I just got my 2016 ZX10R ABS KRT, and it sounds even better in person. If anyone is worried about the "lack of bottom end/midrange" don't be! This bike is a beast, its just geared tall and restricted in the north american market. That being said, its still fast as hell, and if you get an ECU flash from a tuner like Don Guhl, it just comes into its own and is PERFECT! You don't even have to change the exhaust, gearing, air filter or anything to have an absolute cruise missile of a bike. But even stock with the restrictions, its still completely mental when you want it too be, but so smooth and relaxed around town/commuting. Chase was definitely on the money, when he said this was the commuter monster, and an excellent road bike!
I have this same bike and I absolutely love it. After being tuned and 3/4 exhaust hooked to the titanium headers, the bike comes even more alive. And it is a sexy machine. I get so many compliments on it still 5 years later
I have a 2016 ZX-10, I didn’t like the midrange legs, a little too long. So I dropped the primary gear 1 tooth, put a Sprint air filter, and run 110 octane race fuel. This bike will flatten your eye balls in about 1 second when you nail the throttle. As for size and weight I love the feel in a 130 mph corner. It’s just right. Get use to the bike and you’ll love it.
The First Ride series has come a long way and the content just keeps getting better and better. I really love the quality of the glam shots at the beginning, I think It would enhance the videos if there were more bike specifications added to each shot in the same style you do the price. Keep up the great work and keep improving and making the First ride series better.
Thanks for saying that Wilmer. Let me know specifically the type of information you would like to start seeing in the beginning and I'll do my best to add it.
TheCoolTable and Adrian Leonides have good points. Personally I think break specifications, engine power output, and electronic assists would add an extra layer on information to the First Rides. I really like how you added the weight comparison in the video, it makes a difference to have that information. Personally I think adding information like that allows you to focus more on how the bike rides and the way it feels on the road, it reduces the need for you to say every little detail about the bike. Thanks for the reply it's good to know you are always looking for feedback, thumbs up.
+chaseontwowheels great bro maybe I will start to motovloging some time soon, there's moto volgers out in San Bernardino, riverside and LA that you may have heard of and watched their videos but I haven't heard of anyone motovloging here in Palm Springs CA lol....to be honest you Inspire me to get up and just make some Moto vlogs and start something new I've never done👍🏽💪🏽
Stability in corners is awesome! They moved the motor forward and up a little higher for the 2016 to distribute more weight over the front to assist with stability.
16:40 hahhahaha i had the exactly same reaction to the zx10r (2011 modell) the full power mode is insane!!! realy liked your first ride! keep going chase :) greets from germany
Hey Chase, for the U-turn you can do 2 things to shorten the radius significantly. 1st thing get in a little faster so you use the front brake for the whole U-turn (Caution here: I wont advise new riders to do that!!), 2nd is to push the bike under you so you increase the lean angle. I apologize if I didnt get the idea of this U-turn thing.
i think the case of this bike is... at normal commuter style riding it is a great smooth manageable bike. but if you wanna let it run wild it also does that!
@@FlyTour69 that’s possible if you live with your parents only, for us adults it dont work 🙂 But there is no reason to pay 16k formthis when s1000rr basic red model is 17k
I'm pretty biased because i own a 09 zx10r and they're my favorite liter bikes but i was really hoping this review was gonna be like "wow this bikes amazing" or "holy balls this is the greatest liter bike on the planet". But that's also why I watch your reviews, they're straight forward and honest and I like that.
You ever thought about reviewing a 2019 ZX10RR I am not sure how you choose the bikes you review I like how you review them actually show us what the bike can do on the streets
I dont think he can or he would... but lets hope he reviews the 2020 zx10r cause apparently they are upgrading it... also kawi is working on a 250cc i4 bike... that he would definitely review if it comes out
Chase, I *GUARANTEE* that people will watch the whole 24 minute video from beginning to end (several times) if you put the first 2 minutes on repeat, or just *all* sick camera shots!
This bike is great on the track - I think its the comfortable stance and the compliance of the suspension that is making you think its not a "sharp" bike.
Interesting to hear your thoughts. The magazines have been, well, less than kind to the big Kawis. But damn, I think they look good. I'm a Honda guy, but Honda hasn't given us anything in that category since I rode a Big Wheel or so. I'm not a fan of the new R1 (too strange), and I don't love the mono-headlight on Gixxers. That leaves the Big Green, which looks GREAT, especially after a sweet Chase edit. Nice!
Yeah, I'm thinking my desires are shifting to something more German or Italian in the big bike category. I'm also a big fan of the Triumph Daytona, even though it's a 675cc.
It sounds and seems to me as though you had some of the most fun ever on this ZX10R. A lot of fun from a lot of little happy surprises that you didn't expect to have. Good stuff man. I will have to demo it soon.
I didn't think I'd say this... but I love the way this bike looks. Also with L mode being so low powered, could you possibly start on this monster? Honestly I really wanted to get an R3 then R6 then R1. But this seems more, like you said "approchable".
The R3 is definitely going to be a better option but honestly man I was surprised with this bike and with all the rider aids it wouldn't be the worst option to choose as a first bike.
Honestly, that's pretty cool that you can set it to low power mode and just get more experience before changing the modes. But, if you have never ever ridden before.. I would recommend an R3. You won't have a problem selling it as ppl are always looking for beginner bikes. Also, obviously the R3 is gonna be way more affordable, you wouldn't want to wreck or drop a $17,000 bike.
+SS Moto True. but I look at it like this. With every bike, there is a chance to wreck or drop it. it's just a matter if when. But yeah I think I'll get the R3.
I like you Chase, however I really don't think you can review a bike when all you're doing is cruising and not taking it on twisty roads. I mean moving it side to side on a straight road and saying it leans is just mad. I know it might be difficult because in America you aren't spoiled with loads of twisty roads near you like we are here in the UK, just something to consider though. I feel you're reviewing bikes without riding them properly and seeing what they are truly like.
Its also annoying that everything is heavy for Him just because He rides 600 doesn't mean that every 1000 has to be as light as 600.I think Zx10r is a great bike it just needs an aftermarket exhaust so it's not choking it's power down.
Ha your comment is 4 years old but looking at my first bike I'm between this and an r3. I've rode a ton of dirt bikes and I build Honda's (cars). Might grab both, they're about 3k a piece
I owned the 2017 model year of this bike, and watchign this vid, I forgot how good this bike was to me. I miss it! Manageable, confortable (for a sport bike) except mine was black (Winter I think) color. Looked great, but had a black Akro exhaust. Great bike, almost want to pick one up again, except I'm used to LED lights, and frankly, I liked that dash... Tried a 2024 model, and I may pick one of those at some point, but the previous gen felt so much more confortable to me... Loved it! This was my first Liter bike (after owning 3 ZX-6Rs before)
It might not feel very 'sharp' as you said, but don't forget that bike is currently in the lead of the World Superbike championship! All those superbike and supersport bikes are track weapons!
That's the "bad boy" of motorcycles! You don't get to truly enjoy it unless you unleash the beast! Cause it'll do whatever you want it to do. The question is: How far can you take it? It's the screamin' demon!
Anyone think that it would be okay to go from a Ninja 300 to a ZX10? Edit: Thanks guys for the help. I'm going to do a DRZ400sm as first bike than go to either a ZX6R or GSXR750. Thanks again for the help.
depends. are you a responsible and experienced rider? if so then yes, go for it. if you are not and be honest with yourself then no. cause you could end up in a lot of trouble or seriously hurt.
Watched your video in the show room kinda made up my mind to get the zx10 well done on the video. I have not rode in awhile so I started on low mode a week later riding full mode love this bike.

