This is one of the best magic videos I've seen on UA-cam in a minute. Awesome stuff. Would love more EDC content, that's essentially my magic focus right now
Dude. I admire your mind so much and you exude the love of the craft in everything you do. Thank so much for sharing here. I have learned so much already!
You are the greatest magician ,🎉🎉🎉🎉thanks for all you do for beginners like me I am 62 years old when I was young all the secrets were hidden for the Mexican magicians that I met nobody teaches as well as you do,,,,,,,once more thanks for all you know and share us ,,,,,,best regards my friend from the best tequilas land “Mexico”
What a nice little idea. This can absolutely be incorporated with a button down shirt. Roll your sleeves up to just under you elbows, then physically pull them up over you elbow. I’m not sure if rubber cement can be used for something a little longer lasting (hours) or not, but I’m gonna play around with this. With the rolled sleeves, you have natural cover for your vanishes, complete vanishes, or even a holdout. I have so much going through my mind right now. Excellent thinking!
Great presentation . I love the natural flow of this, turning a common game into a trick plays really well on expectation and conditioning. Your videos are really inspiring .
Thank you for all that you do for the magic community. You are a humble, intelligent, well spoken, extremely talented magician and teacher, whom selflessly gives of himself. I immediately subscribed to your channel and hit the like button. May God continue to bless you with all that is good.
You have some of the most AMAZING magic ever! I am a student of Jeff McBride and I am always completely floored by your magic. Thank you. I hope you get a million subscribers.
I did that years ago but I used the old rubber cement. A little dab and let it dry it becomes invisible. Forgot about it all these years. Thanks for reminding me. I'm 70 now and been doing local magic and street busking. Kinda retired now. Hard to remember every one of my routines through the past.
Great concept. Also instead of the double stick tape on the switched in object you could easily wrap it in your shirt collar or in a hoodie. Especially a dress shirt or some suit jackets. Leaves ya a bit cleaner. Wouldn’t work with all objects but definitely something small like a coin or die.
Absolutely! Good thinking. I also say that you can just finger palm it too, if you're not being burnt. That just makes sure it won't fall from position either too 🙂 Thanks for commenting Jason!
Great trick. I would suggest you put the double stick tape on your neck, or perhaps some rubber cement so that the dice can be handed out for examination. I think an even better trick would be to use the nested coin wallets (I forget who sells that) on the back of your neck and have an initialed coin vanish and appear in the nested wallet.
Lloyd, thanks for showing the tricks and the moves, very clever use of double stick tape. I just have one thing to point out, watch out for the mirror behind you if you don’t want the secrets accidentally exposed on some other tricks to other audiences.
Hi Lloyd this is Dennis Lucier all the way from Canada love your channel here is a thought for this effect use Octa palm on your elbow dries clear not sticky and works great on coins lasts for hours and adhere well this works for me maybe an idea to incorporate in to this effect.....what do you think..anyways keep up the great work
Ok this is pure GOLD!!!!!!!! So cool Lloyd and so generous of you to share this-- cannot wait to try this out on people. Fantastic stuff-- Thank you!!!!---and Cognito rocks!!!!!
Nice! It’s funny how we over think things at the start of the video I was trying to think how you hide the dice on your back I was thinking some special holder you made, to my surprise it was TAPE how great and simple!!!
Instead of double sided tape, is it possible to use a paste on the elbow then when you pass the coin for inspection there would be no tape, something like for better grip, pine pitch (pitch pine) or something like that??
You could also use this as a key or coin bend. The second time you "catch" the object, you realize that you might have put a little bit too much force into it, causing the bend.
Hey Lloyd, do you know that the link to the elastic thread that you share in the description is wrong? Can you share the correct link please? Btw, thx for the great content.
great video man. The possibilities! So much utility out of that move and double stick tape. Or maybe even rubber cement if you wanted something more invisible potentially?
Very nice- it would also be possible to hide the object that is going to appear inside the collar of a shirt, or, should you perform this a lot, make a little pocket that is either sewn or safety pinned under the T shirt collar.
How do you suggest sticking a fully nested triad coin? If you stick it on the large side, the inner coins fall out, & if you stick it on the inner nested side, the outer shell falls off🤷
Just found your channel. Not sure why you don't have a huge base of followers. Your handlings are so good, and your explanations and manner in teaching are so effective. Thank you for putting out your vids and I hope you find a huge audience! Liked and subscribed! As far as "nothing is new in magic". You may be interested ... ... that parts of this effect must have been really popular in India in the 1960s because I saw so many "uncles" perform variations there and in the USA when i was a kid in the '70s and '80s. The catch. Palming the coin in the right hand and tucking it into the collar while pretending to place it on elbow and screening with the left hand. Palming a second coin and then catching two coins where there was only one placed on elbow. And then vanishing the coins.
