  • PROTECTiQ PRO Installation:
We strongly recommend watching our step by step video for a thorough installation guide.
Initial Prep: Cleaning the wheels with soap and water is a great first step, although not necessary. Rubbing alcohol is your final cleaning step.Pro Tip (most wheels do not require this): If your wheels have substantial curb rash, you can briefly sand down the rough spots to yield a smooth surface. A flat surface is ideal for the tape. Thoroughly clean any sanded areas.
Clean the surface of your wheel with rubbing alcohol (70% or higher isopropyl) and a rag. Use additional rubbing alcohol until no dirt is transferring to your rag. Allow the wheel to dry (3-5 minutes).
Pro Tip: Cut a small piece of the starting edge of the trim to a straight, clean cut. This allows a clean, flush joint where the ends meet each other.
Peel a small section of the red 3M release liner, yielding the black underside.
Pro Tip: The tape has an extremely high initial tack. Once initially stuck to the wheel, we do not recommend repositioning.
Choose a starting section of the wheel (the flattest part) and start by precisely applying the tape. Use the top arch of the “L” shape PROTECTiQ PRO to assist in applying a smooth arch around the wheel.
Pro Tip: Peel only a small section of tape at a time to allow for a precise, smooth arch.
Continue applying the trim all the way around the rim. Be sure to go back over applied sections with ample pressure. This is very important.
Pro Tip: During the final third of the installation, precisely measure and cut about an inch long overhang of the trim (with the release liner still attached). This makes the final cutting step much easier.
Leave the release liner attached to the final 5 inches for the finishing cut. This allows the installer to dry fit the very last edge of the trim. Precisely measure and cut the exact amount of trim needed. Peel the remaining liner off and firmly apply the finishing edge.
Pro Tip: Error on the side of not cutting enough trim off for a tighter gap where the ends meet. You can always cut more off if necessary.
Re-apply pressure over the entire trim, confirming the tape is secure. Add one clear gap strip to the joining edge. There are four small strips on the single clear sheet.
Pro Tip: You are now the pro! Step back, admire your work and takes lots of pictures. Please share with your friends and our team at Sales@RIMiQ.com
