5 REASONS TO SWITCH TO LED BULBS (+Install Guide)

- I give 5 reasons why you should switch to LED bulbs. As a bonus, I show you how to install LED bulbs in the fog lights of my VW MK6 Jetta GLI. Also, I said the LED bulbs were 6000 lumens. They are actually 7600Lm(Lumens) with a color temperature of 6000k(Kelvin).
About a month ago a company from Canada called Lasfit sent me a pair of their LED bulbs for my headlights. I really liked them so I got a set for my foglights.
Using the affiliated links below does not cost extra money but pays me a small percentage to help me afford to keep making videos like this. Thanks for your support!

I want ur headlights so bad
franfie here in brazil has many consumers of jetta tsi if you make videos directed to our audience with portuguese subtitles of brazil you will win many writings because much of what speaks in your videos would help us with things under re the car, your videos are great and all these changes that make in the car is interesting att Rafael
Rafael Silva Wow, that is a great idea! Thank you!
FrankieGisMe I share your videos in groups of jetta by whatsapp and always te.os doubts and thing about maintenance, accessories to make the car more beautiful and your car is beautiful too !! I'll catch your videos myself.
I do have a question. I have a 2017 GLI so the headlights were halogen. Yellow like rat teeth. So I replaced them with the lasfit LED's. I know the LED's have fans on the rear of them for cooling. Should I replace the rear covers so the LED's dont get dirty or leave them off to 'breathe'? Thank you and keep the vids coming!
+John Allen I have my covers on. I’m pretty sure they’re fine in the closed compartment .
just ordered lasfit, how are they
I liked them. Had them in for a couple years. I put my bi-xenon bulbs back in recently
i’m still curious on the warning canceler and how you did it...
Just a short wire that plugs in between the bulb and the wiring harness
@@Frankiegisme thanks boss !!
Clean! Btw I remember you saying that you live in Arizona - what city do you live in??
+Luke Selby I live in Phoenix
FrankieGisMe Same! I drive a white 2015 GLI. Do you go to any meets?
+Luke Selby I go to Pavs in Scottsdale most Saturday’s
I want this for my 2015 SEL.
Will the aftermarket headlights fit on a 2017 jetta gli?
Fit all 2011-2018 Jetta
I bought these same headlight assemblies, pain in the arse to install, but I currently have HID low and led in the hi and fog. My issue is on cold days here in Pittsburgh, it takes a long time for the hid to burn off the condensation in them, but I am ok with that trade off, I think vw should have included projectors from factory but I love the white on black storm trooper thing you got going
I had a similar issue when I had HID bulbs. I now have LED bulbs and rarely if ever have the same problem. It’s easy to swap the bulbs and that might solve your issue. Thanks for watching
i have the exact car, but with the Limited Edition GLI trim. mannnn i love your videos!
Hi there! I just installed the Helix headlights on my MK6 GLI and they are awesome - just a question - how did you adjust the beam height so that they are properly set?
There is a white “x” for a Philips screwdriver. Park on level surface in the evening and adjust accordingly
Looks really good bro! Needs low 😂😂
+Wesley_ Media haha ya I’m working on it
FrankieGisMe haha I’m going to say that in every vid until you do it 🤣🤣
Wesley_ Media 🤦🏻♂️😂😂
Did you swap the low beams as well? I did but get an error message even though both bulbs work? If you did, what bulbs did you use for those?
The bulbs I used worked for high and low beam. As of last week I switch back to HID for high and low beam. My fog lights at still the bulbs I installed in this video. If you got a warning you need to order a $10 harness. Usually called a warning canceler or anti flicker harness.
Lasfit go out of business? All your links say product is unavailable....
Probably sold out. You can probably search amazon for LED’s with similar specs
I have a 2014 gli where did you find the bulb specs for the car everywhere I look it's only Jetta or Jetta sedan I just don't wanna get the wrong ones
If you have factory headlights that have halogen bulbs then the replacement is any H7 style bulb. For the fog lights it’s any h8 bulb
Was it hard to do the high beams? It seems like I’m going to need a torx wrench to get mine in. I tried with the lights in your description, but they just weren’t threading. Any tips? 2017 GLI
+m0de I have after market headlight. I did notice that it’s a snug fit threading then. You need to line it up, apply a good amount of pressure, and twist.
I see that you like amazon lol I have a hard time with the selections amazon gives you like for example I try to put the H8 bulb and it gives me the option only for the fanless led bulb which I think isn’t the one you have if you could help me choose the right one man I’d greatly appreciate it
Ha ya man! There’s an amazon warehouse in my city so everything comes faster. I hate waiting. They might have been out of stock from that seller. I did a new search for “Lasfit H8 LED bulbs” and the first option had them available. Maybe try that
Did the aftermaket give your system any error codes? I have a 2016 TSI and just making sure before I purchase. Cheers
I did not get any errors. However, some people have told they have. So just incase, I recommend also buying a warning canceler. They’re about $10-$20 and will remove any potential errors. If it turns out you didn’t need it, you can always return it.
