Great video as always. I personally like it when you waffle. I learned some history of DDR which I didn’t know. Keep up the good work! I look forward to the next one.
I always enjoy your Crown-ing work John. Well done good sir.
Thank you kindly
History is history, it can't be changed. Some of it shouldn't be celebrated or repeated but learned from. Stamps tell stories, and stories should be told.
Totally agree!
Great video CROWN hope for 1000 by next week.
Ηappy Easter and congratulations on another CROWN video.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations on 800+ subscribers, a CROWNing achievement. I have now started an Isle of Man collection (your fault!) after watching your videos. To be fair, i had a spare blank album and wanted to branch out, as it were. Thanks John.
Thanks Alan. Enjoy the Isle of Man collecting!
Drop me an email at johncollectsstamps@gmail.com with your address and I'll send you some of my duplicate IOM stamps
CROWN. John, your generosity is incredible. There is nothing wrong collecting German WWII stamps with the image of Hitler. Like you said it is a reminder of the horrors of his Regime. I have an extensive Collection including a few WWII Propaganda post cards as well as most from Bohemia. Probably close to 1000 items so far. Still a few blanks to fill. Congrats on reaching 820.
Thanks Dan, we're quite a well adjusted bunch of people us Philatelists! Sounds like an interesting collection!
Great video as usual John. Personally, I'm enjoying the added snippets of history. As others have commented, your Crown is much deserved.
Thank you.

The Tardis definitive would be a CROWN in any stamp collection
As a stamp collector. Having Hitler era stamps just helps you complete a German stamp collection. It is part of history
Great video very informative once again
Thanks Rob!
Crown Enjoyed the video. Congratulations on your continued success.

Crown 👑👑👑 you got me hooked into starting my own machin collection. Very good videos 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
CROWN. Enjoy your channel greatly.
Much appreciated
Nice video
Informative and interesting content. CROWN
Thanks John - great video !! Go for it with the monitisation - I am sure you will do well with the amount of subscribers you are getting each month. I agree with you regarding collecting controversial stamps - eg Hitler etc. they are part of history and only remind us of the horrors of war and how evil these people were hoping not to repeat (looks like Putin is repeating however)
Thanks John very much - Jeff
Thanks Jeff
Hi John. A CROWN to you for the fantastic growth of your channel - you are at 820 subscribers when I comment here! I really like it when you expand on European history. The stamps are part of this - the history is, as you said, captured in moments on the stamps. History is part of our foundation, and therefore I have no problem with collecting any stamps, including those with the Hitler history on them. It is in the past and to learn from. - Your ardent follower here from New Zealand. PS: A wonderful giveaway again! Thanks for being so generous, even though I will probably not win 🙃 , and thank you for your videos. 🙂
As always, thanks for your lovely comments.
Good video, John! CROWN
Glad you enjoyed it

Historically, the Crown Agents were responsible for, among other thing, the issue of stamps for colonies.
Congratulations on reaching 750+ (actually 800+) subscribers!
What a “ CROWN “-ing achievement!
Next week you might hit 1000+
Thank you so much.
Great video... I got inspired by you to start collecting stamps and find it as a great passtime... CROWN
Have fun!
great video John, worth at least half a CROWN of anyone's money.
After watching your ealier videos it made me dig out my old collection of Machins and start sorting them in a similar fashion to yourself and as an aside I decided to give more effort to my Wildings but the watermarks left me a little daunted. I hope some time you might do a video discussing the different types of watermark used on those Wildings. Anyway keep up the great work I love your videos. From Tom in Liverpool (not the one in Australia or Canada) but the one where they speak with an accent broader than your own.
Thanks Tom, always nice to hear of someone diving back into the hobby. I'm in Oldham, when I was born, the town was still in Lancashire, not Greater Manchester
Crown - Thank you for showing the South African and D.D.R. stamps, I'm so pleased they were of interest to you.
Enjoying the channel, keep going John.
You are so welcome!

Only just back into stamps myself but collected since I was a kid as well as coins/banknotes! Congrats on the 750 subs, I'm sure you will reach 1k soon! CROWN

It’s a pity there’s no CROWN on King Charles III stamps.
that was a very generous giveaway
Keep up the great work, very informative videos. CROWN
Much appreciated
CROWN
Very generous! That pack is amazing.
BTW, do you know anything about the UV light that used for seeing Phosphor bands on say the double head Machins? I have 365nm & 254nm but neither work on these Machins.
Crown!
I've never used a UV light. I have no problem identifying phosphor bands by eye after tilting the stamps in good natural light.
What a great vie away and video. Are you keeping up with all the stamps being sent to you? You are the go to video I always look out for. CROWN.😄
I've been off work on leave this week, so spent some time sorting and housing the stamps in stock books. The Netherlands collection is moving along as I've now chosen a layout that suits my needs.
@@johncollectsstamps Brilliant- I am awaiting an album for my Bermuda collection which is particularly close to me. Will PM you on my progress.
Hi interesting video, yes it's a new era with king Charles lll. One of the things with QE ll, machins is, that in every collection, small or big, there's a lot of them.
Regarding the GDR stamps, i collect those. Tje 12pf blue service stamp, is that a rift or is it an error?
Interesting to know.
Regards from 🇩🇰 , Claus
Usually a bisect would be half the value. However the postcard rate was raised from 1d to 2d on May 1st 1940. So your December postmark would indicate full value.
Thanks for the info, that's great!
It seems I was incorrect in the conclusion. They ran out of penny stamps and so bisected the 2d. Since it was under German Occupation, it seems the 1d tariff was maintained. I assume so. Anyway the first day of release of the bisect was given as 27th Dec 1940.
Vale is on the northern side of the island.

Hi john. Did you know there is also an international charles 3rd.value 2.20p

The giveaway is closed, winners have already been drawn!
I think a person should collect what you like. If one does not like the things that some of our historically recent political leaders did - such as Adolf, Joseph, Che, Mao, Maggie, Tricky Dicky, or Ronnie, don't collect them. As another poster commented, learn from the history and don't repeat it. Postage stamps are cultural items, and again, if you like the stamp, add it to your collection. I'm not as impressed by the new Charles III stamps - I don't think they look quite as elegant as the QE II Machins.... maybe because QEII looks more regal due to the CROWN?