Maybe the power is slow to react because it flicks so easily basically so you don’t kill yourself in a turn I just bought a 636 two days ago but i rode a R1 for two days before I got the 636
+chaseontwowheels Dude I'm so glad you did a review on this bike!!! I bought it about a month ago now and love it! Your on the KRT version btw haha. For its weight when you're in the twisties it's so flickable man. Love it!
nice man! I first rode a 2016 FZ09 today! and OMG! I had to leave before i pulled out my wallet and said "here take my money". BTW it was nice meeting you at the meetup!
I can't get over that Yamaha XSR900 he did. It looked great, had the FZ-09 engine, and made me want to reevaluate my riding life. I've always been a Honda and Triumph kind of guy, but DANG that bike looked sweet.
Rubbish review as usual. 1000cc superbike and U doing low speed, low rev. I don't understand all the time shit. Full throttle but only up to 50% rev. You should read about bike, check spec before test.
alibaba 500 you are aware that it's illegal to top the bike out on the street... I think it was well done. if you wanna see it maxed out watch track videos.
Since you've ridden the busa, you should take out the zx14 and do a mild comparison and a first ride together for the biggest sportbikes. Hope other people like this idea too as well as you chase!!
I have this same bike(16 zx10r abs). the reason for the build up of power when you twist the throttle is from the drive by wire throttle setup. also, the higher traction setting the more invasive ie. slower the throttle valves open
I just realized you're in Georgia. And it happens to be a sunny day, as it was when you were demonstrating the Yamaha XSR900. I had thought it might be California. I've been to Georgia. It doesn't hold a candle to many parts of Cali.
that is what I was saying just sitting in it the bars feel closer and the setting position and feet on the Peg's and like when ur on the highway also With a little heavier u don't get pushed around!!!!! I'm a Suzuki guy to the fullest but honestly I'm sold on the KAWASAKI ZX10!!
That has got to be one of the best sounding stock exhausts of all time.

Coz it's kawasaki
I just found a used one for sale with low low miles
Just wish I wasn’t so damn tall. This would be a fun bike to have.

Since you've ridden the busa, you should take out the zx14 and do a mild comparison and a first ride together for the biggest sportbikes. Hope other people like this idea too as well as you chase!!
I fucking love your first rides!
when I want to show someone a sick bike, I just pull up your videos. keep kicking ass.
+Bryan Thornburgh this in okay with
I have this same bike(16 zx10r abs). the reason for the build up of power when you twist the throttle is from the drive by wire throttle setup. also, the higher traction setting the more invasive ie. slower the throttle valves open
Good to watch you having fun bruh!
