IMPORTANT QUESTION! No one has answered this yet -- but if I got a cheap wireless charger, could it "damage" the battery or wireless charging coil the way that a NON-MFi Certified Lightning cable would?
Honestly the way I see it why would you want to buy a cheap Chinese charger. If you're spending $700 to a $1000 for a phone why would you skimp on the charger. That's like buying a Ferrari at putting Walmart oil in it.. just saying
I feel like this is the beginning of the end of the charging port. I mean, Apple already removed the headphone jack. If they can improve wireless charging speeds and get wireless data transfer, the charging port could theoretically be removed.
Is it good or bad for 15w/20w fast charging for iphone 8plus? Does it heat our phone and the battery is killing our phone and the battery health reduced?
Hello, which program (app) were you using to monitor the percentage at which your batteries on the two phones were being charged at...? Please & thank you 😉👍🏼
One of the BEST, HANDS-ON tech reviews I've ever seen on UA-cam! Keep rocking on bro and hope you get sponsored so you don't go broke buying all that gear!
So from what I've heard from other sources, iPhone will wirelessly charge with a case or a pop socket on. But what about having a pop socket attached to the case? Is it too much?
OK I have a Galaxy S9 plus and your right, many 3rd party wireless chargers do not trigger fast charging. Can you recommend which ones do for 2020? Thank you in advance!
I only use wireless charing at work. I use a stand version, that way faceID works while it's charging. That way when I get a notification the phone unlocks and I can see it without any intervention on my part, but if I walk away from my desk, my coworker can't read my notifications because the phone won't unlock. It also makes it easier to charge throughout the day without constantly plugging and unplugging or picking it up and down, since I'd have to get a dock to have FaceID facing me. Qi is just easier. BUT at home I just use a cable since my place is pretty messy. I think they each have their pros and cons. Qi is easier for stationary use and power top ups, plugging in is better for portability and full charging.
I had a 7 with a Mophie Charge Force case($50usd) and bought all the Mophie accessories @bestbuy such as the car vent and the desk charger as well as the ikea desk lamp. All worked great and had a great setup as I am a skip driver and always going in and out of car. I upgraded to an X and just stuck a small magnet in the apple silicone case. I find the phone's internal charging so slow that while on shift the phone says it is charging but Im losing percentage. I do not wanna get another Charge force case as they are pricey($100usd). I think I'll just take back my 7 and let my wife enjoy the X. Plus I do find it annoying working without the home button.
If you want to start using a wireless charger with an iPhone8, do you have to go into your phones settings and enable wireless charging, or is it automatic if the phone senses the charger?
Correct me if I’m wrong, I use the mophie one for my 8plus, I thought apple was going to activate fast charge feature with a OTA update in early 2018 when the apple power mat is released? Which is then meant to charge the iPhone 8/8plus/x in around 30mins, which my mophie clearly does not..
Used the Belkin charger with my new iPhone 8+ in a Tech 21 plastic case and the popsocket on the bottom half of the phone got extremely hot. What gives? Did I damage my phone? Loved you video.
Can you update to include LGear ? I am fairly sure I just got ripped off . No support response , not impressed with how long it takes , Apple Watch didn’t charge and shady packaging
So I have a wallet case that I keep my credit cards in - will the wireless charge destroy the credit cards? Or does it not matter now that cc's have chips and don't need the magnetic strip anymore?
So i tried Qi chargers when then first came out, I used for one because once they fully charged the phone they stopped so the phone would not be at 100% when I woke up. Do they trickle charge yet?
Pitaka has a minimalist aramid fiber magnetic case that also works with QI charging and even also has their own magnetic car mount that provides QI wireless charging while being docked. They also have a rugged case that works the same way.
I have a question that no one on the web has answered.I got an iPhone X and iPhone 8 for my wife, the question is: will the wireless charging make the battery somehow explode? or will it destroy the battery on the long run? I am using Mophie wireless charger.
What app are you running that shows the battery levels on the screen? The circle with the percentage showing? I put a metal plate in my case so it sticks in my car. I can get my Qi charger to work but had to relocate the plate to the bottom section of the case so as to allow the magnet to get to it. Thanks for the great review.
Great video! I’ve scrolled through some of the questions and comments here, but haven’t seen a direct answer to my particular question I’m about to ask. I just upgraded to the iPhone 10R ( from the iPhone 6Plus ) and am struggling with life now that I can’t use the MobArmor magnetic phone holder that I’ve grown accustomed to. Or can I? I’m certain I’m not going to utilize wireless charging, as I’m never in one place long enough to set my phone down ( besides at bedtime when I’m perfectly content plugging it in via lightning port ). Does the magnet on the phone mount actually “damage” the wireless charging internals in the phone, or does it just “interfere” with wireless charging, and is otherwise relatively harmless? I have grown addicted to MobArmor line of mounts.
I'm wondering if my case is causing issues with my charging using my wireless charger. I have the griffin survivor extreme. Any thoughts on this? It is quite slim but I'm just not seeing results with it.
what would happen if you put your phone on a Qi charger and pluged it in with the cable? would it charge even faster. Would the wireless charge be negated? would the wired connected be negated?
If your iPhone 8/8+ already plug into the lightning USB C cable + macbook 29W charger doing a fast charging, then you put your phone on top of a wireless charging pad, will it be SUPER fast charging?
You put so much work into this and you don't do it for.money or whatever. That makes you an amazing youtuber with great and honest content! Love your work
I have the iPhone 8 plus, and I bought one Moto Qi charger and one cheap one (for my desk at work) on amazon. Shockingly, both work just fine with through a popsocket. Just FYI for anyone wondering.
I have yet to find a wireless charger that uses a lightning connector on the charging pad or surface. If I want to use my phone on a low charge, it would be nice if I could quickly disconnect from the charging pad and plug directly into my phone. Until this feature is available, I have no interest in wireless charging, especially if I’m laying in bed looking at my phone before “lights out”. Great video btw! 😊
Can (cheap) wireless chargers damage ur battery and/or phone? I want to get one that I like and it's only 15 euro. But I am not sure if it's save. (It has Qi standards)
Thank you. I was worried about the Caudabe Synthesis iPhone X case elevation (due to the feet on each corner) impacting wireless charging. But after seeing this vid, I’m now better informed!
If you want “fast charging” and don’t want to spend $80 for the Mac charger and adapter I would advise buying a 12w iPad charger you can find these online for less than $15 hopefully this helps someone I use one on my iPhone X and it works amazing.
I watched a couple of videos now but this gave me only the answer... however, I'm still wondering whether it is normal that a 'fast wireless changer' only charges my iPhoneX by 4-5% in half an hour? That is a disappointing performance for me. I bought an iOttie fast charger mount expecting that it will charge faster than the cable charger. So far what I experienced it is only enough to keep the battery level (or + 4-5%) while the cable charges up my phone around 20% in half an hour.

Christian Taylor so no port at all xD
Could you imagine all the kicking and screaming Apple would have to deal with.
But I agree. That's where the future lies.
*Can u wireless charge wet iPhone?*
why would you charge a wet iPhone
The port is also really usefull for fast data transfer. It would be really stupid of them to remove it.
The way Monty looks at you 😭😍 so cute.

What’s better for battery ? cable or wireless
Thanks for the info. I'm not sure that I will be using wireless charging because I've heard that it gets hotter than just plugging it in.
I didn't notice a heat difference. But I do know if the iPhone get's too hot, it will just shut off.
What app is that you are using to show the charging?
