That’s really good to hear Toyota stood behind their product, admitted responsibility and put it right, no questions asked. Good for them. Looking forward to seeing your new van next week and hearing about your new adventures. Good to hear you had a nice break in Singapore. Have a good week. Cheers 🍻
The big power setup and a whole desal plant on board was a game changer and means we can go off grid for longer in our dream van. Nek minnit new van. Can't keep up with youtubers anymore.
Guys what a great outcome and hats off to TOYOTA. We have a 200 with rear diff done by DMW that strengthens housing to increase load to 3t but internals remain as per OEM as they are usually rock solid! Keep on cruisin’!
Cheers. Ours is still a factory diff centre as well. It's only the housing that's aftermarket. Even the factory setup needs the diff lock engaged before removing the axles 👍
The whole of WA is stunningly beautiful. Kimberley’s, Pilbara , Gascoyne and Midwest and our Great southern. Please be aware that picking wild flowers in WA is illegal. We are one of the worlds few biodiversity hotspots and for all our sakes we need to keep it this way. You guys are in the amazing position of being able to be ambassadors for this! While it may only be one bunch of flowers, as you have previously mentioned in episodes with the amount of people in WA this adds up💐
Interesting, we haven't seen any signs or information about not picking wild flowers (other than in NPs). Do you have a link or any info you could share?
Same thing happened to us about 6 years ago. Toyota replaced the diff centre on ours too. How is the housing? Our housing was damaged from it as we were on heavily corrugated roads, so the dog ring (collar) was bouncing a lot inside the housing. Its in the Toyota procedure to engage the locker when removing the axels, and there should be a sticker there as part of the JMACX kit. However Toyota did it a second time to us but I checked straight away and had them fix it before any damage occurred. Now days, I just do my own bearings as I got sick of mechanics not engaging the locker to remove the axels. I just wanted to let you know this because it will happen again if you are not onto them about it. Just jack the rear of your car up after a bearing service, with wheels off the ground, and physically check the locker is engaged, to ensure that collar is still in place. Hope this helps. Cheers. Adam
So glad you got sorted with the diff problem - especially given the remote spot you were in! Looking forward to seeing the new caravan and intrigued by the Perth pickup location makes us think you’ve gone with Elross! Excited for the big reveal 😊
Had the exact same challenge with my 79 Jamcx rear diff. Toyota in Rocky didn’t engage the locker when they did the rear wheel bearings. Unlike you, I was told to bugger off because of the Jmacx rear housing.
Howdy, I've been following your adventures for a few years now. Glad to hear you got the diff all sorted. I'm really interested to see what you get next, your current van looks like a great layout, I am "researching" family caravans atm, and its good to see level headed families putting these beastly caravans through their paces. I'm from WA down south, so a little nervous jumping into a van built in the east. Take care and hope the new van meets your expectations. Cheers Shayne
@TheLifestylePioneers Really interested to hear your thoughts and feedback on the new hybrid family layout, compared to your previous full van, including weights, towing, living space, solar etc. I really like the composite construction, we are aiming for a composite family van around the 19', similar style layout as your previous Titanium van. I hadn't considered a hybrid only because I am 6'6" tall, so bed length is an issue.. looking forward to you guys putting the hybrid to the test, happy travels, cheers Shayne 🌄
With the install of the water tank I am inspired to ask for a hindsight evaluation of the desalination system you had on the now "old" caravan. I guess we will see if you install a similar system in the new caravan.
Be mindful of articulation and the water tank rubbing on your drive shaft. I’ve got the Brown Davis reserve tank in my 79, and it rubber a groove around 2mm around the drive shaft at the rear. Took the tank out and had the 90 deg edge bevelled 30mm up and under to stop it happening. Prior to that I had some rocks find there way up there and got caught and wouldn’t fall through. Also wore a groove. I lost around 2L of diesel capacity through the mod. Keep an ear out for the noise.
