I raced that race ..... A back of the pack pro .... Been lapped by a couple hall of famers. It is a little surreal to look back and think I was on the track with icons Jeff Ward , Jeff Stanton , Ricky Johnson , johnny O'Mara , and Damon Bradshaw ....... Wow ! 👍 Damn ... I miss it . Getting old sucks !!!!
Awesome video! Thanks for posting! Takes me back to when I was a teenager and looked upon these men like they were Gods! Not knocking today's riders, Im sure theyre trying just as hard as these guys were , but this era just seems much more competitive and entertaining than what we're seeing in today's racing
Heather Majcherek thanks so much for posting all these up, 1990 was the year I left school and I worked all Easter to buy an '88 RM80 on which I started riding at more and more tracks here in the UK. Also read a lot of US moto magazines so familiar with most of the riders, it's great to see them battle each other throughout the season. Happy memories!!
Also the commentary on these is great, a lot of people (specially in Europe) don't know Jeff Ward was originally from Scotland. I sometimes wonder how things would have turned out if his family hadn't emigrated to the US, maybe he'd have ended up racing the MX GPs
Jeff Ward was 29 . 29 - 5 = 24 years of racing . 1990 . Got to see an exhibition race when Jeff Ward and Jeff Matiavich raced in the Aloha stadium with local riders . Jeff 1st and Jeff 2nd .
Real good race.I thought announcer was funny.I remember being at Kenworthy's in 1989.I bought a cheap hat and got Guy Cooper's autograph.Still have it! I also got a decent front tire that was a fence post protector! I had 1987 kx 125 works replica.Kind of a shitty bike but I raced it ! I'm still riding a KX 250 two stroke! It's a good one.
Yeh, I watched a few other races right before this one where he would totally mess up who the rider was and was STILL talking about him.. The wrong guy.. And wouldn't detect a pass that took place 30 seconds earlier and then BAM, " LOOK Bradshaw got around Stanton! " Dude, where the hell were you? That was 30 seconds ago showing the riders the entire time.. It was like he was lost to what was going on for a good deal of the race.. But not to take away from these older races.. I had them all on VHS and watched them live as much as possible.. Motoworld and anything else that I could see motocross or supercross on..
