Kumail is such a good comedic actor that it feels like he's part of the cast. Usually other hosts even other comedic actors or comedians look and act like struggling to remember dialogue or hit their marks but Kumail looks like a natural.
Happened to me flying from Australia, to LA, to Guatemala, to Costa Rica, got to the hotel that was booked for me (I'm a musician) at 8am. "Check in starts at 2". I slept on a couch. FFS.
It really is tough. I book reservations for Marriott. I get calls all the time requesting early check-in but we can't guarantee that in advance, because if the hotel's sold out the night before, a room has to be cleaned before they can give it to you. I always wince when people tell me they're flying in on a red-eye and I have to tell them the only way to guarantee it is to pay for the night before.
@@fletchbg lol, all these years of killing time before check-in, I never thought to book and pay for the night before (though I plan knowing check-in time). A lot of places can just check your bags, and then by the time I find somewhere nice to have a late lunch, I'm good. I'm generally too cheap to book the night before especially if there's a chance I'd get in early, but it's a thought for a lower rate kind of place..
Yes, I agree, they force you to say this whole script and this checklist of things you have to tell the guest, awful job. It wasn’t our fault, we had to do it!
Kumail Nanjiani is always so good at these types of roles. He is good at any role, but especially customer service type roles. Super funny. Mikey Day is the best with his reactions to sht happening to or around him. He always sounds like he is truly bothered or distressed lol. Love Mikey.
Nope it isn’t. Been to 100-odd Marriott properties and no one behaves like this. Client will just speak to the Duty Manager in case the front desk guy is such a jerk.
@@kauspet I'm glad to hear that! I like Marriott and I think they are a good company. And I was trained to say things nearly identical to this skit. It was a brand new hotel so corporate had their top brass training us.
As a hotel receptionist, I think it's fair to say that 80% of check-ins go this way. Mostly because the duty manager forces these things down your throat
Well the typing is the logging in to the system. Then you have a list of names that are checking in alphabetically, so you ask to spell the name and just go down the list. Usually you find it before the guest finishes spelling their name out
Karolina Jarosz he was talking about how Kumails Character asked to spell the name Adams, and it showed up on the a, implying he didn’t know it started with a.
lol thats bc it is accurate for a marriott check in! I am a GM and they are taught to make sure they mention all amenities! The typing before giving a name is us logging into the computer or logging into the the pms fosse! We have to type our logging in before every other thing we do in the system!!! Haha this is impressive!

The only person who didn't even attempt to hide the fact she was looking at the cards was Leslie and she only had one line. Chris gave such a great delivery of his lines. Can't believe he's left the show already.
The Star Gazer Lounge and the Spa Indulge, which was featured in Laditudes. That's Southwest Airlines in Flight Magazine is gonna be a new thing now! 🤣 I think what made it hilarious is Kumail Nanjiani had a genuine smile on his face like he enjoyed himself.
Not only hotel clerks. Near the end of Blockbuster Video, while trying to rent a movie, I was trapped by a cashier that would not stop trying to sell me a rental membership, and whatever else they were hawking at the counter. The word "No" was not in his vernacular.
A little Hotel Del Coronado tribute at the front. I love all the typing. It sure seems like front desk clerks are typing a novel when they check you in.
The front desk clerk forgot to tell Mr. Adam's that all meals, snacks and drinks are served daily in The Star Gazers' Lounge. Extra towels and blankets can be picked up there too.
