- This was our first ROAV event and what a blast it was. We chose an aggressive, intermediate/difficult trail. This is definitely not our normal style but we figured that if to try a difficult trail… this is the place to do it, when you’re surrounded by knowledgeable off-roaders!
This video captures a little bit of everything, including us getting stuck at a 34 degree forward angle, and getting winched out! We were stuck in that position for about 15-20 minutes. We couldn’t move as we had a wood log up to our rear left door. Moving an inch would have meant a major scratch and damage to the door and rear fender. Check it out!
This ride was crazy. Tons of fun too, glad to have had someone record it
So nice to see that full size creeping along in there. Love it!
It was a great pleasure to have you join us for your first ROAV event Allen. Approximately 225 people in over 100 vehicles attended. This is our 9th year at Wintergreen, and they are excellent hosts for our membership. Switch & Slide is the name of the intermediate trail where you found yourself on the 34 degree perch. Michael T. Boggs was your guide for the day and helped navigate you through the many obstacles you encountered. We had 8 new Defenders at the Rally, including yours. Our largest annual event, the Mid-Atlantic Rally is scheduled for September 30 - October 3, at Wheatland Farm, in Giles County, Virginia. We hope to see you there!
Great catching up with you Bob and we hope to see you in CO and UT soon.
MAR will be a challenge for us to make this year as we’ll be coming back from AZ earlier that week. Gotta do that thing… work :)
@@afterthelandroverexperience I am glad we will see you at GARR Allen. Many of us you met last year atop Imogene Pass and at Wintergreen, will be making that long trek westward in September. We have about a dozen trucks staying at Canyonlands Camp in Moab. Travel safe!
Only found this out recently but you can now get coil springs for the defender 110.
You guys got rid of the Disco!? I am eager to hear your comparison between the two!
No, still have the D5
The "new defender" should have been the successor to the LR4.
Question, going by the many different number/licence plates where did this event take place ?
Is it my imagination but the "old yellow truck" seemed so much more nimbler ?
Maybe next time carry a small Li battery powered Stihl chain saw for those pesky logs ?
Yes, that is offroading. It has nothing to do with a rally car race or bashing with speed trough nature. Take your time, choose the best line, read the track and always relay on your spotter.
I'd love to know more about your defender before the accessories. Does it have the base cloth seats?
Yes we do.
@@afterthelandroverexperience Do you find those comfortable enough for your long trips? I have heard they don't have adjustable lumbar and aren't that comfortable for long trips because of it?
Does lucky8 sell a rear ladder that works with the front runner rack or did you have to modify?
Major modifications
Are you running any lift rods for those tires? What size are the yokohama's? Any rubbing and any noticeable impact on daily driving? I just picked up my 2022 p300 and I am looking to run 25/70r18's with the lucky8 sliders. Just curious if you have any issues etc. Awesome videos!
Hi there. Please check our website for build information. Congrats on the new P300! Awesome rig!
Looks like an honest tread lightly test. Perhaps an electric chainsaw or winch the log?
One was ordered and on the way :)
Its going to be very interesting when the Ineos Grenadier hits the show rooms . Love to these two cars on a head to head on severe OFF ROAD .
What a trip!!! My god, this was cool. So are these all local events that you go to each week? Are they just 4x4 groups or official land rover ones?
These are groups and friends getting together
Rover Owners Association of Virginia (ROAV) is the oldest and largest Land Rover club in North America. We host two events annually. Rovers at Wintergreen (RAW) is scheduled for the first week in April, though we postponed this year to allow more members to attend with Virginia vaccination rates, and our other event is scheduled for the first week in October. Our Mid-Atlantic Rally (MAR) is held at Wheatland Farm in Giles County, Virginia. For more information, you can visit our website at ROAV.org.
which tyres did you drive with?
RR Classic would have walked that no drama
No one had a saw to cut that tree....
Sadly we learned that someone had one. Oh well, got to practice the winch
why not winch the fallen tree trunk? Please cut the music next time
nice lil 4 cy defender on steel rims does every thing his $90,000 brothers do
