people trying to lower the unemployment rate, and giving out GEDs has a lot to do with that. So it's kind of easy. I would recommend being good in math the most. The other subjects are easy, in my opinion.

Keep your job for the time being and get your GED done up. I have learned over the years that the only jobs I get without furthering my education are the ones that have you working for a company that is mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting and with low pay. It’s not worth the stress. That’s why I’m going to get my GED to get out of this rut because I just can’t take much more of working in a job I have no interest in and that barely gets me by because the owner of the company is greedy as hell.

I really needed to hear this, its been a year now since i was going to those classes and it felt like a big waste of time since i was there for 4 months or so, i was getting confused on what i needed to do next and i kept redoing every subject and failing tests and it got so tiring since i had to get up at 6am everyday and do the same things over and over again and not get anywhere. My teacher kept getting personal with me too and saying i should stop looking so sad or nobody will be friends with me and i wasn't even there to make friends.. But yeaa, I'm crossing my fingers that i can do well and get to my dreams and inspire people that anything IS possible.

Damn I wish i saw this before my dad enrolled my into the GED program with one of the nearby schools. And I totally forgot about kahn academy. I'm definitely going to try and not go in person to the classes as much as possible since I am not a minor. They said 2 days is the minimum probably so they can get my signature. I'm so glad I came across this video as it will help me do the best thing for myself!!! Thanks Daniel.

This is REALLY good advise. I have a long story and I won't bore you with the details. But back in the day, in Ontario, they had what they called a "Mature Student". At the age of 21 you could take an aptitude test, and if you passed you could get into college. I guess it was similar to a GED. I did that. But there is NO record of that test. There is a college record. And that did me well for many years.
I did not actually finish my program. So this new job I went for at a BIG 100 year old 50 Billion dollar company, wanted proof of my last completed education. I was lead astray by some internet searches, and said to the recruiter I had all of the requirements for an OSSC. Which I do. Back and forth with the Ontario something something. Got my student record. (in micro fishe) and it did not designate I had achieved my OSSC. Come to find out that is for the special ed kids.
Anyway, I have already started the job. I have to prove my cred within 60 days.
Well once upon a time, I was a substitute teacher. I KNOW. my two years of college superseded my lack of a diploma. Anyway, a student teacher said that "Getting a GED is a LOT harder then getting then graduating" He was tutoring/teaching GED classes at the time so I believed him. I was a fool.
I found MY GED. did a math test. I was borderline pass at about 144. I studied and refreshed for two weeks, and go a 160. Likely to pass.
I have the four tests schedule this weekend. I just did a practice test in Social Studies. I scored a 173/200 without studying. Tomorrow I will take a practice test for science. I don't want to be TOO cocky and think I know it all.
So, the message I want to send is, go to MY GED. Pay the 6 bucks to take the practice test, to know where you stand. Then go from there.
Truth be told, that student teachers' one liner, stopped me for years. Go to class for months? Ain't nobody got time for that!

I will say lied to. I feel lied to, strung along, used as a number to get funding for a crap program that has not taught me what I needed to know to pass the math test. I feel set up for failure by the college I enrolled in here in my state. I was told that if I did the work, put in the hours, I would pass the actual GED test. It was strongly insinuated that once I passed the TABE test, that I was more than ready to pass the GED test. I did what I was told to. I followed all they outlined for me. I scored a 12.0 on the TABE test last week. Took the Math GED test today and failed it. When I went to the program director about the fact that what I was taught was not even on the test except maybe 2 fraction problems and a percentage problem, she all but told me I was correct and that the TABE simply tells them you get general math.AND to add insult to injury, she said that it was my own fault for not making sure I had more math knowledge. I am very angry.

Don't throw stones. Adult Education is for students who need it, not for students who can do it on their own. When we are no longer here because funding is cut, and that is coming, who will help those who cannot do this alone? We subsidize the cost of the tests, we encourage students who need confidence, and we actually teach students who are reading at a 3rd grade level to read at a 12th grade level. We arrange babysitters, we help with job searches and we fill out college & FAFSA applications. We buy bus passes and throw parties and graduations...at no cost to students but their time. We give them a second chance. So, the government requires that we show that students actually have been in our classes. Is that a crime?
