This Vauxhall Vivaro, which is the same as the Renault Traffic, came to me with an issue with the turn signals...
So, the left hand side turn signal was always on, independent of the stalker position... the right hand side and hazard lights were inoperative due to the left hand side being constantly on.
The stalker assembly was already changed by another shop... so that was not the issue.. follow me on this video to find out what was the problem and how to resolve it.

Well done for sorting this! It’s interesting to see the process. I knew replacing power driver would not sort it ☺️ This is a common issue and of course the hazard control is coming in a separate input and will have its own decoupling cap. In the case of a persistent hazard warning event, What I have done in the past is wire a 504 bulb to the switch output and 12+. This forces a positive bias and counteracts the short to ground in the internal cap 🤪🤪

Treat yourself to an LCR-TC1 (or a LCR-H) from ebay. Brilliant for checking electronic components including esr on capacitors. Only £12 or so.
Good diagnosis. Understand the situation on parts; they take time to come. Fault finding is always iterative and you have to try different things so dont feel bad about not fixing by replacing the mosfet chip.

Wow thanks! Beautiful video. I have the same problem. Today I noticed those capacitors looked burnt (slightly darker color in the middle) I just thought them to be too insignificant to cause the problem. It seems I was wrong. You have done a really good job. You are so confident you make it look simple. It is not actually, but very heartwarming.

@@LMAutoRepairs 😭 Oh my god.. I just sprayed the board with a little bit of alcohol.. then dried with a paper towel and let it dry several minutes. Now the left flash light is off, but the immobilizer light stays off either.. no crank.. did I screwed something? Gosh, I mean, I was super careful..

Don't know what exactly happened, but I cleaned the whole board thoroughly, then cleaned the connectors and.. voila' It works! indicators are gone and immobilizer is back. The SMD caps under the black socket cause 90% of all UCH problems I encounter. For indicators stuck on there are also 2 SMD transistors in the middle of the board that can go short. Should have scoped the inputs to the driver IC to see the on/off pulses from the MCU. Driver IC only usually faulty when output is either dead or on solid.

Those capacitors are likely ESD protection, the size and lack of series resistance make me think feel that it's no low pass filter. A low pas filter would have needed a much higher capacity ( and you would never put a high value capacitor across a switch because of the resulting high current when them switch shorts the cap). Nice work and thanks for sharing!

Funny I got a 2004 vivaro and it has no indicators or hazards. If I unplugged the hazard switch on the old uch once I got the indicators working again, but not for long. Like an hour. Also central locking was slow as the locks engaged. Slow sliding across in the doors. Sliding door sometimes never locked. So yesterday I eeprom’d the data across and reset the new UCH which was from a donor vehicle via ebay. Locks work much better. Only hazards and indicators still dont work. Im wondering if the board has more than one power in and one is missing or something.

But is uses the module I believe it does, should be a silver small module, with fins for cooling purposes, and 2 plugs...
They are usually close to the battery, but might not be the case on that one... Just look for it...

Yes... most likely would require programming...
Haven't done it yet, so not sure if the Maxisys would do it... it does some configuration on Renaults, so might be possible that was capable of doing it...

Can you explain why the coupling capacitor make the turn signal work all the time thank you Louis
The cap goes short circuit and connects the line from the stalk to ground and the chip sees this as a legitimate trigger event for the indicator stalk.

My board is slightly different to this, its has separate capacitors underneath the black plug (7of them) do you know the rating that should be on there? Your video says 1.3 nf would a 1nf work if i ordered 7 of these?

You can... but too tricky... and multi pins chips, nearly impossible.... there is tricks you can use... just Google it...
Ultimately, you want to treat yourself with an hot air gun...😉

Hello. i have 2003 kangoo with uch that looks like this one. under black connector there is multiple capacitors that cannot be measured, but they are still in the circut. How did you figure out which pins are connected to stalk switch? in my case i would need to figure out which one are connected to hazzard lights switch, and door open switch. Do i just measure continuity from the switch to black connector in the vehicle?

