You either like Mezco Toyz figures for their scale and proportions or not. I grew up in the 80s where proportions of figures were NOT proper scale, they are toys. so its more about appreciating the action figure and its cloth goods. Other lines like Mafex does a better job as far as proportion and i like both. but if you're looking for Hot Toys type figures in 1:12 scale with the same proportions, then folks would be disappointed. in my opinion, Mezco is like Hot Toys mashed up with Mego figures.
I think Mezco is the best. But the lack of poseability really hurt this figure. But it absolutely is the most accurate with high quality materials. Just design of the cloth favoring looks over movement. Unfortunately you can't have it both ways.
Hey, Mezco isnt really for everyone. Others are correct. It really is an acquired taste but you're getting what you're paying for. I'm more on plastic figs but IMO Mez Battinson looks good even just by standing. I didnt like movie based figs but this one made an exception. Cheers for considering this brand.
in general mezco is my favorite premium line.i love how they handle acesorys ,desings and materials. the only problem in my opinion is how slow they are making figures and that they can’t adapt to all desings, specially movies desings
Si you find annoying that they give you accessories and you call them “superfluous”? Dude sincerely you are the first person that hear complaining for getting more accessories, and dude the figure is for adults I haven’t lost an accessory for at least 30 years 🤦♂️ It feels you are too biased
I dont know what happend with your figure, but i see other videos and the articulation is much better. Maybe the exoskeleton is too tight i dont know, but once again, i see other videos and the articulation is pretty good. Great review by the way.
37:39 Correction: he uses both grapples to take out the first few Riddler fanatics when entering the Plaza. So he did need the left option. Also, I see the neck articulation and I’m dumbfounded that the one Batman that has the most neck since Christian Bale in 2008 can barely hold a direction naturally. The one reason that makes Mezco redundant to me is that they go for a full costume with the exoskeleton inside. At this point, I would save even more money and wait for the authentic Hot Toys, stick to a pose, close the acrylic display and never touch it again. But as an action figure casual enthusiast, the articulations are why we should be enjoying the hobby. The one saving grace for me regarding is the neutral helmeted portrait. When hunched down looking forward, I could really see THE Batman and that alone can do a major difference for photography and authenticity. Even characters with full helmet like Darth Vader or Samus Aran… The personality comes from the movement of the head and how it pivots or inclines in diagonals.
Out of all the The Batman figures, I do think the MAFEX The Batman action figure does look so much better and has more accessories along with articulation but since I cannot afford any MAFEX figures, I might get the McFarlane The Batman figure to go with my live action McFarlane Batman figures.
Mezco is a company that is hard to recommend due to the fabrics and limited articulation. I do not think they are "expensive" considering the accessories and detailing. But still, it is definitely an acquiared taste. I have the Mezco turtles, Robin, Supreme Knight Batman, and classic Spidey and I really like them. There is a charm to them, at least for me.
Mezco takes a minute to break in articulation wise. Other reviewers got both a decent ab crunch and elbows past 90 degrees. Your inexperience with the brand has resulted in a pretty inaccurate review.
Nice reviews 👍 Mezco is still the only line I have not gotten into yet. I only have a few figures because I'm just not a fan of how they execute the soft goods. Maybe it's the bunching and bulk of them on such a short figure, but it's just not done very well, imo. They are ok with detail of the costumes like the belt on this figure, for example. And I bet I would love this line if they could only execute the clothing better. They do articulation fine, detail is fine, but it's just not for me. And I enjoy hot toys figures, but I think it's because the scale is more conducive for using a soft goods. Thank you
Honestly mezco 1:12 is at its best when it's doing it's original characters like with rumble society. I'd recommend those over their comic/movie figures. There are occasionally some hits, like with their green goblin, but for the most part I'm not the biggest fan anymore.
id say the biggest missed opportunity on the mezco figure is not including some alternate chest pieces...its just a strange choice given it can already be removed they just didnt bother including one
Good review...I still would prefer SHF for my collection. Yes, I do hate the cape and the should plastic. Still, it is the correct size (i.e. 16 cms) and the build quality is great in hand. I feel Mezco too did a good job, accurate color of suit, good accessories, but that's something beyond my budget. Mafex is good too as an option, build quality at that price tag is debatable.
