looks great again. :) nice and shiny, and the paintcoat is way better than the original, as Schuco "forgot" to paint the underside egdes of the bodies towards the end. I found that out when I caught a practically-mint Schirocco at the flea market, and these parts were still shiny metal... (they also asked only two deutschmarks for it, I don't think I have paid something faster before and after, lest they rethink their "ooh, it's expensive I'm afraid" remark... XD) if you like I can try and find more of these next time at the flea market. most you can find here are VW beetles and buses/vans, they often were used to promote things. for those curious, the 1:66 models with actual license plates (N for Nuremberg) also had 1:43 counterparts. so, not all small models were redone in larger scale by far, most were just VW/Audi and Mercedes, which also were sold at the respective dealerships as promo toys. they can be surprisingly cheap, but always look for complete models; there is no replacement parts market yet.
Thank you once again for sending over this model to me! When I get a moment I will email you a (short) list of the models I do have so if you spot any others on your travels I’d love if you could get them for me!
Let me add that towards the end, Schuco "forgot" to paint the underside edges of the bodies, and of course there the naked metal would corrode first... who woulda'thunk they made their models THAT realistic? XD
Lovely job Jason there are some great schuco VW castings out there to tackle I seem to recall they did a Passat. I have a rei beetle in my collection as well but they are hard to find.
As i was a child, i had a lot of these 1/66 Schuco's, love them. 😍 Sometimes i find some at a Fleamarket and restore/customize them, they are a nice addition to my 1/64 Scale Collection. And sorry for my bad english. 🙂
Very nice done. My first car was a yellow scirocco and it was great fun to drive. The not so fun was the corrosion problem all over. I shifted the doors, the left and right side front panels + hood. I had it painted in black with gold trim line on side and then the motor broke down. Good memories. I would like to see more Schuco restorations.
Well done. 👍 Have this Scirocco too, in comparison to a 1/64 Greenlight VW Golf/Rabbit or a Schuco Edition 64 VW Golf, i would say, the scale is more near to 1/64 than 1/66. Greetings from Germany. 😃
Hello mate, another great job. Could you recommend a current available floor polish please to dip the windows please. I'm having difficulty finding the ones people are using.

@@DieCastRestos will do. :) can't beat the excitement of the hunt. :)
Well done you made the model better than the actual car 🚗 😅.

👍 Thx 🇧🇪.
The restoration looks great! Fixing the wheel axles did a lot to improve the look of the model. Thanks for sharing this.
Superb restoration Jason, you have really made beautiful again.

Lovely job - be great to see another Schuco get restored. They did a nice gull wing Mercedes C111 that could be worth finding? 🤔
I may have already found one… 👀 watch this space!
@@DieCastRestos look forward to seeing the results 👍
SCHUCO. Super. Schnll. Restoration V W. Scirocco

Pledge wood floor polish is a good alternative - that’s a clear solution
Where do you get the caustic soda pearls?, have never tried them.
I buy on eBay usually
Even tho it's not a Schuco, and is fairly recent, have you considered customizing a Subaru SVX from Matchbox?
Perhaps I will do in time. I think there’s plenty of potential with that casting
🤗👍👌💯