@@LMAutoRepairs Thank you. sucessfully found pin 1, 2 carry door open signal (does not seem to be direct wire tho and no continuity unless sliding door open). Pins 22,27,36 connect to hazzard light switch.
Did not find fault and sadly had to assemble it since i dont have diagnostic skills for this sort of job.
Now door open light is not on all the time! BUT since i replaced no components i dont think it is repaired
Hi Brother, My vehicle is Megane 4 1.5 dci 2016 Model Sedan. "Check Auto High Beam" signal appeared on my vehicle. With the ELM 327 Wi-fi device, I read and deleted the DTC fault codes with the car scanner application while the vehicle's engine was running, but these 3 DTC fault codes were not deleted; Dashboard/Instrument Cluster (11 bit) U0182(87) Data bus lamps control module, front - no communication, BCM (11 bit) B15D8(87) and B1568(04) and "Check Auto High Beam" signal still appear on the screen. Do I need to clear the DTC signals with the ignition on and the engine off? What do you think is the fault) Is the UCH faulty? Does the UCH need to be reprogrammed? When it gets dark, the automatic dipped beams are activated, but the light sensor seems to be intact, but the automatic high-to-dipped beam function no longer works. This signal appeared when the vehicle's 12 V battery was close to exhaustion, I measured the battery and read 12.20 Volts with the engine off. I bought a new battery and changed it. But the signal was not deleted. 3 years ago, the car's radio sound was close to dead, and the windows could not be opened and closed, then when the battery was changed, these problems were normal, but now they still continue. The high beams work, the low beams work, they are solid, but there is no transition from high to low to high. It is outputting a fault signal. I'll be glad, if you help me.
The auto hight beams are controlled by a camera/sensor behind the rear view mirror...
You might need more than a elm327 to scan and analyse live data...
But f you say everything works apart from the automatic high beams, then I would say it is something related to that sensor...
Check powers and grounds and check live data...

I have a Vivaro 2006 and the indicator lights flashes quickly to the left and right side when i use the stalker.
But when i push the emergency light button everything flashes at normal speed. It’s the same thing when i plug in a trailer in the, the indicators flashes at normal speed.
Could it be the bcm???
The lights work and are replaced for the right watts.
It could....
But check bulb holders for cleaning... make sure they have a good contact....

I would suggest that your ECU soldering is on fault. The aluminium wire wich connects the ECU socket to the ECU main boar is broken.

My 2006 renault trafic.. when i press lock/unlock on the key or on the dashboard lock the indicators and cabin light etc all work as normal but the door lock mechanism doesnt engage (no lock sound, just a little clicking from the bcm module as it normally does).
I am wondering if this is caused from a fault from this control module? Just wondering if you had any knowledge of why no doors lock or unlock, van runs fine, key works fine etc

@@LMAutoRepairs Hey Sorry I forgot to say, all fuses checked (the ones in the passenger side), door mechanisms cleaned etc to see if they were sticking. It just randomly happened yesterday and still is the same today. Its so strange i took it to a local auto electrician today and his only way is to plug it into a computer and to manually get the locks to engage, and if they dont then will find out if it is the central locking module. But if it is that, and it is a capacitor or something gone I can solder this myself but just trying to find out what it could be without having it in a garage for days just looking in the wrong places. The auto electrician never heard of it, and im stumped at finding anyone else who has experienced it too!

It can be the relay for the central locking... my be activating but not closing the circuit...
I had that several times...
But without checking the system ect... it is difficult to say... you have to make all the checks!
Does the Vivaro have a relay for the indicators or a fuse as mine have stopped working including the hazards
A fuse most certainly... the relay, probably not... unless is an older model...
Without check the van, or diagrams, is difficult to tell...

The indicators on the model as per the video, are controlled by the body control module... with no external relays...

You start to test the outputs when your problem is clearly an input problem. You should start to test the inputs (that black plug).

The indicators on the right side of my fiat doblo weren't working,i traced fault to no output from the BCM to the right indicators from the indicator relay(which is soldered onto BCM circuit board).I bought a donor part of a bcm and all i did was replace two relays!!and now both side of my indicators don't work and,here's the best part,my keys are no longer recognised by the car???
Surely replacing two relays wouldn't affect the immobiliser??
Shouldn't do... but have you tested the relays before fitting them?

@@LMAutoRepairs I know how to test normal relays,but not 8 pin ones that solder onto circuit boards.So it is a possibility the used ones might be faulty,but the keys now not being recognised is weird!
Perhaps you changed some relay that is supposed to power other systems...

@@LMAutoRepairs Just discovered something on,during everything i've done the two front indicators have never worked.The outputs for the front indicators should be at pins 38 and 39 on the BSI,there are no pins at 38,39 on the bsi plug connection???
There should be 3 wires feeding right indicators,two pink ones and a green one,and two pink and white wires and one green and red one feeding the left indicators,i am missibg one pink for the right ones and one pink and white for the left ones???

LM Auto Repairs Hi, me again...I’m having trouble getting the black connection out of the UCh, there’s a lever with a push in button which I’ve pushed and pulls the lever over it but still can’t get the thing to move. I’ve got the white one off easily enough but the black one I’m struggling with. Any pointers there greatly appreciated.

Hi, wondering if you could help. My interior lights have never worked. I decided to have a look at the uhc. I found some parts with build up of corrosion material. I decided to clean with a tooth brush and contact cleaner. Put it back together and now my central locking is not working. The hazards flash like its locking but doesn't lock. Any help would be much appreciated. Great work btw 👏
