  • It is an absolutely beautiful day! We are leaving Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina in Grand Rivers, KY and heading to Paris Landing State Park Marina in Buchanan, TN. We will leave Barkley Lake and cut through a narrow channel to Kentucky Lake for some of the most beautiful cruising yet! We are shocked at what we find at Paris Landing! What a day!

Thanks for the birthday candy! I was the sailboat docked across from you, I was riding around on that unicycle and had the two little dogs. You really made my birthday!

As a way back when (Gulf) coast coastal S/V cruiser I really do not understand inland sailboating. I guess to diehard sailboaters it's any patch of water will do. But it's darn hard to get the SaltLife outta my veins. What great harbor host greaters!! Harbor hosts seem to be the equivalent of trail angels for those of us who mix in some Colorado Trail backpacking with our distant, wistful boating life. Thanks for sharing some of the southeastern waterways I'll never have a chance to experience first person.

In my 60 years of sailing I would call that docking! Not mooring ! When I moored I was attached to a mooring ball! I have wanted to do this great loop! 😁🛫

Beautiful area, I Built my Houseboat in damumbers Bay right by the green turtle. Spent months in those bays. 👍 Take that advice, stay in one spot for a few months, then move on....

From the cut, going from Lake Barkley to the Kentucky Lake, south past Paris Landing State Park to New Johnsonville is my old stomping grounds. Grew up on the Kentucky Lake, fishing, skiing, and pleasure boating. Not a more beautiful place in the US!

I try to find all the loopers that come through my state just to see what their comments are about the area. I use to have a cabin south of Paris landing by river quite aways by land though. I especially like to see the comments when they stay on Tennessee instead of taking tom biggbee waterway south an take a few days to venture on over to Chattanooga its pretty up around Kentucky lake but it's breathtaking once you get into the Cumberland plateau in middle Tennessee an than just absolutely beautiful when you get into east Tennessee near Chattanooga.

Ditto what everyone else said - and with snow here in Northern Michigan today (finally!), it’s fun to fantasize about ‘boat life’. Whets my appetite for spring!! (But, ahem, where was Ollie?! You need to give that dog at least a minute or so of screen time each week!)

We are typically about to 4/6 weeks behind real time. But some of our travels and delays change that from time to time...but that is our goal. We also try to release a new episode weekly. Thank you for watching!

I’m from western Kentucky. The lake names are Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. It’s a common error to call the latter “Barkley Lake.” The lake is named for a U.S. Vice-President from the area.
Kentucky Lake is a beautiful cruising area with many wonderful bays and coves in which to anchor. The water of Lake Barkley is more shallow and has fewer accessible bays. I noted that you came through in November. For the viewers of your channel who may follow in your wake: Starting in late summer, both lakes are gradually drawn down to “winter pool” that is FIVE FEET lower than “summer pool.” The draw down is usually complete in mid-November. Caution must be exercised when boating in the bays, especially on Lake Barkley. In fact, at winter pool on Lake Barkley, one can run aground just by getting outside of the main channel. At the end of March, the lakes are brought up to summer pool which is reached at the beginning of May.

We did it! It was AWESOME. Near the end of S2E14 there is a clip of us sitting on the patio. They were kind enough to let us bring Ollie and Sulley but we had to sit outside. Which was actually great! The food was terrific and I think there is a shot of Scott's Mile High Meringue Pie! It was huge!

Hello Rob! We both met with our Primary Doctor before we left, and he was able to give us a script for an anti inflammatory, anti biotic and a script for a steroid before we left which we filled and have on the boat. (We did the same for our dog Ollie) We had full checkups, and we told him exactly what we were doing so he was able to talk us through what to bring. He also said to just call anytime we had questions. Great question! Thank you for watching! :)
