- If your brake lights stay on or your Cruise control will not set this may be your problem. A little stop on the brake pedal frame is the cause. An easy fix. Thanks for Watching SUBSCRIBE:: PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE::
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Not only did I fix my brake lights problem but also figured out why I couldn't use my cruise control.
Your very welcome my friend.
Small tip I want to mention: in order to fit a long bolt in the hole, it was nearly impossible with engine off because the pedal is hard to press. Cranked and running, brake pedal moves more easily out of the way. Pop the bolt right in and release pedal, tighten nut on bolt.
Thanks for the tip. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Thank you!! Saved me a ton of money taking it to the shop. Over $120 they wanted to charge me for this!
WOW, your very welcome my friend.
Thanks for the helpful video, I found the bumper pieces on my floor mat too. I used a 9mm- ish diameter push in fender plug to fix it. worked great. the diagrams you showed are very helpful!
Awesome! Glad that helped. Your very welcome. Thanks for sharing that my friend.
Thank you so much! My cruise control would not engage. Sure enough, the broken plastic piece was on the floor mat. You saved me a lot of money from repairs. Thanks again!
Awesome my friend. Your very welcome.
We definitely have to listen to older people. What video!!
Thanks for sharing this my friend.
I haven't fixed it yet, but I sure enough found all of those little broken bits and what looked like a plastic button right under the brake pedal. I have at least a good idea of how to fix it from your video and from some helpful comments here. Your diagrams are very helpful as well, so thank you very much! 🙏🙏🙏
Awesome my friend. So glad this helped you. Thanks for sharing.
Just wanted to add that I ordered the aftermarket part (from Am*zon 2 for $4) because I couldn't find a bolt or fender clip that would work.
On my 03 Nissan Xterra, there are two holes right next to each other. The left one (and consequently the easier one to get to) is for the cruise control stopper, the right hole is for the brake light.(I initially popped a stopper into the hole that goes to the cruise control switch pin and wondered why the brake lights were still on).
When I found the right hole, I tried about 10 times to get that little squirrelly thing in the hole and it kept falling because there's a metal plate in the way that makes it incredibly awkward to get to and you have to do this mostly "by feel."
Finally what worked: with the car running and pressing the brake as far down as I could, instead of trying to pop the stopper in the hole, I pressed the stopper against the switch pin (centering it as best I could, pushing the switch pin in a bit) and gently released the brake until I felt with my fingers that the stopper was wedged, then pulled up on the brake to pop it in. 👍
I have a 2001 xterra same problem. Your video is the best one I've seen on the topic. I looked on my floor mat and have the same broken plastic parts you showed. Thanks, i appreciate it
Glad it helped my friend.
@@donnielaws7020 sure did. 30 minutes later I put a plastic license plate bolt and small washer in the hole, brake lights working 👍 excellent
@@indegruv Great my friend. Sure beats paying 10-30 dollars for a part at the dealership.
Incredible…! Went out to take a peak at my floor mat & sure enough “little plastic parts laying down there under the brake pedal” … thank you good Sr, thumbs up and a new subscriber for you…!

I was wondering what those plastics under the wheel were, and where did they came from? 🤔

@@stevecariggillio4139 Wow, Great. your welcome.
Exact same issue on my 2015 Ford F-250 SuperDuty. My cruise control would no longer set and I noticed my brake lights are staying on. I unplugged my brake sensor and they turned off so I thought the sensor was bad and ordered a new sensor. After this video and several others, I was led to go look for some yellowish pieces on the floor. Sure as shit, there was! So I used a similar sized magnet to replace the yellow spacer piece that you can't order. It worked!
Awesome my friend. Glad you fixed it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks,👍 seems other car manufacturers did the same thing.
Your very welcome my friend. That's a bad design for sure.
Not for the service department or the repair shop thats an easy 100.00 or more repair. What is the labor pr hour today anywhere from $75 to 150 that's on a good day.@@donnielaws7020

We had a dodge Durango and the brake light switch went out on it without me knowing it and my wife had been gone somewhere in it and had the cruise control on when she hit the brake instead of disengaging it caused the vehicle to try and accelerate
WOW Thanks for sharing this my friend. That extremely dangerous.
@@donnielaws7020 it scared her pretty good and took me a little while to figure out what was going on with it
Hi there, I am writing to see if you can help me out. I do not see any of the plastic grommet but my brakes are not turning on. I checked the fuse and it looks fine. I turned on the headlight and the brake part lights up. Please help and advise
Have you check the brake switch it's self and is it getting 12 volts through it to the brake lights. That should tell you which way to go.
What is it called?
Stopper plug.
where can i send my check?
WOW Thanks so much for sharing this my friend. It's totally free. Glad it helped.
