  • We are running on the outside to Carrabelle, FL. We are enjoying a pretty decent sea state in the Gulf today. Some tricky navigation around Cape St George and a little trouble at the dock. It turns out Carrabelle is a great little town!

    I've been watching a couple of sailing channels the last 3-4yrs, however I picked up on yours while you traveled thru Ky. The content is refreshing and interesting.....much less "child like" drama. I'm an electronics/mechanical gear head and love watching the problem solving experiences. I find the satisfaction of a well tuned rig, quite soothing to hear and watch.
    Thank you very much for the entertainment.

    PC to Carreabelle along that cost of Florida is where we love to take a day trip to. We're not but 2 hrs to Port St Joe. To me thats the best part of Florida. I see Tom from Dothan made a post, and I'm 29 miles from there and it looks like we're both glad yall are enjoying this part of our neighborhood. Thank you and be safe on the water.

    Glad you had a safe trip. It’s always something and you’re not alone with boat gremlins. Went out yesterday for a couple hour cruise half way started seeing steam engine temp normal 30 seconds later alarms going off and over heating. Gremlin shut my seacock off after an hour???
    Zip tied that bugger open. Headed home to replace impeller that I put in a month ago….. your not alone.

    • @cruisingandromeda
      @cruisingandromeda  3 місяці тому

      Ugh! It is crazy how these things happen on boats. I hope you were limited to just the impeller and caught it in time. Great idea on the zip tie. Thanks for the great comment Matt. We appreciate that and thank you for following along with us!

    Always was and still am a big fan of the 480 DB over the 50/52 DB. QSM11 motors was a deterrent however. You may want to check your fuel burn at 1900 rpms. According to Seaboard Marine. If you are too high at that rpm the exhaust manifolds will have issues which the M11's are known for.

    • @cruisingandromeda
      @cruisingandromeda  3 місяці тому +1

      This is great info! Thank you! I will definitely be checking in to that. I have heard that about the M11's before. Worth digging in to again! Thank you for the great comment and for following along!

    You're cutting a bit close with your draft. Maybe not as close as you stated. Did you consider the depth of your transducer when stating your depth? Fortunately the actual depth is deeper than your plotters readings.
    If your want to have your route in deeper water consider the following:Before autorouting on Navionics. Preset your boats depth on Navionics to 8 feet.
    The autoroute will now take you through a deeper water route
    Need to be a little careful when backing at that marina
    Low tide your props might be in the mud!

    • @cruisingandromeda
      @cruisingandromeda  3 місяці тому

      Thank you Daniel! That is good advice and that is how we have Navionics set up. The auto route was correct based on the chart and those settings. But the current shoaling was not on the chart. We just went very very slow. Thanks for the great comment! Thank you for watching!

    You are more willing to run outside than most of the channels I watch. Actually, think you prefer it sometimes! Do you think you would have followed the GICW if you didn't have the issues and are now trying to make up time?

    • @cruisingandromeda
      @cruisingandromeda  3 місяці тому

      Great question John! We like running on the outside better. It reminds us of Lake Michigan back home. Of course the weather/waves make the difference, but not having to do constant course corrections, change speeds, wait for bridges, watch for reckless boaters etc. etc...to us it is just more enjoyable to be in big open water. Peaceful. Thank you for the comment and for following along John! Best to you!

    After your catastrophe hitting that submerged whatever, why in the world would you cut your course so close to the cape in such shallow water? Makes no sense.

    • @cruisingandromeda
      @cruisingandromeda  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Mike. Great question. The whole thing makes no sense....life makes no sense....do you need everything, even in someone else's life to make sense? Or just you own? Live a little..... Things happen, we're fine, it worked out, so I guess it makes sense now. Thanks for watching!

  • @peterandersen8684

    Hard to believe this guy has already had one catastrophic grounding and is happy about taking his boat on plane thru 4-5 foot water. Just plain crazy. Zero reason to do that.

      @@cruisingandromeda You are missing the point, and the ability to read a chart and navigate properly. Im not delicate or nervous. I just think you did something very foolish.
