- Eizan Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (叡山電鉄株式会社, Eizan Dentetsu) is a Japanese private railway company whose two lines run entirely in Sakyō-ku in the city of Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture.
The line runs from the center of Kyoto City to Ichihara Station, as well as to Kurama Temple and Kibune Shrine. The line runs at the foot of a mountain to the vicinity of Nikenjaya Station, but the residential areas along the line have the feel of an urban-suburban line, while the area north of Nikenjaya Station is mountainous, with a 50‰ slope.
During the autumn foliage season, the Momiji Tunnel between Ichihara and Ninose stations is lit up during the Kibune Momiji Lantern Festival, to allow passengers to enjoy the view at night (17:00 to 21:00) by turning off the lights.

関西エリア住んでいた時よく乗った。風景がだいすきで、きららがだいすきで、スルッと関西3ディチケットで、しゅうがくいんの車庫イベントよくいった。京阪電車含めてだいすきです。京阪電車よく2かいせき乗って楽しみました。今関西エリア離れて7年ですが、だいすきな路線です。

沿線に住んでいます。一乗寺～修学院間に自宅がありますがご近所さんの自宅やらしっかり写ってましたね(笑)
逆に鞍馬～出町柳からだと、角度的に写っていたかもしれなかっただけにちょっと残念💦
しかし通勤等で乗り慣れて毎日見慣れた光景なんでいざ見たらちょっと新鮮かも。

皇室 関連施設の「修学院離宮」の最寄り駅です。
「後水尾上皇の指示で造営された離宮 ( 別邸・別荘 ) 」
「借景の手法を採り入れた 我が国を代表する庭園」なのだそうで。
Shugakuin is the name of this area, which derives its name from a temple that existed in the vicinity around the 10th century (Heian period).
If we were to translate "Shugakuin" literally, it would mean "a temple to study".
修(shu)=to cultivate,to complete a course, master
学(gaku)=to learn, to research, systematic knowledge, an institution or facility of education.
院(in)=gardens and buildings surrounded by trellises. Palaces, government offices, temples, schools, etc.
Nowadays, the name Shugakuin itself is a proper noun, so ordinary people don't really think about its meaning.
This is an aside, but if you combine "修学(Shugaku)" and "旅行(Travel)", it becomes "School trip".
