See Gotcha yep that’s it like with me I would love to go back Samsung but once you in Apples ecosystem it’s impossible to get out especially if you got more than one like I do
In America literally everyone has an iPhone and uses iMessage facetime, etc. But in Europe, for example, WhatsApp is usually the norm, so everyone has a fair chance
Oxidex “literally” everyone? You must be under 30 or simply stupid to use that word so lightly. Why do people use words they don’t know the meaning of?
Lol@linus Edit: I ain't hating on Linus. Thats how he feeds his family and pays his employees. At least he makes good funny sponsered videos and doesn't take himself too serious. I just thought it was a funny comment. Jeeze.
I think Linus is a goofball as much as the next guy, but you cant fault him for making some money. Plus the title wasn't click bait, it was clearly sponsored. I wouldn't be upset if MKBHD felt the need to do sponsored content on occasion either.
People aren't upset about sole sponsoring: Every viewer knows about those deals. No, it is upsetting that some reviewers now took the opportunity (read: money) to promote a product their viewership has no interest in - and that is for a reason: A vacuum cleaner is as good as an electric baby toy to the videoclickers who go to those channels for very few topics. And only for these they accept sponsoring and advertisements to happen.
Me needing a new phone: I wouldnt' mind getting Samsung, would make a change, to have one and go Android for a bit. *looks down at the Apple Watch on my wrist* Me: Oh right then this would be useless, another iPhone it is then.
@@HBKnowItAll the point is that since he already has an Apple Watch, he would then have to buy the Samsung watch if he were to switch to Android. Bless your little brain, I hope you get smarter one day. Good luck!
I'm really liking your new style of videos Marques. More opinionated and less fence sitting. Actually taking away something interesting and different perspective. Keep up the good work.
Just getting around to watching this and I truly appreciate your approach. I'm a cross-platform user myself, more on the Google side, but posting this on my daily driver - MacBook Pro. I do have an iPhone 11 (not my first iPhone) and I just can't bring myself to escape the Android specs and ability to customize so heavily. My current phone is the Samsung Note Ultra 20 5G and occasionally pop my sim in the Pixel 4XL because it has, by far, the best camera of all of my devices. I can see the appeal of an ecosystem, but for me, it just seems too limiting. I like to be able to switch between my work Windows machine and continue on my Mac without being totally dumbfounded by the OS. I always say, use what you're used to if you don't want to take the time to learn something else. But, if you take the time to learn, you won't be limited to one thing.
@@MasterKiller540_ if they do it to ios, apple will come up with a new platforms and make them apple-only, iphone users won't switch from iphones no matter what so they will be using these platforms.
Love how he is wearing a Apple watch and there is a Mac in the background but he still has an open mind about other platforms. Most people that apple can't see beyond apple. Cool video keep up the good work.
It’s partly because he’s informed about the tech and its features. Someone like me, a regular consumer, was just looking for the nicest experience and even a few years ago Apple was so good at providing that. Windows surface figured it out as well.
android kids literally go on any apple video to talk trash about it. It goes both ways. People need to like what they like and shut up. To many people getting emotions caught up into first world bickering
The problem here is Apple's ecosystem is closed. While Google provides service everywhere like UA-cam, Google search, Google Maps. They are supported weather its iOS, Android or Windows etc. I think we should or I'll support Google more than apple just because of this major reason. We as user get freedom to choose our devices & services.
Google provides service to everyone because they are in the business of selling customer data to third parties. Thats why I do not use or support them.
@@jaycook2323 But Google doesn't sell Private data, It only collects & share data which is not so personal for ads to provide service for free. Edit: Google shares data which is to show relevant ads (for example, It shares age range 18-24, 24-30.. etc. not exact age or approx location of ur state, country. Not any sensitive information.)
@@Username-2 That's the story so far. Apple gave up PowerPC, sent assembly to PRC and saved billions, added some cool innovative features to computers & smartphones and made more billions. Apple rose to the top with iPhone - the cash cow. But now, that cash cow is ageing and the story will change in 2020. Apple is undoubtedly a great company but my point is that Samsung is growing with it. Samsung displays are the gold standard in smartphones for a few years now. In fact, Samsung supplies the displays for the astonishing OP7 Pro as well.
When something doesn't work on Mac (ex. games) or works but not optimally on Mac (ex. some portable music players), is it always the fault of Apple, or is it the fault of the other company making the software or hardware? Seems like people like to put everything on Apple's shoulders these days.
Funny you would say this... the first and only Apple device I ever bought was an iPod back then... yes wayyyy back then... realised it is a completely closed "ecosystem" or better call it techno-Jail, which I don't want any part of - I installed the open OS Rockbox on that iPod! It still sounds great :-D
Marty my first internet device was an iPod touch my mother gave me after she bought a new one. It pains me to see the iPod being left behind to be forgotten just like that, I think it would be great if Apple improved the connection between the iPod and Apple Music, and improved DAC to make it more music focused and keep it alive.
6:03 lmaooo I legit ended up spending hours manually searching up all of the songs I had on Apple Music on Spotify so that I could finally switch because I was honestly just so sick of giving Apple any more of my money
