Just wanted to say thank you for this video! I was so surprised when I had the same problem and saw your video on how to fix it. I ended up finding a rubber piece from an old appliance that matched the hole on the brake pedal plate that hits the switch. It was just a pain to get at from an awkward angle from the floor but a super easy fix without spending anything. Can confirm this also works on Pathfinder models from 1997. Cheers from Australia!
im glad you found a solution to the problem, and thanks for visiting my channel, also cheers from the United States of America to the Beautiful Australia.
Excellent! I think I'll be able to fix my cruise control with a penny tomorrow! You're my kind of mechanic! I could drive my 93 Pathfinder to Nicaragua if you were in my pit crew. Muchos Gracias Doctor.
Just wanted to say thank you for the video. I drive a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder, and my battery was dead this morning because of my brake light staying on all night. I glued a penny on that piece of metal and it worked!
Hey partner. Thanks for the video. My brake light switch was directly behind the steering shaft and really difficult to reach. I was gonna use the 1/4” bolt as others had suggested but there was no way unless I removed the switch. Didn’t want to do that. So I went ahead and used a nickel because the other grommet seemed to be more of that thickness. I superglued it and wedged it in with some needle nose pliers and done. So it cost me a little more than you, but well worth it!
Thank you for sharing this! I couldn't figure out why in the heck there were holes in the exact place that was needed to depress the switch. I must have lost the grommets or they disintegrated when I changed the brake booster on a 99 Qx4. I used panel trim fasteners that fit the holes perfectly with no glue.
just got told my brake lights were on while I'm at work on my QX4 so I went to check and my battery is dead. I'm going to try this to fix my issue once I jump start it and get back home. Thanks.
I had the same issue with my 03 pathy i called an electric guy to fix it, I did disconnected the battery until the guy came and fixed it with peace of mettle. It was in 2016 or 17.
Hey got to give it to you thats a inexpensive repair, other than the labor ... most likely it will last longer than buying the nissan factory part too.
thanks for your comment, yes I have done some about 5 years ago and till this day they still working fine, the penny has not come off yet. God bless you and your family as well.

im glad you did a great job, it definitely was more expensive repair than mine but worthty
You don’t need to use the hook tool to push back peg, just push break with your hand and glue down penny. The penny was a great idea.
