The fact that this is given for free is insane. 80% of creators would be charging us $30 for a walk essentially would be a rubber band and a tutorial. Amazing
I've said this on quite a few of your videos now but it always needds to be said imo. I admire your creative mind so much. Your ability to create organic clean magic is incredible and I'm really enjoying catching up with all of your videos!
This just took Jay Sankey’s Paperclipped to a whole other level. Beautiful and Totally organic like you said The spectator’s will never expect it.❤️ it.
Paperclipped seems like a much better thing than this. its basically gimmickless, the switch does not require any props that make the spectator think why are they there. Like the card is folded and paperclipped. The paperclip as a prop serves because it is holding the card closed. Also with paperclipped the card is in view the whole time. And you just very cleanly take the clip away and thats it. There is no need to go into the pockets and take out credit cards and all of that.
@@teemumantynen1038 true but who really walks around with paper clips on them? A drivers license and a credit care is more believable because they are the two things people have with them the most on a daily basis.
@@allthatsmagic06 I think the props need to be understood in the context of a trick. Who walks around with a deck of cards, for instance? The magician does that because the deck is needed for the tricks he wants to show, so the item is justified even though most people dont walk around with a deck. Similarly the paper clip makes sense in the context of the trick that uses it, it has a purpose of keeping the folded card folded up and "secured", so its no more strange than the deck of cards. It makes perfect sense to have a paperclip in this context.
Dude.....this is diabolical!!! I've been mercury folding all my old and beat up decks. This is a very cool switch. Might actually be my favorite folded card switching device. Bravo!!!!!
@@LloydB thing is i LOVE card to wallet but my second favorite plot is card to impossible locations. And my mercury fold has gotten soooo clean lately and this switch will be perfect for me. Fits my style 100000000% I'll tag you when I perform it haha
This is amazing ! Very subtle!! I’m happy to see magic tricks that are grounded in practicality and organic feel, that is my kind of magic ! Awesome !! 👏👏👏
Loved it Lloyd! Simple, easy to make, and super-visual and practical. I was thinking to make this and replace the rubberband with fabric elastic, it would cut the sound a bit and last a little longer plus you can still adjust the tension. Seriously thank you for sharing this!
This is pretty neat, and I totally agree with you about bringing a wallet when you go out, personally the only cards I bring are a red Bicycle deck. Love the gimmick idea and I believe (because I haven't actually tried it yet but I will) that you can actually use a normal playing card instead of a bank card, just gotta smack some card board or maybe even a popsicle stick to the back. Great tutorial.
Me encanta sus Tutoriales, el,mecanismo de cada efecto de magia, el gimmick y cada ángulo bien estudiado para brindar un efecto muy limpio, me encanta la Magia!
I think this is brilliant, just came across your channel by accident and as soon as you said your channel is about magic that is e.d.c situated I was hooked and you had a new sub, I absolutely love when everything looks as natural as possible I think that's where you get the best performance and the best reactions... soooo now ima binge watch all your vids lol much love and respect all the way from Coventry lol
Hoping you can do more tutorial for switching device.Almost people perform with wallet or props...but they look just so "magic",so really love this idea. Thanks for sharing to us
This was awesome stuff. As someone who doesn't use cards, I'd love to see some more applications for your EDC switching devices, maybe for a bill or a folded mentalism prediction, etc. I just want an excuse to build one of these and try it out!
Wow this is so cool!! I'm horrible at DIY stuff but even I can do this!! I have a couple Kennedy Mystery Boxes and Daniel Garcia Mint Boxes-- but for EDC this looks like it will work fantastic --- Thanks!!!!
Damn Lloyd. I'm following your work for years now. I'm obsessed with switches and the mystery card plot and my go-to-method was my "squeezy" kind of wallet who takes advantage of the same kind of principle. Till today. For me and my style of performing magic this is a game changer. So much more organic and casual. It makes my wallet obsolete. Thanks a ton for sharing! Rock on! Btw: Nice finger-tatts
Very cool. The gimmick is so simple and it looks great! You bring up an excellent point, that many people don't carry a wallet. I wonder if anyone looked at card to back-of-cellphone credit card holder...
pretty sweet. i dont like how loud it is though, have you experimented with taping pieces of felt to the contact points or using a less tensioned band? Im sure its not a problem cause i didnt even notice it when you were demoing it in the intro, but in the pursuit of refinement maybe that could help?
I really like this. Side note, I think it's odd not to carry a wallet. I always carry a minimalist wallet in my front pocket, I need to keep my stuff organized. lol.
It’s a strange one for me. My town is entirely contactless. So I pay for everything with Apple Pay. I really would be carrying a wallet just for the sake of it. But I now that other places around the world aren’t contactless yet, so totally get it.
@@LloydB Contactless has gotten more prominent here in the states. I use Google Pay pretty much everywhere I can. Some stores like Walmart though wont accept contactless because they are trying to push their own form of mobile pay which is a hassle. I think another issue we have here is just crappy mobile coverage, and if your phone battery is dead. I will probably always carry some kind of wallet though. I don't load all of my cards into my mobile wallet, just my primary and one "Fun" card. Most the time I forget to switch too when I need to use it. Plus I carry my health insurance cards because most places wont accept a digital copy of those around here.
Try scoring the back of the card with a knife and forcing that card. It makes doing the mercury fold so much easier and the card folds perfectly every time 👍
Just a tip, it's really simple to get 'reward cards' etc from local supermarkets or coffee shops. If you really want to add a genuine card with your name properly printed on the card, just report a credit/debit card (ideally one you can go a few days without) as lost and then you can use it. To be honest though, the main cover card would be the most convincing one and as you don't need to make any changes to it, it can actually be your normal card... Which is a legit EDC. To be honest though, you can easily make the 2 slits into a card you are using and not affect the usage 👌🏼
@@marcusjay8103 You're completely correct. A used up gift card would also work. I know I have old cafe/coffee shop bonus cards and even my electronic train ticket from the last city I lived in. But no need to cancel credit cards just for this trick. 😅
@@DJLFB 😂 I did point out only 'if you REALLY want it'... Should have probably put 'If you really NEED to'. Thinking about it, you can go into most supermarkets etc and get the free gift cards you are meant to take to the counter and put money on. There are literally 90-100+ different company cards, Amazon, iTunes, Starbucks etc etc... That would also be a good choice if you didn't want to use a personal card for privacy. Personally I think a personal card would work so much better as the cover card to add some legitimacy but I get everyone is different when it comes to privacy etc. Have a good night/day buddy 👌🏼
@@marcusjay8103 There are also pre-paid credit cards that you can just use up the balance on. They look pretty much just like the real thing. The cover is definitely the most important here. But maybe it would behoove one to have a sort of duplicate, where it's just the cards, without the cuts. People seem always want to see what you used... I know someone will ask if they can see it, and I'd then be able to go back into my pocket and pull out the authentic cards without cuts. Just a thought...
this is a great idea and thanks for the tutorial! I will say, it feels like the tutorial could have been streamlined a lot. but good for a like and comment!
