The 69A Commer 30 CWT Nestlé's Van was introduced in 1959 and continued on in production until 1965. It is a very pretty little casting, particularly in the earlier maroon shade teamed with the dark yellow Nestlé branding. It is a shame it is advertising what is now a shady conglomerate, but the 1950s was a far more innocent time!
It is the first of three Commer BF-based vans in the Matchbox series. It was followed by the 47B Ice Cream Canteen in 1963 and the 62B Rentaset van later the same year. The BF was a 1.5 ton (30 CWT - hundredweight - hence the model name) light or medium duty van in production by the Rootes Group between 1957 and 1966. It was also sold under the Karrier marque.
One of the best features of this particular casting is the opening sliding door on the right hand side. Not only was the door missing on mine but the base had been flipped upside down as well. The base connects to the body via a rear tongue and slot fitment, and a spread rivet to the front which is easily manipulated. All that aside, it was also pretty lacking in the paint department.

The genius of vintage Matchbox models is their simplicity yet fine details.
Very nicely done.
love the colour, not too bright and deep and rich. :) that sliding door fits nicely indeed. :)
I had no clue about the wheel variations. I'll try and take a closer look next time I go hunting for castings. ^^
Lovely restoration Jason, super paint colour too, I love these early castings without glass 🤩🥇🌟
I always enjoy your detailed explanation of each model’s background! Excellent work as usual!
Beautiful restoration! The whole van looks just great. Thanks for sharing this.
Very terrific rescue, and we always appreciate the in-depth histories!
Nice restoration, details and paint job 👌 👍
Nice one Jason. SWEET little resto job. Colour match is spot on.
Keep er lit ya boy ye
That a very nice rich burgundy colour l. The chrome on the rear bumpers added a highlight to what would've been a very plain look on such a dark colour model.
Superb job, Jason. One more fantastic job!!
And here in the States we pronounce it Ness-lees. So many ways to say it! I can’t keep track. Nice job on that one. Definitely looks better with the chassis flipped.
Beautiful restoration Jason.
I love how you give a history on each of the restoration subjects, class and well spoken.
Tommy in Dublin👍🌞

Awesome restoration and a fine result. I would like to see this old models with today standart interieurs. and windows😃.
Great Job, a triple this one👍👍👍 😄
great resto
Very nice work👍👍👍
wonderful resto mate love it well done xxxxxx
The driver's door is flat and has a barely discernible inwards taper. The off-side door carries through the slight bulge along the waist line of the body. This little model is one of Lesney's most appealing commercial vehicles and it's great Jason traced the make through to reveal what followed. In the 1950s & 60s no one could have foreseen the treasures these toys would become - let alone restoring them with skill and care - the way Jason and others do now. Every one is a little phoenix.
Great job 👍
Fantastic job you could put it back into a box and sell it as new .
Excellent
Bonito trabajo de pintura!👋🇪🇦
While I knew that Nestle’s had it’s share of controversy, I didn’t know about it’s broad range of products.
As for this van, it’d been great if you gave it glass and an interior….
Next time, perhaps ?
Looks great! I did not know the U.K. ties to the company.
very very nice🙂😊😃
ando en busca de ese camioncito👍
