- Light weight summer wild camping. This week I'm breaking out the budget ultra lightweight camping gear. including my new tent which is the 10D ultralight Nature hike cloud up 2, my ice flame down blanket and my Trekology ultralight 80 mat with the Aluft pillow.
I met up with @WildCamper for this one and we had beer and burgers cooked on the Bush Box XL

Shame about the colour but I like the tent... I think I need to up my game on the lightweight tent scene, the lightest I have is the Terra Nova Zephyros 1... but its stuffy and small inside 🤷🏼♂️ Nice to see you out with Rob matey 👍

Thanks mate, she’s had a tough week, but she’s coming out the other side now. My kiddo came down with it the day after so they’ve been locked in the bedroom together while I’ve been mr meals on wheels.

You were clever to get that so nice camping gear, the tent looks bug proof,
I like everything about it, back in 1977 when I did camping there was not a lot of gear one could buy, the tent made me happy to know what campers can have now-a-days. I had a Egyptian cotton 8 ft square no floor baker tent it was 7 ft @front 2 ft @backwall had a window there was a screen for the front my pack frame included was 55 lbs, wow yers is light, nice going mister.
Thanks David, yeah tents have come on in leaps and bounds in the last 10 years or so.
It’s always a trade off.. lightweight is great until the wind starts to blow 😝

Mr Muddy Paws in the boggy pond ..lol. Great spot for a quiet camp but must admit nicer with water. Hope Mrs CLB is much better Dan. Brownie points for rushing home to be the carer. Bushyboy Oz.
mate, my two kids came down with it too.. so I've been camping in the living room all week and playing nurse maid/cook .. but they're all well on the road to recovery thankfully.

The kids came down ill as well, so I've been alone in the living room all week while they have all been together in 'isolation' which is hardly fair!

Hello again Dan,,I have the same mattress, very comfortable, and the side really keep you from rolling off..lol! Don't want to be picky,but doesn't the black side of your pillow go on the mattress? Or maybe the one you have it doesn't matter,mine has the soft side up,also can take the cover off to wash it....and has the strap also. New tent looks good naturehike is getting real popular, see them alot on utube shows..ok Dan take care and try to stay 😎!
I’m not sure about the pillow. Mine is the deluxe version. It seems to me that the black side is more quilted. But I’ll have a closer look next time I’m out.
The mat is very comfy, just no R value to speak of but it’s great for the summer.
Naturehike tents seem to me to just work. Easy to pitch, light enough to carry, durable enough for most things. I’m a fan.

Yeah it was pretty warm for a few days, but it’s all over now. Back to normal now around the 25c mark.
Seeing you sat by the pond I couldnt help but picture Mr Toad lol
Pleased to see you use a ground sheet, adds to the comfort of fewer bugs.
Mr toad is a permanent resident, last time I was there he was singing to me all night!

I completely get the idea of lightweight tents but why are they nearly always almost see-through and rustle like a bin bag? 😂 looks good though and like you say it serves a purpose in the summer!

Thanks for the well wishes, Carly was really touched. She is well on the way to recovery now. our kids came down with it too so I've been chief nurse maid, meals on wheels cook and general dogs body all week while sleeping in the living room. lucky I have a little bit of camping gear to use : )

G'day Dan, dunno about you mate, but we often get heavy rain in summer, is that light version rated waterproof ?

It’s waterproof up to a point I think. We don’t get the rains you do during the summer, usually it’ll just be a shower so I think it will have a place in my collection.
Thanks mate, they are both on the up now.. they were both quite poorly early in the week but seem to be coming out the other side. Unfortunately my boy has just tested positive.. so just me to go now and we’ll have done the set.

I'm so glad to hear your girls are coming good. I can only hope the young fella doesn't cop it badly.
My wifey, (incidentally a nurse) and no.1 daughter seem to have missed out altogether, so far anyway, and no. 2 daughter did test + but pretty much breezed through it like a common cold, she is a very fit 20 yo though, (maybe a factor or perhaps simply luck of the draw).
I reckon I had it some weeks ago now, the headache was so intense for a couple of days, (and way more than just from frothies and red wine, lol), but tested inconclusive.
I haven't heard of anyone getting it 3 times, though I reckon it's just about impossible to fully isolate in the family home, so all fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed for you too mate. A shame we cant leave no trace with this lot, : (
Btw; dunno if you have a product, (Glen 20), over there, it's supposed to kill just about everything, including the C beast, and bar humans, lol.
I've been spaying the stuff everywhere, except over food and food preparation, not sure how much protection it really does offer, but at worst it smells clean.
Was a grand little camp, sorry to hear C has C. Hope she's doing ok with it. L had C and was totally fine 👍 ATB Rob

Pip had it too as it turned out. Both were out of it for about 3 days but getting better now. They’ve been asking for chocolate since yesterday so that’s a good sign.

Hi Dan👍👍 First let say I'm sorry to hear Mrs CLB got the gift from China, horrible thing. Hoping a speedy recovery. Too bad Rob had to escape the premises so early but understand circumstances. Tent seemed to work a treat, no issues but would like to see a wet weather review sometime. Grilling on the Bushbox can be tricky, I've done two burgers at once but the patties have to be rotated constantly so attention is tasked. It was for all intents and purposes a great overnight camp, beer, wine, fire, food, chat and a cozy nights sleep....wonderful. You're laid back style and humor is addicting, much welcome these days. Them burgers looked real good. Not sure on the coleslaw on them though. I only like my wife’s coleslaw.

the bush box is good, not sure its really worth the money but its useable and when sober its easy to set up.

why do you prefer the 10D to the 20D cloud up?
I like that it's lighter.
But I use both depending on what I'm doing. But having a 1kg tent as an option is great.

@Pasequale100 it's lighter.. but more fragile. The 20d is a bit tougher..
I was using the 10d last weekend and I was a bit concerned as it was quite windy. You have to be quite selective where you pitch it.
@@CampLifeBushcraft thank you :) can you say that the interior of the 20D is warmer during cold conditions in comparison to the 10D? or doesn t it make a big difference?

yeah it was warm for a little while. even warmer in the kitchen at work! but its cooled off now. back to normal "summer`' weather.

Thanks for the upload mate after watching a few of your vids ive got the tiny pump x and as im an old fossil and need to lighten my loadout a STS etherlight xt air and an etherlight xt ectreme,thanks for your uploads and hope Mrs CLB makes a speedy recovery.
I’ve never used any etherlight stuff but I’ve heard good things. I hope you get on with the tiny pump x .. I think it’s such a simple but effective gadget.

@@CampLifeBushcraft Yes the pump seems just the jobbie the etherlight stuff will go on top of my german army folding mat that folds away in the pouch where my bergan frame normally goes on my issue short or longback bergans, so warmth should be ok and smaller than my go to outwell dreamcather 10cm self inflating mat lol. Curries helped me with loads of garlic bread,the capsicum, garlic and tumeric really boosted my immune system and helped me fight it. ATB
Great video thanks. I have the 20d version and love it, do you think it's worth saving the extra half a kilo for longer hikes?
It’s a significant weight saving but for me it depends where you’re hiking in terms of wind and how often you’d use it.
The 10d one is very light but feels a little more fragile. And I haven’t tried it in the wet as yet.
If you’re out often it’s probably worth it. As they’re not that expensive as tents go.
@@CampLifeBushcraft Thanks, I'm about to do the Wainwright's coast to coast so maybe stick to the tough as nails 20d just incase the weather turns.