FrankieGisMe thanks for the quick reply!! Car looks nice mate
Is there a fog light fuse??? I put my leds in and neither light works now
Led’s are polar opposite. Usually work after you unplug and flip them around
Looks sick bro
+Cali Cuauhtli thanks man 👍
Where did you get your roof racks? I'm looking to get them for my mk6 tdi
You can find it on amazon here a direct link fgisme.com/roofrack
Where did you get the actual headlight kit from? Very similar to BMW lights 😂
They’re actually designed to look like the VW mk7 GTI headlights. Here’s a video all about them ua-cam.com/video/-9Qj4cdWae0/v-deo.html
Do you have to get the D2S bulbs for them to fit in the aftermarket headlights correctly? I read in vwvortex forums that the default H7 I believe? Doesn’t fit in those aftermarket ones correctly. That true?
For the helix headlights that I have, only D2S bulbs fit. The housing for the bulbs is completely different than the stock headlights that use H7.
The LED bulbs you installed, I found them on Amazon and was wondering how they are after you've had them installed for a few months. Have you had any issues with that brand or have they been working pretty well?
I have had my LED headlight bulbs in for 11 months and FOG bulbs in for 10 months. I haven’t had any issues with then. Other people have told me that they get a dash message that says their bulb is out even tho it’s not. If that happens you just need a warning canceller. They cost like $10.
What bulbs are you running as your headlights? Did you switch those to LED as well? Or are they still the Kensun HID Bi-Xenons you put in originally?
I’m running led bulbs in my headlights too. Here’s the link to that vid ua-cam.com/video/aqzev2JoIYs/v-deo.html
I ask because I have the same Helix headlights and the Kensun Bi-Xenons, which I paired with the extra anti-flicker adapters, are giving me trouble. My driver's side headlight wont light up and its not the bulb.
Duke Duren did it ever work?
Bro your fog lights link doesn’t work :/
Thanks! I just fixed the links.
Do you have to drill a hole to the headlight cover to fit the led bulbs in the headlight? They seem longer in length than oem halogen bulbs. Thanks
I’m not sure on the OEM headlights because I have aftermarket headlights.
FrankieGisMe I ordered the same aftermarket headlights as yours bro. My concern is if you had to do any mod to get the new led bulb to fit like oem with out drilling the headlight cover cap
I already had the cap drilled because of the HID bulbs that I used to run.
6000 Kelvin, not Lumens.
Lol I realized that after I filmed. It should be correct in the description.
Frankie G.....in the 🏠 ! Thank 4 the video bro
Thanks for watching 👍
Picked these up. They fit on the hole (h7) but they do not lock in place :/
I had to carefully push hard and twist. It took a few tries then went in.
FrankieGisMe I have a 2018 gli that has an adapter clip that does not fit onto the led bulb in any way. I just tried for 45mins. I pushed hard. Turned it upside down, right side up, sideways, etc. Doesn't fit :/
Dang that’s crazy! Haven’t seen that setup before.
Did u need anything in addition to the lasfit fog light? Is it just simple plug and play?
Ya they are plug and play. Some mk6 owners said they needed a warning canceller to avoid dash errors. I did not need that but if you do they are less than $10.
Awesome thanks g
Anytime man 👍🏼 thank you for watching and supporting my channel 😁
Is the light output powerful at night?
Adequate and noticeable
@@Frankiegisme I’ve heard people saying there’s a dead spot in the middle-front, understandably as the main output is blocked by the front U with the indicator bulb. Did you seal your headlights with silicone as apparently that condensate? Appreciate the response brother.
No dead spot. Did not seal. 0 condensation.
@@Frankiegisme epic! These were from ecs tuning right?
Ya but they say on backorder. I found them on eBay tho and added the link to my website frankiegisme.com/videos.php?v=-9Qj4cdWae0
Did you use the same LED bulbs for the high and low beams?
Ya, it’s one bulb that works for both high and low beam
? I noticed your lights have what looks like 2 bulb locations and the headlights I have have 2 bulb locations IE the outer is the low beam and the inner is the high beam. Also the link for the LED bulbs is for D2S/D2R/D4S/D4R Not the factory H7. Just want make sure I get the right ones the 1st time
On my headlights the outter U housing is the low and high beam. The inner U shape is the turn signal.
Also, there are multiple links in the description. One of them says “factory” that is the H7 style. The other is D2S
Btw love your videos 👍
Thanks man! I appreciate your support 👍
Did you paint the bottom of the bumper or is it and aftermarket lip
Factory GLI lip with plasti dip
Nice! I plan to order the spoiler for mine I just have the S model I have a straight pipe and I recently installed the forge bov. I want to get some LEDs as well to match the DRLs
How hard was it to do the forge bov install
It was pretty easy a couple steps you get to were tough the clips were kinda hard and the intake as well but other then that it’s pretty simple
Cool man I’ll be doing that in the near future
Do they not throw a bulb out error on the gli?
Andrew Silverstone they don’t on mine. If they do you can find a warning canceller on amazon for about $10
I'm getting a warning for mine. Only for one of the lights tho. It's annoying and I'll be getting the canceling device.
John Allen what year is yours, so I can mention that to others?
FrankieGisMe 2017. I'm gonna disconnect and reconnect first to see if perhaps it's not fully seated. When the code comes on it comes on and goes off, over and over intermittently but the lights all stay on.
+John Allen hmm 🤔 that’s weird. I don’t have issues with my headlights or fog lights.
I got a mk6 GLI stage 3 tune I'm thinking of a carbon hood, any thoughts?
Josh Newhall I’m not the biggest fan of carbon fiber. Many carbon hoods are nearly as heavy as the stock hood because a lot of companies make them cheaply by only doing the top layer carbon fiber. So since there isn’t much weight reduction it just comes down to personal preference. If you like it, then get and don’t worry what other people think.