Next time I recommend you use Tune my Music. It’s a site that transfers music from different streaming services. I’ve used it many times and it works perfectly.
Every single piece of the greatest human inventions is a fictional construct. Every country, goverment, ideological or religious group is running a cult based on fiction. The mission of these constructs is to reinstate their power while not admitting to their fictious nature. You cannot see an idea, a country or a city. They only exist in your intercollective memory. Instead you can see rock, glass and asphalt. We attach a story to these physical things; a nationality perhaps or a indepencence fight for democrazy against tyranny.
You're so right. This kinda reminds me of Bill Gates. He and his partners created great software back when Windows was born, which consumers flocked to. That same software had to eventually be updated with newer versions, which we happily paid for. THAT made Mr Gates very rich, very fast. LOL...but the best part was that the software updates led to more variety and the cycle continues today...ever since the inception of Windows. Today, Bill Gates is aging nicely and his bank account is bottomless. Thanks Bill and thank you Steve Jobs. I love your products!!
greenhavennn How old are you if you think Bill Gates made great products. Microsoft under Gates made crappy Windows but he sold lots of them because Microsoft was monopolistic. Innovation died when Microsoft was at the top because smaller software companies just can't compete.
Life with Mason it was for dyson vacuum cleaners. That was probably there to make fun of all the tech you tubers having dyson sponsorships at the time.
Steve Jobs has knitted a web which ain't that easy for one to escape, once you're in it. I have been avoiding apple devices for a long time and will keep on avoiding till I can afford a couple of them altogether.
It's a comfortable web, and everything should strive to be like that. Devices that plug into each other and communicate using a single standard. Apps that have the same basic UI elements and shortcuts. Apps that communicate between each other flawlessly to make better work flows. It's a good thing. I fail to see how someone would actively try to avoid this.
I jumped the garden wall after 7 years and got the Pixel 2 XL this year. While I wouldn't claim the flower beds are quite as tidy, there's just so much more to explore on this side of the wall - it's huge out here! I admit I occasionally miss the neatly-trimmed hedges, but on balance I prefer it on this side.
Well said, but strange. I don’t see it as being able to explore more. It’s about doing some of the same things somewhat different . Which is cool if that works for you. But as Apple/Google user who leans alittle more to Apple, I don’t feel like I’m in Apple jail...lol
Yeah ngl I barely touch the SMS and phone apps on my phone, and if I do, 9 times out of 10 it's because of a wrong number or scam call, or my Doordash driver.
just bought the wife and I 2020 M1 MBP/MBA's. Coming from PC my whole life, this video has been super informative and entertaining. Thanks a lot and gained a viewer my good man!
Do you REALLY think that she would even dare to say anything bad about the ecosystem? She's deeper in it than anyone lol And she would definitely not risk losing sponsorships
Whopcap Well a lot of Android users, such as myself, didn't understand how someone could be sucked into the Apple ecosystem. There are still some things about Apple I don't get (why MKBHD sticks to final cut when sony vegas and premiere pro exist.) I am already aware of the negatives of Apple and would appreciate a different look at the ecosystem.
What I love about Android is its like a PC or basically there are no limits. With apples ecosystem everything is based around the ecosystem... So u may have to us inferior u ur oducts and software because ur stuck in the ecosystem but with Android you can explore and use other software not based around the hardware
@Desh Gaming r/woooosh was never a meme, more of an insult. You also called something cringe, while bolding it. If you ask me, thats pretty cringe. Also you said in your first reply, you called him kid. Again, if you ask me, thats pretty **CRINGE**
As someone locked into the apple eco system I have to say this was spot on. I got into apple because I was sick of windows. Constantly having to troubleshoot things or having it update while I was in the middle of something. When I was in my teens I had fun doing that. Now that I am older and have responsibilities I just want my stuff to work without me having to do all the trouble shooting and research. What truly has hooked me lately ( I am not happy with the changes in apple since Steve Jobs passed) is iMessage and how well my stuff works together. I do wonder if there is a comparable way to do this on a windows or linux system. Windows has been getting better but still is not as effortless to use as a Mac for non techie stuff. Not ready to swap yet, but the greed in apple is starting to annoy me.
Similar feeling here. I spent 40 years in IT playing nursemaid to poorly-thought-out computer systems. Even though I enjoyed troubleshooting and was good at it, for my own stuff I want something that works without much drama or intervention.
Same here. I'm a technician and I'm completely capable of using Android, Linux and windows. But there are just too much "bs" in those OS and I don't want to fix my own shit. But with Apple, everything just works so well together and it rarely ever piss me off for lagging. Plus it's almost a guarantee that the Apple product will have great quality and will last a couple years without breaking down.
Juan Pablo Munoz swap soon please! Their greed is getting worse by the year! That iPad pro stylus! Those airpods. A MacBook pro that costs an arm and a leg but does not offer more than a mid-range GPU at best? Don't get me started on the iPhone!
Hits you hard when he says "try to peek over the wall before it's too late" iPhone + iPad + iMac + MacBook Pro + Apple TV + Apple Watch WEEWOO!!!! IT'S TOO LATE
