Good video! I always try to switch my old board to a new identical one. It keeps the demons in my head calmer! 😁

Yeah most times I will stick to the same brands for my set ups but now and then I like to just try something different.

The perfect setup is the forever skate quest! For me the shape of the tail is very important. I prefer it mellow to pop a bit earlier... it also feels more comfortable on the landings compare to steep ones.

I agree with the mellow tail, thats why I like the almost decks. The shape of the almost deck seems perfect for me.

Loving see this process mate. The lighter Indys are slightly shorter than the standards which may be playing into your overall feeling. I wouldn’t have thought it makes too much of a difference but you never know. Might also be worth checking the wheelbases on the board too see if they’re different.

Agree, wheelbase is important and forged and cast baseplates have a difference in height of about two mm. Seems nothing but...

I'm not fully sure but I do feel that it is just down to the bushings, but if I just change them out now without testing the trucks first it would be a little boring lol.
In the lighter trucks I have the cone shaped ones and it is the first time I have used this shape bushing. It was all the shop had in stock while I was in Perth. At the time I though surely it can't make that much difference but maybe it does.

I have gone down the mad science experiment of trucks boards wheels. Bottom line fore me is there is too light of a board. I like Flight Decks but not with tensor mags, that's to light. I like tensor mags on regular wood boards.
To figure out the trucks you have to try the same tricks on different boards.

Yes I think that is what I am seeing. I think maybe the lighter trucks will work better not on the almost deck. Only time will tell though.

Wheelbase. Let's say the bushings don't change the geometry and both indys affect in the same way the wheelbase. I would measure the wheelbase and the fingers of flat between the bolts and the beginning of the tail/nose in both decks. Shorter wheelbase means less stability but it's easier to flick and turn. Fingers of flat affect the pop using the same trucks. If both boards are exactly the same, even the steepnes of nose and tail... must be the weight😂

I know the decks are different, at least the tail. The almost tail is mellow and every other deck I have used that is not Almost has a steeper tail. As for the Wheelbase I'm not sure. Its not anything that I have every looked at when buying a deck.
