Your doing well Glen, most guys spend years rebuilding “ classic “ cars, which is what Nigel is, & it’s so much more rewarding when you do it yourself, keep going & push through, you’ll be fine 👍
You'll find Glen that the Series gearbox is very simple albeit fiddly to re-build. Luckily yours being one of the last of them has improved Syncro's compared to earlier versions
Good luck with the work, I did a much less of a refurb of my Series 2 in 1969 and it was still going strong in 1978 when I regretfully sold it. Not much different to yours either.😶
I replaced the rear crank seal when I last had the engine out. Unfortunately I didn't get it back in perfectly straight and I missed the silicone grease so when I started the engine it pissed oil out into the bell housing and I had to take it all out and do it again. Good luck! 👍
Have you thought about cleaning up the springs while you have some down time , I've chamfered the ends of each springs and ground the top edge of each end spring so it doesn't wear the bottom of the spring above it , has made a difference , just a bit smoother ,,,
should of rebuild gearbox with quality bearings. if you have it that far apart. There is a bush for 2nd and third which craps itself. I think croker on youtube has a video on gearbox rebuild. It pays to get quality 1st and second sychro hub if the box was jumping out of gear. Anyone else can suggest something?
For someone who is not a qualified mechanic or fabricator, you are doing an excellent job. Punching well above your weight.
What a nice compliment!

It's amazing the masking tape stuck. I painted my van recently and masking and paper would just fall. So much swearing and grrrrs.

Here's hoping that's not the case with us! hahah

What paint did you use for the engine bud?
It was an engine enamel I bought online. Worked an absolute treat!