Really liked this video a lot, honestly didn't think any one would "go there". I was heavy into the Apple ecosystem. iPhone, Mac Pro (Final Cut - Aperture) Apple TV and Apple Watch. Then I bought a Samsung Note, loved it but had lag, back to iPhone for iMessage and lag free phone, then bought the iPhone X, crazy more lag than the Note 8, bought a Pixel 2 XL "Wow". Decided time to buy a PC (was impressed with Windows 10, not the horrible system I once thought it was, I actually like it more now than Mac OS). I broke free from Apple prison and it wasn't hard, all I have now from Apple is the Apple TV and I like it a lot. Oh I did buy an iPhone 8 plus recently due to friends asking me to get back on iMessage so they could have me in group chats for iMessage to be blue for sending HD video ets (could not handle the tiny screen on the iPhone X, why I went back to the 8 Plus) and by this time I had already broken free and was using Google drive on the iPhone, for calendar, contacts etc I was only importing and using my Google account. I finally decided it was not worth having iMessage for the only reason to stay with a phone that didn't have the abilities the Google phone had as I was using all Google apps on my iPhone so what was the point, I was still within my warranty return time so I thought, yep, iMessage not enough to hold me as I had broken all other ties already and that was the last one. Took that phone back and put my SIM back into my Pixel. I feel like I left that beautiful prison you described so thoughtfully. Now im back to having some automation like saying "Hey google turn the temp in my home down to 72 degrees" can't do that with an iPhone, for some reason everything I bought does not work with Apple. Not my Nest (using the voice) my 4k TV, my receiver, PC all appear automatically in "Cast" on android. None of that works on Apple out of the box without downloading several apps and even then it's not as functional or easy. I love how well Google works with everything, no real walls at all, every manufacture just talks with it.
I agree, I was surprised by how easy it was, I wasn't crazy about not having iMessage, but then I started using FB "Messenger" which is so much like iMessage, all the same features plus some others, and allowed for HD video in texts, video chat, and everything else one can't do on SMS MMS, to my surprise all my family and friends had Messenger so that made it easy. The biggest surprise was the huge gain in functionality, and how all my home devices connected seamlessly, I didn't expect this and I certainly had no idea all this great stuff was out there already. I actually gained so much more by leaving Apple, I thought it would be the opposite but it opened the door to so many other cool things. (I won't go into all of them too many, but one of the items was the VR on the PC and on the Pixel, so cool, made me wonder why Apple has none of this. I know they are in the infant stage if you purchase an iMac Pro for insane money, but you still have to buy an external Graphics card for the ports needed and still full functionality is not supported, crazy, it's like Apple is 5 years in the past and won't let anyone know that's how far behind they are)
Ummm... Google is not an "open" ecosystem. The SOURCE CODE for Android might be open source, but so what. No one is rewriting the phone operating system. Everyone is using the same software on all cellphones, Android or iPhone. Yes, you can customize your EXPERIENCE on Android much more than on iPhone. But that is just a feature. That has nothing to do with the openness (or closed-ness) of the ecosystem.
In all honesty, I completely accept it someone says they choose iPhone because of the Apple ecosystem. Because once you over pay for most of their products, you honestly do get an unmatched level of fluidity when you use all of their products.
Amazing to see a man as open minded and unbiased as you bro! If only fanboys of both sides could get their heads out of their asses and look at things from a bird's eye view. Great video! And I'd like to hear from the 800+ that gave this a thumbs down.... What do they think?
In spite of being an android "ecosystem" user, I can fully understand how people get so immersed in the apple ecosystem. However, I cannot understand the blind fanboyism or cult like addiction to their products. I believe it is counter productive to technological progress. Great video Marques.
I've been building and repairing PC's for 18 years and repairing mobile devices for about 6. From all the digitizer's and other parts I've repaired/replaced for customers' mobile devices, the Apple products make me SMH. Whenever I tear into one, it truly blows my mind how fragile everything is compared to the other companies out there. One part in particular are the ribbon cables and connectors that connect the screen components to the logic board. When I pull apart other phones, the cables are way ahead in terms of strength and are better engineered in the way they are routed. The Apple cables bend a couple different ways putting stress on them and on some of the iPhones, rather than designing the cable to lay nice and flat as one cable, they place solder points on two cables and pretty much pancake them together. I've seen several just "un-stick" from each other and become useless. The screens are extremely easy to replace compared to other phones, but if you have to transfer parts from the current screen to the donor, you can easily find yourself purchasing new cables because they are so fragile and can break easily during transfer. This is one of many reasons I cannot bother with owning an iPhone. From a user perspective, the phone is a great phone and has many great features and because of that I understand why so many people like them. From a tech's perspective, they are not worth the money. If anyone gave me an iPhone, I would turn around and sell it immediately.
