I literally cried. 😢 update: I passed my Science test today scored 151. 🙏🏾 probably would’ve scored more if my eyes wasn’t burning from looking at the screen for so long and time was running out but I’m grateful that I passed. Next n final test is maths.
Well basically you need a desktop or laptop with a webcam. Do a test run to make sure the camera, internet and speakers are working fine. On the day of you test launch the test about half hour before the test because you would need to follow some instructions which includes taking a photo of yourself and snapping the front and back of your ID. Also you need to be in a room by yourself because some of the steps also include taking photos of the room. If the person monitoring you have any questions they will ask you on the computer before launching the test. It’s pretty simple and self explanatory.
Sweepy57 I failed 3 times too I cried so hard (because I’m sensitive af) cause I really wanted to pass and get my ged so I can get a better job. And it’s awful that you have to wait so long to retake the test.

There's no options for Dislexy people like me. I have to read a question about 7 times before I get it. We don't have extra time. I have 2 GED books which I thought read, I did the practice test 2 times! I felt badly!

if they are forcing you to take a practice test they SHOULD NOT be charging you to take the practice test... people like me aside (people with brain trauma) it doesn't cost them at all... it costs them no money for you to practice why are they punishing you and charging you money for trying to complete your education? this is ultimately damaging in my opinion
Hi ben! You can call A GED center nearby and talk to someone about your condition and they may be able to give you either 1. A voucher or 2. Extra time. You have to mention to them your condition and if they are in understanding they will get you in touch with someone who handles that all. Hey! I am planning on taking the test next week and I’m so frustrated because I’ve been out of school for 2 years now and I am scared it would be too hard. Any advice?
I've been out of school for 5 years or so, and about a year ago someone finally explained to me that it is possible to get my ged, i still haven't gotten it for personal reasons. But by research, the testing isn't too complex if you actually try and study, you don't need to stress yourself and think you have to take all of the tests at once. Taking one at a time and focusing one at a time is a better option. I'm thinking about doing math first to get it out of the way.. nothing is ever easy in life, this is our path to achieving something great. So i wish you good luck once you start studying and testing!
from my experience the ged exams are not that hard, just study and study until you find each topic easy to solve, language arts and science were pretty easy to me, i passed both on the first try, with language arts and science you just need your thinking skills in order to know what you are reading and trying to solve, for math and social studies it's a bit of a challenge, however if you ever find math or social challenging then keep studying for math and social until you find it easy. the ged is all about knowledge, all you need is the skill and ability to solve passages and equations. it's goanna be worth it at the end! an advice on what i used to study for the ged, you can purchase the ged prep book from amazon, you can watch many ged practice videos on UA-cam, purchase the GED live classes through the GED website, they help a lot, they also have video library of the videos for each subject, it's very handy for all GED subjects, Also highly recommend using khan academy for subjects like math and science, Cause if you struggle with math for example, Khan Academy will help you practice until you find it easy.
So my state allows us pto take any of the tests at home as long as you purchase and pass a practice test. They also had a promo code to take them all for free. But I have to say the check in process, the rules they have are pretty intense and if you don’t live alone, or if you have kids be sure to find a sitter the day of if you can. If any one enters your room, if you talk, if you cover your mouth, if anyone else talks, if you look away from the screen, you will be disqualified. They require a 360 view of the room you’re in, facial id, the computer systems have to meet very specific requirements. While I’m grateful they’ve made this accessible (I’ve done and passed two of my tests this way!) the average person who’s presumably had hardships and limited resources along the way is likely to run into issues doing the testing this way. But good luck everyone, if I can do it, you can too!
From what I hear online at home, you can only use the calculator provided on computer and board they provide on computer for sheet paper. Everything on comp (unfortunately) that's what I'm scared about taking math at home for. Did you take yours at home afterall? How'd you do?

Hi you guys i passed the language arts here in tx with a 167 thanks so much!!! i was going to take it online but having 6 kids 2 dogs and my noisy husband i was like nope i am better off in a testing facility in Austin which is the only o taking it online was to much if someone yelled it would have been automatically a big fail and i had to retake...... also one of my my computers was not compatible i believe your computer must run on windows pc and not on chrome os
i think if you pay for the practice test and you pass you should go in the real test with a percentage of the grade because you pay for a practice test they want you to take
You're welcome! You can do them in whichever order you want. It can help to start with your easiest subject to get the momentum going, but there's no right or wrong way. One way to do it is to start with social studies and mix in.a little bit of math. Then once you pass social studies, focus on science and keep doing a little bit of math on the side. Then once you pass science, move onto RLA and keep mixing in a little math. Then by the time you pass RLA and are ready to focus just on math, you'll already have a good base built with the math and it hopefully won't take much longer. But again, there's no right or wrong way to do it--the important thing is to just work hard and it'll all pay off eventually!