Mezco is my favorite... Looks the best and I don't really play with my figures. I've also seen people fix the neck issue by simply putting the neck piece over the cape and voila, issue solved.
I just saw a review from another creator, and he was articulating the figure way more. Especially the torso. There is absolutely an ab crunch on this figure. That might be user error
I might be alone in this but I really hope Beast Kingdom get to tackle this Batman in the future. Growing up my favorite toy was one of those chunky 8 inch Power Rangers and I’ve had a soft spot for that scale ever since.
@@alexrmz86 I have the Flash Michael Keaton Batman and the Batman Returns Batman, and for me they I love them so much. There’s a charm to them for sure, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea
I think Mezco is overall miss over hit. What often kills me from purchasing every release is the insistent use of pleather and vinyl on the figs. Makes it more difficult for poseability and longevity. I do have Batman Ascending Knight and Harvey Two-Face since they're mostly fabric and both were discounted. He's stupid expensive but I'd love to get their Joker one day.
Hey not a bad review! Especially since it’s your first Mezco. I would advise watching the review by D Amazing so you can see there is much more articulation
I got the mafex due to avoid loosing out if it went out of stock and then paying scalper prices. Plus mezco took a looong time to release. Love mezco and batman, but this is the weakest of all of them in the Batman line. Maybe it will grow on me, but my first thoughts was to resell this. Maybe down the line I guess. But glad I got the mafex version is the best scale with other figures. SHF is cool but really scales small.
Congratulations on your first Mezco! I wish it was a better one unfortunately. But from watching your review, seems like you’re getting something outta him, which is cool. I agree, the Mafex is indeed the better one. And I believe it will be the definitive one, even once the Fondjoy releases. Especially in terms of scaling. Mezco has some updates to do in terms of the materials and bucks they continue to use on their figures. One could use the term they’re not what they used to be, but they’re exactly the same. Which makes their collection of figures look like a modern collection of MEGOs displayed, next to a collection of Beanie Babies. Versus the other companies who switch up bucks, molds, and accessories. Mezco had the potential to be the 1/12th version of Hot Toys, but to be honest I believe Mafex has surpassed the good ole One:12 Collective in that. We’ll see what the Fondjoy looks like, but once again its scaling is off for my liking.
Never really understand the hype behind mezco figures, it's like they are trying so hard to make the figures look realistic that it messes up the proportion. They kinda remind me of the Stretch-Armstrong toys with that proportion.
😂😂😂😂 As an avid Mezco collector I have to say that you don’t get into Hot toys or mezco for posability, they are gorgeous figures to display and play with take pictures etc… but definitely no one gets into mezco for posing figures… The neck you can fix it by pulling the head out a bit and it will look 100 times better. Soft goods figures are not for everybody, that’s why they are a niche market. People who are into mezco already know what to expect, and most of us can go back to only plastic figures, I make and sell dioramas and I have to take pictures of both soft goods and only plastic figures and clothed figures look 1000 times better on pictures. But I do understand that it all up to preference
I completely agree that this company is overrated. I'm glad mezco is popular. But mezco is $ and the scale and disproportionately weird look is laughable for what they're $ 😂❤
I'll take the Mezco ALL DAY over the Mafex as the latter has the ugly chest gap, sloppy paint bleed on faces, pale vampire-like skin tone, head size proportion too small for the body & suit color not accurate (don't recall any of those flaws in the Mafex mentioned in your post???). Mezco neck issue is an easy cosmetic fix as noted all over UA-cam fyi. The Mezco EASILY wins in the looks dep't & accessories too imo. Your nitpicking of the volume of Mezco accessories & perceived flaws of a number of those otherwise along with somehow rating the McFarlane over the Mezco are real head scratchers imo. Mezco gets a dominating W here imo.
Definitely the wrong figure to jump into the Mezco line and do your first Mezco review. Not a perfect toy line for sure, because nobody is, but you oddly picked one of their most troubled products.
