hey question...i would put the ferrule on first and line it up with the spine of the rod and then put the foregrip on then guides etc. looks like you might have done the reverse. any reason on doing the ferrule last?
@@NaiDiGuy - great question and I always add the ferrule last. This makes sure I have the ferrule lined up correctly with the guides. Easier to do it that way. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Great video ❤ I have very old rod made in USA you don’t see them anymore by company called Montague and it’s rated 110-140lb I am trying to rebuild it and will be my first rod wrapped after watching a lot of UA-cams my question is how and where I can find one piece fit inside the reel seat like reel butt thanks if you have email I can send you pic
How big of a gap are you still using the mesh. I did this on my last bit rod. I am working on one now where the rod is .69” and using a #2 .873 ferrule Thinking I might need a more robust spacer (plastic or aluminum)?
@@the_pope_clan2408 - mesh tape will do the trick, but I like to use ferrules that are closer in diameter to the rod but for that reason. Thank you for watching.
@@reelbluecustomrods yeah I know. This was not my plan. But I wanted a smaller diameter rod for a 30-50 class reel. The #1 would have been better. But does not fit a 50w. Thanks for the info.
Hey Chris, I did not. The ferrule groove runs horizontal not vertical. Meaning when you install it on the blank the guides are up pointing to the sky and the ferrule groove should be horizontal or level. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Been wanting to see this video, thank you for the great content! You’ve taught me a lot and I’m a better builder because of it!
Thank you very much RC and glad that you have found all of my videos useful. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the support.
I am a fan, looking forward to more videos.
Thank you

Do you have a video of the order of a rod build? I’m making a shark rod with uni but. And a roller tip. My guess would be guides, tip, grip, uni but?
Everyone has their own process, but I would do foregrip, guides, roller tip top, unibutt.
Great video John. My question is does the notch at the bottom of the ferrule have to be oriented to the uni butt? Thsnks
Yes it does ReelTime, and it should be horizontal if you are looking at it from behind. Thank you for watching and commenting.

Can you send me a picture at info@reelbluecustomrods.com
What length blanks would you consider for a unibutt. And what brand and models.
Horacio, it depends on what type of rod you are building, and the overall length you want.

@@the_pope_clan2408 - very welcome.
Do you have video on how to remove an existing ferrule from am old rod ??
I do not Yusuf, but that is a great idea. Thank you for watching and commenting.
From the looks of this install, I think the only way to remove it is to use a die grinder to cut both sides and split it off.
@@reelbluecustomrods
@@mikemascaro-noaafederal7453 - that’s about right. You would have to cut it off.
…. You forgot to line up the ferrule groove …. It needs to be oriented to the guides ….