Truly excellent Lloyd. So well explained and innovative. I'm still working my way through your Cohort Gaff System, which has to be the best value set of tricks going considering how many tricks are on offer. A big thanks!
What would be fun is long sleeves. Magnet under the sleeve inside the arm and a magnetic coin. Just place it near the magnet when you want to catch. When your ready to vanish just place on unseen magnet. Best part is you can immediately roll up sleeves completely hiding the coin.
Yeah, the moment I saw this video that is the very first thing that came to mind. To tag onto this you could have a magnet in the shirt collar. Probably be able to rig it where you tape the magnet to a piece of playing card or something and safety pin it to the shirt so you can move it to a different shirt(s). Or even a hat. There is also a certain holdout out there you could combine with all the above.
The problem with rolling up the sleeve afterwards, is they are already suspicious of long sleeves. I learned the dice switch 4 yrs ago using a coin(great way to get free drinks BTW) I wear a collared shirt during my performance. I drilled a small hole in the snake eye and inserted a small round magnet, filled back with epoxy and repainted all the dots, as it gets handed out to be examined (great time killer). The other magnet is taped under my collar with black tape. I walk out with the dice in place. A Uday covert reel retractable with kevlar thread is pinned on the inside of my shirt under my armpit. The thread out my rolled up sleeve over my elbow over my index finger back to my arm at the elbow, with a piece of wax stuck there. Tension is held by keeping my upper arm tight at the armpit. Placing the coin the second time, I slide the string off my finger and picking up the wax and smashing it on the coin also taking up the extra slack. (Don't stick coin to skin) I know this is long winded but actually easy and simple. With coin in place and grabbing the dice. As you swing your arm down release the tension by relaxing armpit. Coin slide up sleeve and out of sight. It will take some practice.
@@wizardwillbonner Fairpoint. That said I find that it doesn’t matter if I have sleeves or don’t have sleeves they still think it’s sleeves lol. So I tend not to really worry about it because they’re gonna think that anyways
Already suscribed and shared ! awesome content BTW ! I have known you work for years and it is very nice to see this quality of magic been shared in these platforms!! the fact that you take the time to explain your ideas behind the effects and the magic concepts help to raise the standard in the quality of magic that people are expecting and magicians are performing.
I’m not sure if they include it in their edc but to just stick some on a coin (you could put a bit of wax paper on it to keep it covered) is so minimal that it’d be easy to carry everywhere.
Thank you for your video tutorials. I've been watching every chance I get, because I'm new to magic and planning on performing for hospitalized kids. May I make a constructive criticism, this is coming from advice that I received when I was a DJ for KGOL/KBRZ years ago. KISS! Keep It Simple Stupid, you have the same problem I did, with the tendency to over explain everything. "Say enough to get your point across, and then turn off the Mic"! (meaning shut up) "Just because you're on air to fill a 3hr time slot, you're not a talk show!" Believe me, it stung a little! But I didn't die from it! I say this not to be mean or nasty. You have very good content and subject matter, you just repeat the same information too many times.(There's a back button for that) Case in point. There's two or three others that I watch, that teach and never say a word. I don't care for their choice in background music, so I turn down the volume. I know this is unsolicited advice and I'll get slammed by desk jockeys for being a dick! Just wanted to pass on advice that helped improve my following. Keep up the good work.
The only part that makes me think something is different after the first normal skill catch was seeing you press hard when placing the coin on your elbow, other than that it’s great.
I don't think you need the double sided tape on the coin. If you show the coin is the only thing in your hand and do the real move where you remove your left hand at the last minute, then you can do it again and this time, clip the coin between your middle and ring finger and just take it away as you pretend to do the move with the dice in your hand. In addition, you don't need double stick tape on the dice either since you don't have to walk around with it on your neck. You can simply lodge it just under your shirt on your shoulder and it will stay there while you are simply standing.
I absolutely love this channel. Your tutorials are the best. I love your relationship with your wife. I hope this will be your full time job so I call everyone to join this community and SUBSCRIBE. Thank you everyone.

could you use rubber cement as well?
It doesn't stick, I find. It's got a grip to it but not strong enough to hold objects to it while you move around.

Tom Stone has an elbow catch with vanish or transformation in Maelstrom, page 41.
Harry Lorraine's Apocalypse has an article explaining this effect..but in the description, the person used rubber cement and used 3 coins ☺️

So, you could put bits of DS tape all over your body just in case? BUT very clever application Lloyd :)
I mean, who doesn’t coffee themselves in DS tape before they leave the house everyday?!