I have never owned a single Apple product ever and I'm happy I never did. Not only that they are over-priced, they are intentionally made to not work with other operating systems. Apple has some of the sickest and shady tactics to sell more products. Their accessories are of low quality so that they break just before they have launched a new iPhone, and you are forced into thinking - "why to buy a broken charging cord when I'll get "free" charger with iPhoneX"? You can't buy an older version of iPhone at a cheaper price simply because they have made the software of all the older version slower once they have launched a new iPhone. WTF is that? It's so sick and disgusting, buying an Apple product is like supporting such practices. I'm happy with my samsung phones because they run on Android and nothing can beat a well built Windows Pc in performance.
They probably built it that way on purpose to make a quick buck. Ribbon broken? Need to buy a new phone/ribbon. Screen broken? Sure, we can easily replace those fragile screens for new fragile ones!
I agree. Most people i know just buy air pods or apple watch not because they need it but because its trendy. As an guy immersed in eco system with my mac, iphone n ipad i hate those shits. Like iphone on its own with a windows laptop is extremely shitty. you need a mac to unlock its full potential, not apple watch because its trendy!
eh. this is a pretty good summary, but it makes it sound like most people can't stop using iphones because they're trapped in the ecosystem. that's half the story. the other half is that most apple users are VERY happy with the performance and lifespan of their all apple crap, so they stick with the brand. i jumped on the htc thunderbolt, galaxy s4, nexus 4, and htc one m8, in that order. i finally got tired of all my smartphones becoming laggy, glitchy pieces of junk after their 1st year of use. so i left android behind for an iphone 6 and i've never looked back. never had to look back, because they hold up so damn well as they age. the android ecosystem is cutting edge, but it's too fast-paced to be reliable. one day i would be playing with NFC or geeking over all the things i could customize, and the next day i'd be wondering why the hell is the browser app running on high in the background and draining 40% of my battery while i'm in class. my family burned through mid-range windows laptops like crazy. bluescreens, cheap construction, quickly deteriorating battery life, lag lag lag with age, and etc. my first 2011 macbook air ran smoothly 5 years in, before i decided to sell it for half of what i originally bought it for. same goes for my current macbook pro. my parents kept accidentally infecting their budget desktops with malware, so i bought them an ancient 2009 macbook pro for
I agree that for the general consumer (who is usually uninformed on tech) apple is a safe choice, such as the case with your parents. The issue with android/windows imo is that there is a lot of junk out there but there are also a lot of great devices if you know what you're looking for. I like the competitive market of android/windows and hate the monopolization of apple. You made some generalizations on android/windows products, but if you're a responsible tech owner you can get a better experience out of them assuming you pick a good one. I have a 2016 $500 oneplus 3T and a 2012 thinkpad x230 that i bought for $200 which both kick ass with all my day to day activities. Not ideal for artistic stuff maybe, but im in engineering school and run very computationally expensive CAD and coding programs simultaneously. Never gotten hacked/experienced lag over time/bugs (knock on wood). That being said if you don't know anything about tech and can afford it, apple is probably the way to go. Im jealous of imessage a little but not that much it's not worth it for me.
+Nadia Razick i disagree a bit. the average consumer, who you say is usually uninformed on tech, is equally as uninformed about android phones as they are about apple phones. and if i could extend that further, i've noticed android fans who DO stay informed about tech usually don't know much about how the tech actually works or how it's engineered. which is why you can go on the internet and find a bunch of fanboys screaming in the comments about how awesome 6gbs of RAM and 4000 mAh of battery is, but then still find all these NASA engineers, JPL engineers, Google engineers, all my old aerospace professors, etc etc etc (people who i'd bet know a lot about tech, and who are actually familiar with engineering design and acknowledge the existence of software optimization) that carry iphones and macbooks and ipads. and yeah, i'm in engineering too. when i was in undergrad, i even i saved up for a surface pro 3 so i could take notes and run solidworks. it was great for a little while, but by sophomore year i realized the battery life on it was awful for my heavy schedule, and it clearly was unable to handle larger assemblies or FEA software from the bigger projects i was handling. so i went back to my macbook pro. installed windows on bootcamp and all the necessary apps. worked perfectly, as expected. i'm sure there are plenty of other great devices if you look hard enough, but that doesn't support the notion that apple makes poor products. if there's any chance you end up taking a design engineering course for your upper division technical electives, you'll likely get to learn about why Apple is considered an industry leader in product engineering.
small note : the whole ecosystem issue is only in america , the rest of the world we use whatsapp and many people i knew use iphones and they don't use imessage and use whatsapp instead
I was very late to any ecosystem. I had a mobile phone from a carrier I cannot even recall anymore. That's how old it was. Anyway, about 5 years ago I purchased my first iPhone and it has been wonderful ever since. Currently I have the newest iPhone, a Mac, Apple Music, Apple TV+ and looking to upgrade to a new Mac next fall. So much fun!
Great explanation If I explained this i'd be like *Apple works good with other apples and uhhhhhh it's kinda hard to switch uhhhhhh and to get used to everything uhhhhhh*
Yeah, but files and docs in all devices sync seamlessly and I guess that’s so important to me cuz of work and other activities. I guess if you have money to burn, it’s worth it. But I love my galaxy s9 plus more than my iPhone X

