Adding gelatin to chicken for catfish bait and why it does work,
When you add gelatin to chicken it makes the outside of the chicken get a hard coating causing it to stay on the hook longer, but more importantly it adds amino acids to the chicken, if you compare the amino acid profile of gelatin to the amino acid profile of a bluegill you will notice that the percentages of amino acids may be higher or lower but they do have the same amino acids... when adding gelatin to chicken you're not only making it hold on the hook but you're trying to boost the amino acid profile to match the same levels or get them higher than what the catfish are currently feeding on...
It's not the cherry flavor or the red color or the fact it hold on the hook better... it's all about amino acids
Amino acids present in gelatin are variable, due to varying sources and batches, but are approximately
Glycine 21%
Proline 12%
Hydroxyproline 12%
Glutamic acid 10%
Alanine 9%
Arginine 8%
Aspartic acid 6%

My "GO TO" Catfish bait is Chicken Breasts.
It stays on the hook pretty well, and catfish seem to be attracted to it!

Did you let the chicken go bad before you used it? I let mine sit out a couple days and put garlic salt on it. Still lind of early in the season i guess. Didn't get any bites but other fish tore it apart

Very great video. I use shrimp and don’t catch a thing on it other than turtles or gar. So it’s change up time. Looks like you are using a Carolina rig with a slider sinker. I noticed the weight is pointed vs a no roll. Do you find it works better for where you are fishing? Do you use Kahle or circle hooks? I am having no luck with circle hooks at the moment. Really needing to get my catfish game going. I need a fix.
It's called a pyramid sinker. Those are really good for sticking in the bottom
Circle hooks are really hood for catfish because the hook set themselves. You dont have to set them and the best know is a knot less Snell!.
It's only one way to use bait that's to put it on the hook.