I just logged on and it appears i can take the online test again. This will be my second time. I got a 142 on math 2-3 months ago so possibly, they making this a permanent option but we'll see. As im on the site it gives me the option to sign up for online testing. To me, i get its a pilot program but the education system losing money so having it as a permanent option or for when we are in pandemics or for students who cant take it in their states etc it should be an option for those people and or during difficult circumstances such as this pandemic. Moreover, it helps the educational system at least get some money and it gives students options. I myself, need 1 more test to pass and once i do i'll be able to go into corrections, or parole, or in risk management or other fields im interested in. Either way i will get my GED soon im not worried i just have to actionize putting in the work and believe in myself.
I second this. You can start by practicing on UA-cam or with the free practice questions the GED Testing Service has available. But eventually you'll want to do the GED Ready practice tests. i know that they were running a discount where tests were only $3 each. Not sure if they're still offering this though...
I just scheduled my test for tomorrow I should've tested to see if it was gonna work for the online test first big mistake 😑 but I don't get why it doesn't support my laptop if it has Webcam I don't get it say it only supports windows 10 64bit, windows 8.1. MacOS 10.13

I think having a newborn is not allowed during the exam, Because it will cause further distractions and the time on your exam will keep running, Also the person monitoring you wouldn't accept it either, Since they can't be the one's to keep pausing the exam every time your baby needs assistance, I'm sorry, But this is the GED rules from what I've experienced.

@@hou1381 I think you have to have a high score on practice in order for you to take real test. If you fail the real test two times a row, you have wait 60 days to take it again.
yes, someone will be monitoring you, from my experience with the ged online test, someone watched every movement i took, and if there is any suspicious movements they immediately contact you on the live chat bar that is on the online test, and if you are caught breaking the rules then your exam will be revoked and you'll be banned from taking any further ged tests in the future. it feels like you are held against investigation where any movement or anything said is against the law lol
I had to rescedual my test as i was following the instructions. When asked to click begin test that link never appeared. Did i do something wrong? I waited for 30 minutes with no results. Nope they monitor you through the camera of the computer in also Math,science,social studies,and of course English is used everyday when something breaks say a curtain rod you need proper measures,there are certain washing detergents that can not be missed or it will ruin clothes science comes into play,social studies you gotta know your history everyday its made and as I said English is used everyday so technically the stuff you learn in school prepares you for life's problems

To me, i get its a pilot program but the education system losing money so having it as a permanent option or for when we are in pandemics or for students who cant take it in their states etc it should be an option for those people and or during difficult circumstances such as this pandemic. Moreover, it helps the educational system at least get some money and it gives students options. I myself, need 1 more test to pass and once i do i'll be able to go into corrections, or parole, or in risk management or other fields im interested in. Either way i will get my GED soon im not worried i just have to actionize putting in the work and believe in myself.

I would also suggest going to Ged.com, and purchasing the prep test to see if you will pass. 6$ each, or 20$ all four subjects.
I second this. You can start by practicing on UA-cam or with the free practice questions the GED Testing Service has available. But eventually you'll want to do the GED Ready practice tests. i know that they were running a discount where tests were only $3 each. Not sure if they're still offering this though...

Yes pass , the prequalify test and you’ll be eligible for the math test from home. That’s my only pending test as well.

I think having a newborn is not allowed during the exam, Because it will cause further distractions and the time on your exam will keep running, Also the person monitoring you wouldn't accept it either, Since they can't be the one's to keep pausing the exam every time your baby needs assistance, I'm sorry, But this is the GED rules from what I've experienced.

Thank you! If you're taking the tests in person, then you should be able to take 2 tests in the same day. If you're doing it online, I don't think you can do more than one right now. Please check with the GED Testing Service though, as I don't know for sure. Sorry.

@@hou1381 I think you have to have a high score on practice in order for you to take real test. If you fail the real test two times a row, you have wait 60 days to take it again.
Taking the online ged test does that mean somebody is going to be watching you take the test or just monitoring the screen your on?
yes, someone will be monitoring you, from my experience with the ged online test, someone watched every movement i took, and if there is any suspicious movements they immediately contact you on the live chat bar that is on the online test, and if you are caught breaking the rules then your exam will be revoked and you'll be banned from taking any further ged tests in the future. it feels like you are held against investigation where any movement or anything said is against the law lol

Nope they monitor you through the camera of the computer in also Math,science,social studies,and of course English is used everyday when something breaks say a curtain rod you need proper measures,there are certain washing detergents that can not be missed or it will ruin clothes science comes into play,social studies you gotta know your history everyday its made and as I said English is used everyday so technically the stuff you learn in school prepares you for life's problems