Lang Meng yeah.. Sony have problem with their different department fight each other and could not corporate together, or else with their music, phone, mp3, tv and PlayStation and etc, their ecosystem would be perfect
the problem is they don't really consider outsider opinion, when it come out in market then they start to build it in their own version (whatever that things is) which means that is equal TOO DAMN LATE, they don't really have inovation since walkman
@@dadadididododede1557 They havent innovated since walkman? My guy lol do some research. please lol. Absolutely needed this video. Just switched from Android (Pixel 2) to iPhone (12 Pro), since I wanted to switch and wanted to try out the competition for a few years. Since I plan on switching back maybe, my current rule is “Never Buy Into The Product Ecosystem”
Good choice. Being in the Google Ecosystem is alot better imo because you have so much more flexibility and Google even encourages it. Also I have loved Vanilla Android so much. Had the Nexus 6, Pixel XL and now the Pixel 2 XL love all of them.
Yeah, they make them work so good, but only with apple products. If you're in the ecosystem, then you're stuck. The ecosystem is a scam, and if you think all buisinesses should prevent you from using other people's products, then you're crazy. I wouln't hate on apple if they made all their shit compatible with android and vice versa.
jesper nytun it’s not a bad idea. It’s what drives their sales up, and companies are free to do what they want with their devices. Don’t like it? Simply don’t buy it.
@@octavianschaefer7294 I agree, an ecosystem is awesome. What I don't like is how their products aren't compatible with non apple products. Why can't you use the same chargers, or transfer your data to a new phone. You're trapped once you get too many products. And I'll yeah, I agree that I don't need to buy their products, and that's why I don't have any.
jesper nytun have you ever used an apple product? I still have contacts in my phone from years ago. How are you not able to transfer your data? It’s probably the easiest thing to do with an iPhone. Really interesting video. I used to work in chain pharmacy and they always talked about touchpoints - the more you have the harder for your customer to leave. Give your customer a loyalty program, fill their scripts for them, process their photos for them and the list goes on. If that customer then wants to go elsewhere there has to be a huge list of pros that outweigh not only the cons of the current system but also the pains of swapping companies. Really good analysis and application of this to Apple.
iTunes was my introduction to the Apple Ecosystem. Naturally after Lime Wire showed me what a digital music library looked like. iTunes came along and allowed me to upload all the CD’s I bought over the years onto my HP Laptop without carrying around the CD’s on College Campus. And I did have a desktop iMac that’s probably in storage or something. But I didn’t use that until I got my first apartment in the city after college. Even then, by that time. The iPad mini had just came out and I used that more. But back to iTunes? The iPod is what did it for me. Imagine going to the studio recording a song. Upload it to iTunes and sync it to my iPod. Go to a club and perform it. The DJ likes it. You hand him your iPod and let him hear your other songs at random clubs around 2005 when BMF was at their height and Jeezy was everywhere and I still got a little buzz. Man. The iPod changed my life. I literally was about to get a 100 disc changer in my car, but bought a tape adapter to connect my iPod to my car. Which, fast forward, my next car in 2011 had an iPod connecter. It was all about the music for me. If it wasn’t for the iPod. I wouldn’t have an iPhone today. I wouldn’t have eventually got my first MacBook Pro in 2013, which my iMac was 2001/2002. Maybe earlier. All I know is even with an iMac. I still bought an HP Laptop because I always wanted one. And now. I only use my Dell for work. Personal life is iPad Pro, iPhone, HomePods, AirTags, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch, and I think that’s it. No plans to get the Vision Pro, but I’m not against it. I just don’t care for virtual nothing. I‘m not for the floating apps and wearing something on my face for extended periods of times. But! There’s people around me who want it in my household. So, we shall see if I end up with one by default. I doubt it. Might be cool to have on a flight across country though. Watch the new Marvel flick or something.

