25 Aloe Species - World of Aloe Part 1

Someone told me that u cant eat an aloe vera chinensis. Is that true und if so, whats their use?

I only know two Aloe Vera varieties and they are the barbadensis and chinensis or chinese aloe. I consume them both. For me, not all aloes are edible, but all Aloe Vera are edible. That is why it is important to know whether what you are eating is Aloe Vera, because there are Aloe species that looks similar with Aloe Vera. I found one at the store that said "hedgehog aloe". Is that edible and of so then what does it do?

Although it is a much sturdier than Aloe vera, Hedgehog aloe doesn't grow big. It is also a medicinal aloe, but I don't know if it is edible. Most people use Hedgehog aloe as desk plant.

Aloe vera is not completely edible. The 1st one, the "most" edible and the well known as edible is aloe arborescens.

If you mean by "completely" is all parts of the leaves, then Aloe saponaria beats Aloe arborescens.

I eat all the parts of the leaf. I grow some aloe arborescens on the outside terrace of my apartment and sometimes I eat some pieces of leaves. I eat all the parts and I never have had any stomachache.

I'm sure aloe arborescens mixed with salad leaves, tomatoes, sweet peppers, onion, basil, mustard, oil and vinegar can be really good !! That would be "insanely" good to eat...
