I have a German collection as well. From 1852 right through to 2005. My DDR collection is complete from 1949 till 1991. I also have a strong collection of German states, Germany under allied occupation, 3rd Reich, West Germany and Berlin. It is a fascinating country to collect . i hope to one day share my collection with everyone as you are. Your videos are very informative and well presented.

You do it in such a nice informal way, that it is like listening to an interesting story, and it is not difficult to keep listening. Fascinating stamps. I don't collect too many foreign stamps, exceptions: Singapore and Ceylon. I store them in a thin stock book.

The black borders were printed on the stamps after the president's death as a kind of 'in memoriam' issue. The practice was not uncommon at the time and several countries have stamps with such borders.