I'm tied to Google feed, Gmail, maps, chrome, calendar, keep, tasks, UA-cam, duo, photos & home. Love stock android phones, so I stick to them and my life revolves around these Google services. *"Ecosystem"*
yes, they are. EG...google photos on your phone will have the same pics as google photos on a laptop. same with calendar, duo, chrome, maps, etc etc. Very similar to apple but without the walls since you can have it be the same using Apple devices
how do you think apple is able to sync all the data between devices "the cloud". Google uses the same design ques between all of its services like apple etc, difference is apple doesnt allow you to use their "ecosystem" on other deicvices other than apple, except a few exceptions (apple music). while google allows any device to use its services.

My current phone is the Samsung Note Ultra 20 5G and occasionally pop my sim in the Pixel 4XL because it has, by far, the best camera of all of my devices. All Apple iPhone displays are manufactured by Samsung. Wall or no wall, Samsung is enjoying the show.

You're so right. This kinda reminds me of Bill Gates. He and his partners created great software back when Windows was born, which consumers flocked to. That same software had to eventually be updated with newer versions, which we happily paid for. THAT made Mr Gates very rich, very fast. Today, Bill Gates is aging nicely and his bank account is bottomless.

Juan Pablo Munoz that's been a problem for Apple. Also they did not invent most of these products. They stole the idea and ran with it. "Ecosystem"
Juan Pablo Munoz start by getting an android (I recommend pixel, note or s series) and go from there. Then do the rest. That's how I left it ;)
Juan Pablo Munoz swap soon please! Their greed is getting worse by the year! That iPad pro stylus! Those airpods. A MacBook pro that costs an arm and a leg but does not offer more than a mid-range GPU at best? Don't get me started on the iPhone!

It really isn't hard, but people are stubborn, and will stick with it anyway unfortunately.
Do you wake up knowing you’re an idiot?

