      That material that they were in in the video doesn't take a lot of power to get through. Put that same mower/tractor combo in some tall, thick fescue/orchard grass, it would be a totally different picture.

    We had a mulberry tree in out yard when I was a kid. The neighbor kid used to come over and eat the mulberries. I looked at him one day when he was eating them and asked how he could eat those bug filled mulberries. He said “what!”. I told him to look really close at the mulberries. 😂 there were always tiny worm like things crawling on them. Poor kid had been eating them for years... so I guess it wasn’t bad. Just gross. But that was the last day he ate a mulberry. 😂

    • @TsunauticusIV

      @TsunauticusIV 3 роки тому +1

      @@ngnmech oh man. I just googled “bugs on mulberries” 😂 so... apparently they were probably either a white aphid or the larva of some kind of small fly like a fruit fly. I’m betting they were the tiny larvae of fruit flies 🤔 says they are not typically harmful to eat tho. So you’re probably good to chomp on them. 😂

      At one time we had two of the strange "weeping mulberry" trees. Looked a lot like a weeping willow. Yes the birds loved them and my kids loved them since they could push some branches out of the way and hide inside. I removed them since they were sending roots into the septic tank and into the leach lines. What a mess. I rented a small excavator to help with the digging but I spent a lot of time just digging the roots out. Some were almost 10" in diameter and the one tree had about 16 big roots. I use an axe, a chain saw, and a sledge to break the roots. Once I got the branches gone and cut the trunk I had to remove the roots since they were into the leach lines. Digging the leach field up and replacing the orange pipe was not fun and my back told me about it very loudly! I have a bad back, a result of some work in the Army, so I have to be careful.

    Another job well done , and we're all jealous of the equipment. One thought I would have would be to add a hydraulic top link. They are cheap, easy to add and add so much versatility to the attachment. If you tilt that mulcher inward so the cutting teeth contact first when attacking the bigger brush it would make a world of difference. It would also allow you to tip that bush hog up. Love that thing! I'm now looking into purchasing one of those. Very nice!

  • @CobyRupert

    Probably not as bad to push a heavy duty mower with a light tractor into a low visibility area than vice-versa, but Tim’s method is a good way to bend the back shroud of a mower into the blades when you encounter something solid and hidden. Ask me how I know. It makes heck of a racket when you do.
    Took me a while to discover better method of raising mower over low visibility area and then lowering it on it and pulling forward. This prevents pushing in rear shroud. Anything that is going to shoot out front is directed down as mower is tilted up. I think tractor driver is in a lot less danger with this method than the camerawoman in these videos right behind the mower.

      For a large footed guy like me, I use two different strategies. I either rest my heel on the reverse pedal and my toe on the forward pedal. The other strategy I use is I rest my heel on the floorboard and press down on the forward pedal to go forward and lift the forward pedal with my toe to go backwards.

    Surprised that the mid-line tractor handled the forestry mulcher as well as it did. It's a hard pick, Brush Hog or drum mulcher.
    Another UA-camr from California, Vbelt and Son have a forestry business. Sam, the son uses a FAE mulcher on a skid steer for most jobs, and larger jobs, a Prime Tech 175. Absolutely brutal what can be rendered into usable ground cover.