Glad your sorting out diff , done the gibb in august and rear crown wheel disintegrated ,4 weeks to get parts and fitted only to find front diff also had also catastrophic damage 10 weeks and still awaiting parts ,were in Kununurra atm
What a good outcome for you, guys. We’re looking forward to next week’s episode; we’re thinking Elross. We have been very impressed with their product for a while now, and we didn’t think a Bruder would be big enough for you both and your growing boys. Happy days ☺️
@@TheLifestylePioneers Fair enough. We think it’s related to their origins as site shed/accommodation builders The market is just flooded with new tech; 8 seem to get an ad for a different manufacturer with a new model every week. The new Titanium Hybrid looks good😉
Very interesting. I watched another UA-camr video only last week where they had diff probs in their Cruiser; and they said they’d just had it serviced with new wheel bearings at a Toyota dealer in NT and they failed to engage diff lock. It seems like a training deficiency problem currently at Toyota service centres.
Good infomercial. Wow. What a disaster. Lucky that Newman Toyota helped you. Could’ve said you’re on your own with your aftermarket diff housing. I’ll be keeping my standard diff for exactly this reason
Hi Guy's that looking fantastic could you send me some information on all new gear you just installed with the power and charger power pack Thank you Guy's injoy your Beautiful adventure and endless fun ps hope your staying with Titanium luxury off road caravan there the very best 👌
Good to hear you got the tow vehicle issues sorted. Would have been a concerning time especially that far outback of W.A. Can't keep up with why all the high profile youtubers keep changing their 'ultimate' caravan evey 1 or 2 years. Good on you if you can afford it but the reality is most of us can maybe only affford 1 or 2 new vans in our lifetime. It would be good if it you and other content creators, could explain the real reasons you change vans so often. Is it because you want too or are brand ambassadors that you have too.
Isn't it great when own their mistake & put it right. In business, I had a saying: "Your reputation is only as good as your last bad job." A new caravan??? I follow yoh & a couple of others who seem to replace caravans quite regularly. Is it because they wear out, or because you want something better? Cheers guys. Your episodes are great. 😊
Does not the desalination plant in you new (now defunct Van) not work??, as you were talking about increasing water capacity, I honesty can't keep up with you guys,
The desal works great and we used it extensively when we were on the coast. We don't use it when we're inland though and this tank is more for when we're away from the van.
The frustrating thing is that if Toyota had fixed the rear differential width issue, then none of that would have happened. Modified parts always introduce a potential extra failure point.
Yeah, we do. But we like the idea of having water with us in a tank all the time. The kids don't like having the bladder full at their feet all the time. We're still under GVM, etc with the upgrades we've done
Ah yes the ol influenza special warranty treatment. Toyota won’t warrant anyone else’s diff centres when you have an aftermarket housing or tune, but when you spit out mediocre content on the socials you get treated special
Thanks for your kind words. As I said in the video, Pilbara Toyota doesn't know we have a mediocre UA-cam channel, it was their stuff up and they fixed it.
Another YTber with new Van 😂 is it for content? It’s like trend here. Initially people used to keep their van for 2-3yrs before upgrading but now it’s like year. Im just curious. Surely its costly exercise doing every 12month. Something you wouldn’t do on car or house.
One of the first things Pro Touring told us was to source out a good 4x4 workshop or JMACX fitter to undertake all the servicing on the suspension. Toyota can do the rest. Glad to hear Toyota have supported you through this. Would be very stressful in the middle of knowhere
Unfortunately I can’t give you the Y.T. Site currently, they are experienced 4x4 over landers from W.A. , they were recently out near the Birdsville track in the middle of nowhere and one of the vehicles broke an axel and he was stuck big time, their is a tow truck company that will come to your rescue in a radius of many kilometres, they charge a fee of $500 as an excess amount akin to an insurance company to take the vehicle back to their HQ. You may never require it, but the guy stranded sure did, his mates all pitched in to get the car back to W.A. It cost more than $500 by the time they salvaged it.

Hey, Phil. Its from FME Store 👍