Don Morelock Now this is a great comment.
Short answer - It’s a CLOSED ecosystem.
Pulkit Meena absolutely true ( i love opensource ecosystem like Android ) ^_^

Some people dont want an open ecosystem. Whoda thunk?
Pulkit Meena AND a very good ecosystem

In spite of being an android "ecosystem" user, I can fully understand how people get so immersed in the apple ecosystem. However, I cannot understand the blind fanboyism or cult like addiction to their products. I believe it is counter productive to technological progress. Great video Marques.
Like the way 9/10 of these comments are calling Apple user stupid??? What do you call those people?
I like the arrangement on your table looks simple and classy.
I love the way you articulate your reviews. No one else does it the same way. It just authentically flows out of you.
eh. this is a pretty good summary, but it makes it sound like most people can't stop using iphones because they're trapped in the ecosystem. that's half the story. the other half is that most apple users are VERY happy with the performance and lifespan of their all apple crap, so they stick with the brand.
i jumped on the htc thunderbolt, galaxy s4, nexus 4, and htc one m8, in that order. i finally got tired of all my smartphones becoming laggy, glitchy pieces of junk after their 1st year of use. so i left android behind for an iphone 6 and i've never looked back. never had to look back, because they hold up so damn well as they age. the android ecosystem is cutting edge, but it's too fast-paced to be reliable. one day i would be playing with NFC or geeking over all the things i could customize, and the next day i'd be wondering why the hell is the browser app running on high in the background and draining 40% of my battery while i'm in class.
my family burned through mid-range windows laptops like crazy. bluescreens, cheap construction, quickly deteriorating battery life, lag lag lag with age, and etc. my first 2011 macbook air ran smoothly 5 years in, before i decided to sell it for half of what i originally bought it for. same goes for my current macbook pro. my parents kept accidentally infecting their budget desktops with malware, so i bought them an ancient 2009 macbook pro for
holycrapitsjake extremely well put
The Windows products I used wouldn’t last. I got tired of replacing laptops every 3 years. Apple products do last a long time.
holycrapitsjake
I wish i could tell what you said to every close-minded Android user that thinks Apple users are inferior for using Apple devices.
+Nadia Razick
i disagree a bit. the average consumer, who you say is usually uninformed on tech, is equally as uninformed about android phones as they are about apple phones.
and if i could extend that further, i've noticed android fans who DO stay informed about tech usually don't know much about how the tech actually works or how it's engineered. which is why you can go on the internet and find a bunch of fanboys screaming in the comments about how awesome 6gbs of RAM and 4000 mAh of battery is, but then still find all these NASA engineers, JPL engineers, Google engineers, all my old aerospace professors, etc etc etc (people who i'd bet know a lot about tech, and who are actually familiar with engineering design and acknowledge the existence of software optimization) that carry iphones and macbooks and ipads.
and yeah, i'm in engineering too. when i was in undergrad, i even i saved up for a surface pro 3 so i could take notes and run solidworks. it was great for a little while, but by sophomore year i realized the battery life on it was awful for my heavy schedule, and it clearly was unable to handle larger assemblies or FEA software from the bigger projects i was handling. so i went back to my macbook pro. installed windows on bootcamp and all the necessary apps. worked perfectly, as expected.
i'm sure there are plenty of other great devices if you look hard enough, but that doesn't support the notion that apple makes poor products. if there's any chance you end up taking a design engineering course for your upper division technical electives, you'll likely get to learn about why Apple is considered an industry leader in product engineering.
small note : the whole ecosystem issue is only in america , the rest of the world we use whatsapp and many people i knew use iphones and they don't use imessage and use whatsapp instead

I was very late to any ecosystem. I had a mobile phone from a carrier I cannot even recall anymore. That's how old it was.
Anyway, about 5 years ago I purchased my first iPhone and it has been wonderful ever since. Currently I have the newest
iPhone, a Mac, Apple Music, Apple TV+ and looking to upgrade to a new Mac next fall. So much fun!
Great explanation
If I explained this i'd be like
*Apple works good with other apples and uhhhhhh it's kinda hard to switch uhhhhhh and to get used to everything uhhhhhh*
Poseidon X gof ok let’s ridicule others for liking other stuff
Poseidon X gof so true! I couldn’t make a video like this.
@@18tn he's not ridiculing anyone.... 😂
Yeah, but files and docs in all devices sync seamlessly and I guess that’s so important to me cuz of work and other activities. I guess if you have money to burn, it’s worth it. But I love my galaxy s9 plus more than my iPhone X
Lmao you do understand he's saying theres nothing special or cool about apple pretty much calling apple users delusional
I love how he said better battery life twice
Sarowar Ahmed As well as holding up a better phone.
It's just that good. 😂
He said better battery and battery life, which are arguably different
yeah better battery as in not having shutdowns at 30% after a year or 2 and having to down-clock the processor to fix it
That's what i was thinking after i commented lmao

daaaaamn. my tinfoil hat burns!
Somebody explain this to me please!
Referencing the biblical story in Genesis. Eve eats the forbidden fruit while they are inside the beautiful garden of eden. Only thing God said not to do. Just an observation of a possible connection. Hah

