Yeah on labor day I made a couple pumpkin pies without the crust. A couple weeks ago I bought a pumpkin, because the ones in the can didn't have the strings. So I might make me a pie in a couple minutes myself. I got to try ur sweet potato pie recipe one day too though.😕🙂🤓😎🤠😏👍✌️👋👏💪🌾🍀🌿🍃🇺🇸

Hey AB My Grandmother used to make this pie... but she covered the bottom of the pie with mini marshmallows.. then the filling... as it baked the marshmallow would melt and bubble up through to the top... it was the best I've ever had!
Oohhh good idea! I usually make my sweet potatoes or yams with them toasted on top… but I’ll definitely try ya grandma’s style either on half a pie or a 2nd one
I think the food processor is essential for a sweet potato pie, because those blades will cut up all those strings and that way you'll have a nice, smooth, sweet potato pie.
My fav time of year for this reason only! My favorite pie. Been making since I was a teenager! Got the recipe from my auntie. I always taste before I add eggs tho!
Thank you for the holiday wishes and right back to you. I am lazy but I never compromise flavor. So, I peel my sweet potatoes and put them in a covered microwave Corelle-type dish, add 1 tbsp of water, and microwave for 5-6 minutes. When the potatoes are done I remove the dish and put my butter on top. I let it cool a bit so the eggs don’t cook. Next, add everything else, mix, pour, bake, eat too much, then take a nap. Thank you for all of the wonderful recipes!
Hey there. Love your southern cooking videos. I have an important tip for you all. Put bbq skewers or turkey stick (must be metal) through potatoes or anything that is thick to bake through completely. When baking, the skewers/picks will heat up to cook quicker. Do on bbq too for chicken parts etc. Have a blessed Thanksgiving. From Canada eh!😂
Hey Chef, I just finished making my sweet potato pies.🥰 GivingThanks to You Chef AB cause I’ve made them in the past but this by far is the Bestest recipe I’ve Ever made. I added a bit more vanilla but other than that I followed your recipe to the T!! I’ve also made your peach cobbler and it too is now my goto. I cannot Thankyou Enough For sharing your easy and simple recipes!!😋♥️🤗
Hi Brother, Well done on your grandma's sweet potatoe pie; quick and easy!!! You were right to the point even a beginner will have no problems following your steps...God bless you always in your desires to share your expertises on how to cook delicious meals...Amen, Amen, Amen!
I LOVE whipped cream on my pie but I make my own, mainly because it’s way cheaper and because I have a great Kitchen Aid mixer that whips it up perfectly.
This is my favorite time of year and I can always count on you for amazing cooking tips. My collards are top tier! Can’t wait to try this recipe and yes redi whip on sweet potato pie is delicious. My late Aunt Ethel’s sweet potato pie was nothing to play with. 😋
Terrific Thank-Full Thursday AB! Thanksgiving IS MY favorite time of year! The gift you give is yourself! Thank you for sharing the gifts that were given to you! Back to watching!! Enjoy your day!
AP, I love love your cooking, down home like your mom and grandma's cooking. I make mine the same way, the only difference is I use Marie Colander crust.
I am so glad you posted this recipe! I have been looking for a great sweet potato recipe, I have made your greens, green beans and potatoes and everyone loved them. Thank you for keeping it simple!
I absolutely love this time of year. However, it’s bittersweet without my Granny. I appreciate your recipes AB. I did one of your yams recipes a couple years ago and they were a hit either way my family!
I tried this recipe with some slight modifications (ready made pie crust in aluminum pan and extra 1/4 cup of sugar) and it was sooo good. Reminded me of my childhood when my granny and aunties made pies. I've always been so nervous to make this, but it perfect!!! Thanks AB! Even started following your channel. Can't wait to try other recipes.
Thanks so much for the food processor tip. This is the first time it's been super easy for me to make sweet potato pies. I wish I could send you a pic of what I was using but it belonged to my great- grandmother's. 😊
Nice looking pie. I usually add lemon extract, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of ginger and ground cloves add a nice touch. I also use heavy whipping cream and carnation evaporated milk. Brown or white sugar. Along with the eggs.
This looks great, AB. Pro tip: wrap the the fork poked potatoes in foil. They peel really easy. Thanksgiving is my fav. Appreciate you. Blessings to you & yours.
This looks like something I can actually do!! It looks so smooth! How come some people have strings in their pie? How do you make sure you don’t have any?
Using a food processor eliminates the strings since they’re basically getting chopped up by the blade. If you use a mixer, the strings will get caught in the whisk attachment(s) and you can just throw that part away. I’ve also heard of some people putting their baked potato through a potato ricer to eliminate the strings. Hope this helps!
I scored some white sweet potatoes along with the regular ones at the farmer's market a few weeks ago, so I have a bunch of delicious puree in 2-cup portions in the freezer all ready and waiting for the next six pies! Nutmeg is a good start for spices, but I gotta have my ginger and cloves in there too. Papa raised me to be a crust snob and wish I liked those Pillsbury ones better because they're _so_ much less effort, but I have an oil crust recipe that mixes up really quick and easy, and I usually include some spices in that too, which I vary according to the filling.
I was looking for who put ginger and cloves. I always make sweet potato casserole never pie this my first. I don't want to mess it up with too much but I use clove and ginger in my cookies that my kids love so I think they will like the addition
@@Kara-x9p I just sprinkle it in until it looks good, but if you need measurements, 1/4 tsp clove and 1/2 tsp ginger is what the excellent Libby's recipe calls for.
Once when I was at work, and the cook's wife made homemade sweet potato pie, the cook brought me a slice, I was in Heaven. I love this pie way better than pumpkin, although they both taste similar.
This definitely is my favorite time of year. I get use all of my mama and my grandmother’s recipes only they did use a food processor neither do I and they are delicious every time. Happy holidays AB. Love you
Love sweet potatoes! I recently read that I’d you freeze uncooked sweet potatoes until they are frozen through, then bake until done, they are even sweeter. I have 2 in the freezer and I am going to bake them for Thanksgiving.
Thank you for your platform! I’m learning to cook cook , as we say, and this was extremely helpful. I made sweet potatoes pies n did not add any milk 🤣🤣🤣! OMG. Can you imagine and I figured I should UA-cam it to see what I did wrong and your channel popped up! THANK YOU AB!! I truly enjoyed the video.
Grandma also didn’t have the luxury of having a food processor! You better know if she did, she would’ve used it cause mine surely upgraded with the times. Same recipes, less time wasted! May she rest well!
Happy Thanksgiving 2 you and your family and love one's AB, and to everyone as well. But yes this is the my time of the year, just missing my dearest Parents and siblings ❤❤❤

Not sure why strings are in some pies, never happened to my SP pie, I thought heat dissolved the strings.