I am always thinking if Sony know this thing 10 years ago, there probably won’t have any other tech company.
Lang Meng yeah.. Sony have problem with their different department fight each other and could not corporate together, or else with their music, phone, mp3, tv and PlayStation and etc, their ecosystem would be perfect
@@Ipsvsong yeah sadly
the problem is they don't really consider outsider opinion, when it come out in market then they start to build it in their own version (whatever that things is) which means that is equal TOO DAMN LATE, they don't really have inovation since walkman
PSP hardware and software system was way ahead of its time.
@@dadadididododede1557 They havent innovated since walkman? My guy lol do some research. please lol. Sony pretty much pioneered modern gaming (online gaming), VR, AR, Blu-Ray and 4k Blu-Ray, 4k cameras, they're pretty much the universal phone camera sensor supplier right now. They made the first 4k tv, the first tv with a speaker in the screen. I can go on for DAYS. Right now they make the best wireless NC headphones and earbuds, one of the best TV's, the best game console, the best point and shoot cameras, some of the best games. They were the first waterproof flagship phones, one of the first to have a fingerprint scanner, as well as one of the first smartwatches. Please dont say crazy shit like that lol.

I am in crazy deep, I even have all my movies purchased in the Apple Ecosystem, music as well, worked on the office suite for 5 years......it would cost me HUGE money to leave Apple. I guess I am in for life.
Absolutely needed this video. Just switched from Android (Pixel 2) to iPhone (12 Pro), since I wanted to switch and wanted to try out the competition for a few years. Since I plan on switching back maybe, my current rule is “Never Buy Into The Product Ecosystem”
Or just make sure you have yourself a way out. Backup files to other drives, clouds, etc.

I was deep in the Apple ecosystem until last week when I switched to Pixel 2 XL. Really happy with my life beyond the wall so far 😂
MoviegoerPageTH same here, I like androids flexibility with its software and customization.
Same! Got the Pixel 2 and I've been loving it
One week
Good choice. Being in the Google Ecosystem is alot better imo because you have so much more flexibility and Google even encourages it.
Also I have loved Vanilla Android so much. Had the Nexus 6, Pixel XL and now the Pixel 2 XL love all of them.
MoviegoerPageTH If you only changed 1 device then you weren’t deep into any ecosystem. Smh.
That’s the job of a tech company .to make products that work easily for consumers. I think Apple found the formula .its ecosystem just works
The only thing I can’t use the same charger for is my iMac, and MacBook and recently the new iPad. But with the new usb c to lightning cable I can charge my phone with my iPad. I really don’t know where ppl get this crap from where you can’t do anything with anything other than an apple product. It’s really funny and crazy all at the same time cuz my apple shit is usually what makes my other shit better. So really? What in the hell are u talking about?
@@jordanhearvey7744 Yes, you can transfer contacts and data from an iPhone to an iphone. But what about iPhone to Android? Lost all of my data on my Ipad when i tred to get it over to my new surface some years ago. Next time read the comment. When did i ssy you cant transfer data from ios to to ios
best tech reviews EVER. And tech reviews aren't even something I watch regularly, only when new phones or tech coming out or I'm getting a new phone and I need to see what its all about.

Isn't frustrating that Windows 10 PCs are dead?
No proper app updates! Look facebook app! It's pity!
Mr. Gentleman who the hell uses the facebook app anyway? Why are you using the windows store apps anyways? Windows 10 is not dead, if you think that way it's probably not meant for you
To be honest, the best operating system by far is WINDOWS 7!
Windows 10 is good, but good is not enough!
Mr. Gentleman
Windows 10 works with more software it's faster it's crashes less the standard browser is edge and not iexplore you can choose to download apps it has more easy to access customization options
I can't really see why windows 7 would be better
Mr Tobias Boss,
I agree with you! There is evolution! But, windows 7 was more friendly to me... or I think so. That's my opinion.

Fabian Thompson but..all those apps are accessible outside "android ecosystem".
Compare to apple product like mentioned in this vid (final cut pro) only accessible for mac.
